WR-you reminded me of something else I also say to kids," I don't care what you're thinking about me in your head, but it better not come out of your mouth."

The mom and mom's boyfriend are facing charges and jail time, but they don't have any money. The community and school had several fundraisers for the girl's family, so they feel very betrayed. It's a small community and a hit against the school district is a hit against the community.

My SIL was told it is DCIS again, that some remnant of a duct was somehow left behind. They certainly feared that it was IDC, but all tests on the tissue say no.

You can sue anyone for almost anything, and some plantiffs' attorneys (pas moi, btw) will file a case that they have small chance of winning at trial in the hopes of a settlement since the costs of trial are so high.  This seems to be that type of case.  Sorry to see attorneys abusing the system.

On DCIS, I understood when I got my BMX that I had a 1-2 percent chance of recurrence, which means it happens to someone.  Sorry it happened to your SIL, YarmAl,  but at least it's still DCIS.

Had my interview today.  Was told my name would be going on to the office manager, which is good, but that there's another 3-4 candidates for the same spot - less good.   Keeping fingers crossed.

Gutters fixed today.  Hope that resolves the water in the basement problem.

Now two of my friends have had to evacuate their homes due to wildand fire this summer.  One was my college freshman roomate - she had to leave due to the Waldo Fire in Colorado Springs last month.  Saturday night, my coworker had to evacuate her home near Shingletown.  Both national news stories.  Oh, add my Dad in for the historic Oakland/Berkeley fire in the early 90's.  Can't tell me there is no climate change; ...fires are more numerous, more intense and harder to control!

Kam, that is terrible! I've had to flee tornadoes before but fire is really terrifying.

Btw, does anybody know what a "legitimate rape" is? Undecided

I can tell you what it isn't - rape is rape (unless you're an uneducated man IMHO).

yorkiemom...I guess I mistakenly believed that rape was, by definition, lacking legitimacy...  The world is becoming a very scary place.  It seems both women and science have suffered incredible defeats...

Alexandria - fingers & TOES crossed for you.

Kam, you've reminded me to call a friend in Mt. Shasta, CA.  thanks.  Hope anyone in danger is ok.

Sandy and CLC, no matter how one tries to parse that word "legitimate" it turns into a s^*t sandwich. What a dangerous ignoramous the coiner of that phrase is.

I personally am thrilled to discover the new medical information that a woman's body will recognize and reject sperm generated by a rapist.  Learn something new every day.

Yes, hopefully the word will spread. But, wait, isn't that a subconscious form of abortion? Oops!

and, let's not forget, while we're with Alexandria in wonder at this new "scientific" form of birth control, that the man (Akin) CO-SPONSORED a "personhood" bill with the man Willard has selected to be VP.  AAugghhhhhhh.....

Color me so surprised - NOT. What we're witnessing this election cycle is the War on Women, Part II.

My guess, when the woman then becomes pregnant from the rape it was her fault.  She just deserved it, right?

I guess dinosaurs do still exist, there are certainly troglodytes wandering the earth.

Yorkie, no obviously not meant that way. I should have said "passive" perhaps? I think it is important for kids and people in general to learn that they can act even if something unfortunate happens. In the BC that would be taking charge of your treatment, for example, advocating for yourself, exercising to lessen the impact of treatment and other stuff like that.

Ladies, you are scaring me. Where are you getting these nuggets of deep thinking from? Legitimate rape? [But, judge, she really, really wanted it, I just know she did.] Rejecting rapists' sperm? WTF?

chickadee - of course, "she deserves it" cuz she didn't "secrete" the "right juices" - now he's "apologizing" - how does one apologize for being as someone might say an "idjut."

Momine:  you must not have caught the news.  Claude Aikins, who is running for Senate in MO, stated in an interview yesterday that he'd learned from several doctors that in the case of a "legitimate" rape, a woman's body would somehow shut down and not allow her to become pregnant - and that's why abortion is not needed for rape victims.   It's been hot and heavy on the news.

I have been in my grandpa's provincial home town all day, so I did miss it. Arghhh! That is very nifty, btw, because that way, if she gets knocked up she obviously wanted it and it was not a real, i.e. legitimate, rape.

Does this mean we could have rejected our BC from growing inside of us too?  The profundity of insanity (I heard Liz Winsted saying this today...kind of like it) is being exposed.

I think the magic only works during a legitimate rape.  So if you're legimately raped at the exact time that BC is developing.....

Alexandria - I think you forgot the "forcible" type of rape.  Isn't that the important part - lol but sad too?   Oh, "legitimate" implies "forcible."  Silly me.

I wonder if the body recognizes age of consent?  Will it shut down and refuse to get pregnant if the girl is underage?  Or is statutory rape simply illegitimate?

What if it was his daughter?  Would he see it the same way?  Or would he sue on terms of statutory rape?

Kam, you didn't know it was your fault. See you have to always think positive thoughts and then your cancer cells can't get in you. And eat lots of Brussels Sprouts.
