My SIL's dog licked a regular toad yesterday, and apparently didn't like the taste, as massive amounts of drooling ensued. Or maybe it was a coincidence. She drools when she chews on rocks, too. She doesn't swallow them, just tries to crack them in the back of her jaw and them drops them and drools. Strange dog.

I like unsweetened tea, as well. But growing up, it was always "unsweetened" and now, suddenly seems to be "unsweet", which sounds grammatically incorrect to me and bugs me.

Hmm, controversial subjects: I prefer Pepsi to Coke, lime over lemon, grapefruit over orange, Chevy over Ford, dark chocolate over milk or white chocolate. What else? I had Brussels sprouts for the very first time last weekend. Grilled. Meh. *ducks*

Well, to each her own. I have a real phobia about them. I even started treatment to address my phobia but could not continue because of my horror about ending up holding one. Yell

Don't know what's going on with Miss Poppy - she's taken to hiding under our bed when I want to try and put her out in the morning. The workmen are finished in our street for the time being so I can't see what is spooking her.

Thanks Yorkie, but she had been doing this while he was still here. We've had our gutters replaced over the last few weeks and she seemed to be spooked by the workmen outside. She's just getting too clever for me. I had no choice but to leave her in for the day.

Trolls you say? Here is our Seattle Troll, under the Aurora Bridge. That's a real Volkswagen he's clutching in his hand.

susie ... maybe she just decided it was much more comfy and peaceful sleeping in the house all day.  Cats are like that.  Then next week they decide just the opposite.  And a cat can get lots of places you can't (and faster) so you might as well just go with the flow IMHO.

Yorkie ... I don't have a phobia but I don't really want to be messing with frogs or toads either.  I'll join you on the frog free bench.  And we will pet puppies and kittens instead.

Mary ... now that is a troll I can appreciate!

Glad to see you checking in blue ... hope you feel better soon so you can come back and play with us.  And Pip you need to come see us more often too.

    Hi all,

Gosh, a lot happens when you're away for a few days. I've missed everyone, especially the camaraderie, on this thread. I've read through pages and pages so: dogs (allergic to cats), fresca, hate bats, toads and frogs are okay, love feeding birds, squirrels, raccoons, rabbits and deer, trolls are scary, hate brussel sprouts, love the new health care initiatives for women, wouldn't go to the atheist thread because I'm not an atheist, wouldn't go to a Republican website because I'm not a Republican, never knew what dressage was so thanks for all the lessons, come here for support and friendship. I'm not sure if I covered everything. Had my grandson over the weekend then went to Atlantic City for a couple of days to meet with my cousin and his wife from N.Y. Didn't win any money for my huge co-pays but had a good time anyway. Back to the Olympics and soon to bed. Will I get banned for saying the R word??

    Blue, feel better.

    Love the troll, Mary.

3montsmomma: Also loved the Tolkien troll poem, which, as I recall, was recited by Samwise Gamgee.  Hobbit's coming out at Christmas!

Susie:   I would also keep an eye to make sure that there's nothing wrong.  Cats hide when they feel vulnerable - or when they're sick.  Change in behavior could be just a cat being a cat - but it also could be a clue to an illness.  Hope not!!

YAY for cats and unsweetened ice tea.

Forgot to say, I got my bone density results yesterday - no signifcant change - Yeah for Zometa.

Poppy is fine, it has been cold, so I don't blame her wanting to stay in - apparently it was 4.6 degrees celcius this morning - I didn't feel it for some reason. 5 tomorrow morning.

Blue -- Thanks for the clip!  DH and I were discussing Gore Vidal's passing yesterday, and to brighten things up, he reminded me of Laugh-In and Lily Tomlin playing the telephone operator trying to reach Mr. Vidal:

    "One ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingies"

    "Hello, hello Mr. "Veedle"?"

"Is this the party to whom I am speaking?"

    "Snort, snort etc."

Man - I have been spending WAY too much energy working and not nearly enough time reading.

I can't be a cat or dog person or horse person or bird person because I've got these allergies that just kill me whenever I'm around any of 'em.  I love 'em all, but admit that I get po'd when people bring their beloved animal with them into a store or restaurant or winery or whatever.  There isn't any sympathy for people who just cannot breathe when confronted with animal dander.  (which I don't get.  They took peanuts off of airplanes because of allergies.... Cry)..  Domestic flying is fairly scarey for me because of the animals that are so often traveling companions...

    OK 'nuff belly-aching!

Unsweetened ice tea is my favorite drink.  I start drinking it in the morning and pretty much consume it all day long.  It doesn't matter if it is winter or summer.

Oh gardengumby - don't ever go to France!  Dogs are let in to the finest establishments!  Even Michelan 3 Stars (there are only 10 3 stars in France the year I ate at one - I wasn't paying!) There was a German Shepard under the table next to us!  In our hotel, a bulldog was sleeping on the lobby setee. Smile  I guess they do let animals on to airplanes, but the only other place I've seen them, storewise, in the USA, are in the Pet Stores...but I guess you wouldn't be going there.  Also, I'm curious about the dander issue, as I've seen, atleast with cats, it is actually the saliva that causes the problem, but if you never get near to the animal, how could that be?
