Hi,!!! Tenaj!!! Wow, you sure have a 6th sense. Liz was sent to the hospital yesterday, she was 3 cm dilated, but her contractions stopped. She was sent home very disappointed. She does not want to be induced, so her doc told her to do alot of walking up and down hills. He,he,he!!! What is so funny is that she does do hills, she is a hiker!!!!! Thank you for your thoughts. Hi, everyone, hope all is well.
-
Hi all! We finally got some rain here. Much needed:). Just wanted to pop in n say hi. Kathy keep us posted:).

Hi, everyone!!!! Our Lily Rose has arrived. She was born at 12:30 pm and weighed 6lbs 13 oz. We are ecstatic!!!! Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers!!!!! Lots of Love!!!
-
Yay Kindergarten! Such excitement, and what a day she chose to arrive, same day Curiosity landed on Mars - totally cool!! (Yes, I'm a dork, I know)
I'm in Walnut Creek, CA on a minivacation at my cousin's house, looking forward to some time away. Tomorrow we're taking BART into SF should be fun.
-
Thank you, Cookie Monster, no you are not a dork. Please have fun on your minivacation. We love using Bart!!!! Back to the hospital today to see our Lily Rose, blessings to you all!!!!
-
Congrats Kathy!!! Let the spoiling n loving begin. There is just no way to describe the emotions at the birth of your first grandchild until you experience it!
Hi everyone else and wishing the best to you all! -
Thanks, ATEAMNANA, We just came back from visiting Lily. We were allowed to witness the whole labor and delivery. She was born at a family birthing medical center. It was the most wonderful experience ever. I am really motivated to stay in shape!!! Our daughter in law looks great after birth. I have not gained any weight, but I am frustrated that I can't lose either. Oh, well, I will keep trying. Hugs to you all!!!
-
CONGRATULATIONS KINDERGARTEN!!!! How exciting for all of you. It will be sooo special to watch Lily grow. I always loved being a mom & so look forwardto the day my kids will have kids!!! Don't worry about loosing weight right now, focus on being healthy & being there for all of the family. Enjoy!!! Hugs & Blesssing to you!!
-
Thank you so much Tenaj!!! I hope you are doing well, and I know you will be a great and wonderful grandma!!!
-
Hi ladies - I'm back from a week out of town and the scale is NOT happy. That's what happens when you eat ice cream sundaes (even shared with DS) and other yummy foods.
I guess it's time to get back to it, isn't it? I hope you're all well. It's HOT here, which I do not like, but should start cooling off tomorrow.
-
Hi CookieMonster, welcome back home!! The way these weeks are flying it's gonna be cold before we know it!! LOL.....Glad you enjoyed, I've been enjoying myself way too much also, time to get back to business.....
Kindergarten, how is Lily's grandma doing??? Smiling from ear to ear I'm sure :-).
Hi ATeamNana! Hope your enjoying your pool & grandsons.
Have a lovely weekend everyone! -
And this morning I was three pounds lighter than yesterday morning - that's just crazy, now I remember why I was only weighing myself once a week. This up and down can be crazy making.
I would love it to be COLD right now!!
How's the new baby?
How's everyone else?
-
Hi, there Ladies!!! Tenaj, so good to see you!!!! Cookiemonster, 3lbs is great!!!! I think in the summer, with the heat, we tend to retain water and then lose it and then do it again. It is a yo-yo. Love my grandbaby more than words can express. Please send me good thoughts and prayers. On August 20th, I have repeat bloodwork. My tumor markers were high last month. It was my first CA2729. Thank you!!!
-
Hi tenaj. Cookiemonster. Kathy. It is cooler here today. I want to stay up to see the meteour shower but so far have not seen anything anyone else seen it? Kathy i will be sending prayers n good thoughts your way. I am determined that i will get back on track with better eating habits:). It is hard with recent family events. Have a great sunday everyone.
-
Thank you so much, ATEAMNANA!!! You will get on track, no worries

Hi Ladies,
Kathy, invited me to join this thread. I have been struggling to exercise and today I finally got my butt out there and took a walk with my two dogs. I am considering joining a wellness center to start swimming, but am too embarassed to put on a swimsuit. I also don't want anyone to see how out of shape I am. I need encouragement. -
Hi Rocket. Welcome to our group. This is a great bunch of ladies! Hi everybody. I ate somewhat better today but no exercise. I walked and did a lot over the weekend so after work i sat in my nice comfy chair and relaxed:). Tomorrow is another day. Nite all.
-
Welcome Rocket - About the bathing suit, if you're going during lap swim time, noone will care what you look like nor will they time your laps. We all have to start somewhere.
For me it's just too darn hot, so I barely will go outside and I don't have access to a pool right now. I'm eating pretty well though. We'll see what the scale says on Thursday.
-
Hi, and welcome Rocket!!!! Any exercise is great and do what you feel is comfortable. So glad you are here and you will love this thread, good advice and tips here.
-
Welcome Rocket & hello to my friends here! This has been a long hot summer. It has been so hot & humid I lost my ambition to ride my bike. I know in a few weeks it will be much cooler so I plan to pick up the biking again. I have been so busy working & finishing packing up my mom's house that she left me. We went to contract last week to sell it, I hope the buyers get their loan approval. Now I have to figure out what to do with everything. That will definitely keep me busy. I have done much better eatting, I am only up about 1-2 lbs from my original 12 lb loss. I didn't expect to keep it all off as I have cheated quite a bit lately. This weekend will be tough as I am finally getting to visit my daughter in Boston and she has all these great places she wants to go. There always be next week to get back on the right track.
Kathy, how is sweet Lily doing? I am sure you are enjoying!! You are in my thoughts & prayers especially on the 20th, remain strong & positive
I had a bit of an inspiration today....One of my patients I visited was 85yo & had a mastectomy in 1976!!! No Chemo, rads or pills!!! I told her she made my day!!!
Have a wonderful evening all.

I love hearing those stories. I hope you are doing well. Please have a wonderful evening as well. Hi and hugs to everyone
I am being good with eating until my bloodwork, no sweets, low carb and less caffiene.

Thanks for welcoming me to the group. Here's my confession. I am addicted to Jelly Belly jelly beans. I don't eat a lot of them, but just can't seem to go too many days without having some. Other than that, I am a pretty healthy eater. I have to get movitated to exercise. My husband said he would walk with me today if the weather is good. I had very little sleep last night, so we will see how much energy I have.
Kathy, Lily must be adorable. Isn't it amazing that when you hold your grandchild, all of your problems and concerns just seem to melt away? At least that's the way I feel when I hold little Erin. She looks at me with the most beautiful gray blue eyes and bright red hair, and smiles because she knows who I am. It's like a magic pill, I think of nothing but her the entire time I'm holding her. I love being a Nana! My DS and DIL are coming to visit us at the end of the month and I can hardly wait to hold Erin again. She melts my heart. Enjoy every precious minute with Lily.
Have a lovely day Ladies! -
Hi, Rocket!!!! You are too cute!!! Hey, we all have addictions to something. I andTenaj love Acai chocolate covered blueberries found at Costco, he,he,he!!!! Please enjoy your walk with hubby. So glad you are here, and you are so right, a grandchild brings such joy to your life that problems do melt away and more motivation to take of myself. I have been walking alot. We live on the 3rd floor of a condo complex, so we never take the elevator. We also live near grocery stores, the mall and restaurants, so we walk there too!!! It is still so hard to lose weight, however. My biggest downfall is carbs and sweets, so I have to limit those. But thanks to you all, you give me motivation and desire!!!! Hugs to you all!!!!
-
Rocket & Kindergarten, I am jealous about your grandma status....I do look forward to that one day. Time goes so quickly I don't want to rush it, but I have dreams about being a grandma. I always loved being a mother & doing special things with the kids. My plan is to get into the best shape I can so that I will be healthy & have lots of energy when that time comes. I have lots of sweets that I love.....M & M's & Acai chocolate covered blueberries are my favorite. I almost weakened the last time I went to Costco, but somehow they didn't make it into the wagon. I am still on my kick with costco peaches in the jar. I have been buying organic non-fat yogurt & blenderize about 4 pieces of peach into 1 cup of yogurt & then cut some peaches & blueberries into it. That is less than 200 calories. I eat that for breakfast & lunch with a small piece of chicken for lunch. I think this regimen is what has helped me to loose weight. Don't forget the green tea & LOTS of water. When I lost the weight I was perfect about no snacking, I know that is what is missing now. I will get better!! Have a great evening.
-
TENAJ, I also buy Costco peaches, we love eating them with cottage cheese!! The yogurt with peaches and blueberries sounds even better, definitely going to try it in the morning!!! You will be a wonderful grandma!!!
-
I agree Tenaj, you will be a fabulous grandma! The thing about grand babies is that you have time to enjoy them instead of when your own kids were young. I also have more money to spend on my granddaughter than I ever did when my kids were little. I can't wait until she's old enough to take to Disneyworld!
I make a fat free artisan bread that is low calorie and delicious. I also make a low fat banana blueberry bread that gets raves. Usually these two items are where I get my carb fix. I'm trying to limit my jelly bean habit to only 15 or 20 per day so it's not a ton of calories. I eat Chobani yogurt and stir in fruit too. I eat quite a bit of organic produce. I love vegetables and fruit. I eat meat only about three times a week. I don't really get enough protein in my diet.
No walk today or tomorrow unless it's in the evening as I have the painters coming to paint two bedrooms and two bathrooms and I have to keep my dogs under control.
I hope you lovely ladies all have a great day! -
Dear Rocket, if you have time, recipes please. I am sure you are a wonderful baker. The artisan and banana blueberry bread sound wonderful. Carbs are definitely my downfall!!!! I also limit my meat intake, but it is hard to get enough protein to make me feel full and satisfied!!! Hubby and I did alot of walking yesterday and hope to do some today, grandbaby is keeping us busy
Hi, to everyone here, ATEAMNANA, Cookiemonster, Snobird!!!!! I am drinking lots of water and trying to not eat in between meals, chewing gum helps, too. Lots of hugs to you all.
-
Hi Kathy,
Here is the webpage with the recipe for the artisan bread. It's so easy. Copy and paste this link into your browser.
http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/2007-12-01/Easy-No-Knead-Dutch-Oven-Crusty-Bread.aspx?page=2
I usually double the recipe and use Better for Bread flour. You can use all purpose flour and produce a respectable loaf. I also bake mine in a large ceramic-coated cast iron Dutch oven. I had never baked bread before because I thought it would be such a lot of work. This recipe however is super easy. I also measure the temperature of the water with a digital thermometer so I don't kill the yeast. Mix up the dough tonight, and you'll be baking your first delicious loaf in the morning.
I will give you my banana bread recipe and another recipe that is great for losing weight, Taco Chowder, when I get time. Right now the painters are here.
Until soon...
