Nice Avatars. I was gonna change mine too but then I couldn't remember where I got the one I have and I know you would all miss Jim.
YAY, Athena is back. Sunflowers, get your butt back in here!
Thank you Mods for your explanation, but as Alexandria noted, her case looks pretty strong to me, so please relent. We all have bad days and sometimes read things into statements that aren't really there.
Shokk, thank you for stopping by. I think you're crazy and almost made me kill my dog, but I still love ya! As you can see I have lifted my self-imposed exile!
I've been busy with mushrooms..... hahahahhaha! Pics to follow!
-
Look what grew in my garden!

-
Oooooh, mushrooms! I also don't dare change my avatar, as I would probably lose my baby's pic forever. But my heart is in the right place.
-
Will you please come and weed my garden? I am in to rehydrate, but otherwise weed removing. Some are as tall as me. It's been too hot up to today to do anything outside, but today I took the day off to see if I could remove some of the biomass that is blocking my way down to the river.
I like your mushrooms, are they lamps? -
Pretty! Did you make those, Blue? I've seen variations of those at street fairs and have thought about attempting one myself.
Mary
-
what cool mushrooms!
What do you use to stick the "stem" to the top? Are they melted together or glued together? Are the stems glasses and the tops bowls? is the open part of the glass stem the part you put in the ground and the solid part stuck to the bowl?
(shheeessshhh - I'm awfully snoopy aren't I?)
-
Magic mushrooms!
-
Magic Mushrooms YES!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, very easy to make. Vases and bowls or glass plates glued together with silicone. We've been cleaning up the basement for a giant garage sale. I had most of the parts but went to our local thrift shop for what I was missing.

Kayfh. my Ray of sunshine does all the gardening or I'd come over in a New York minute. Love gardening but have severe limitations since my PD diagnosis. I'm likely to fall over if I try. My DBS surgery didn't ameliorate that aspect of the disease.

To Alexandria's excellent legalistic defense, I will add a "constitutional" one and say, for this argument, that BCOs rules must not only be observed, they must be understood. To the extent that the Mods have felt compelled to post both here and in the moderator's section explicating their point of view about sock puppet reporting, it appears that they acknowledge a need for clarification. Thus the understood part of the rules is implicitly acknowledge to have been absent.
I believe that what set the stage for Sun's ban was the issue of sock puppets and public reference thereof (if not by name, then by inference). Sun referenced the existence of sock puppets as have I several times. This led to what I will describe based on the pms published here as a testy exchange between her and the Mods, and culminated in bans.
I think any ban should be clear and unambiguous. Sun's ban is exactly the opposite. It rests on the mods' interpretation of an exchange that brought about by their point of view that sock puppetry should not be publicly discussed in the way it was - but the issue of sock puppetry and what to do about it is also absent from the community rules. This was clearly new territory under the new rules/moderation system. To my knowledge, the topic had not really come up the the newly moderated and rule-revamped BCO.
Therefore, I think the fair thing is for the mods to give Sun another chance and reinstate her. Your letter stands as precedent now and we all know what to do regarding sock puppetry. But a ban --even one for only two weeks-- should not be this unclear or contested. There's been a warning. Fine. Let's have her back.
Thank you, Justices. :-)

Someone stated a few pages back that Sunflowers does not want to return. Can't say I blame her.
Scan not much fun. Stupid veins. Had one of those, try here, no try there, ok one more time...Dig dig.. ...phooey call the IV expert. Finally.
See onc Tues.
. -
chickadee I am so sorry that the scan was a drag. fingers crossed for the onco. . . .
-
chickadee - sorry about the IV problems. They always have problems getting stuff in or out of my veins - I feel your pain!!! Good luck for Tuesday.
-
Well I just got back from my 2 year check up with my BS. So he says to me how did you get that nasty scar there along with the saroma? And do you have any pain from it? Well Dr from you I say. So now he says all smiles I can fix that right up for you. After 6 surgery's at that time to try to sew me up there is no way I want him trying to fix the scar!
-
Best of luck for Tuesday Chickadee!

Love all of the new avatars - especially the one of lions with sunflowers.
Welcome back Athena!!! I don't think Sun did anything wrong either.
Big planning going on here. Steve has signed us up for a cylcing holiday in New Zealand (help!!!) in February next year. Luckily it's a beginner type trip (mostly flat) but I will have to start riding a few times a week to get some fitness. We are going for 3 weeks so we can tour the South Island after the bike thing which goes for 5 days. He is so excited about it, I can't refuse. It's going to be our 60th birthday and 35th wedding anniversary present. Although I can think of other things I'd rather for my birthday in September
The good thing is that if you can't ride for some reason, they will transport you and your bike in the support vehicle - I can see me taking up that offer. The ride follows an old rail line - it's called the Otago Rail Trail Classic.Poppy has been cheeky and has been opening the front screen door by herself and coming back inside after I leave for work- loves her nest when it's cold.
Chickadee - hope the scan is boring (the term we use when someone has a scan)

Susie, I'm glad YOU are back too. That New Zealand trip sounds like a wonderful motivator. Exercise helps, apparently....

on your BS question about your scar. Amazing how he didn't apologize for the scar, just said he could "fix it up for you". My PS asked me if I was OK with my belly button... he moved it because of the DIEP, made it too small with the scarring (I have to clean it with a q-tip now, as my finger won't fit in it anymore), and it's a little higher than it used to be and slightly off-center. I told him it didn't bug me enough to get cut on again!!! If nothing else, I'm adaptable. Stubborn, but adaptable
-
Athena - I haven't been gone , just busy at work and tired at night.
-
Gardengumby, my DIEP bellybutton is too small, too! I can't put my finger in it either -- I have to use a Q-tip. Mine didn't move -- he left it where it was, pulled the skin up and cut a new hole for it. The hole was apparently too small, so now I have a little belly button. I asked him about it, and he looked at me quizzically and said he had never had a patient complain about a too-small belly button. I don't want to get it changed, either -- 4 surgeries in 9 months is more than enough!
Chickadee, sorry about the veins! Fingers crossed for FABULOUS results!
L -
Chickadee: Sending good thoughts into the universe for good results for you.
-
HL - they probably never ask anyone about the belly button thing. At least I have one - the resident told me they were going to remove it altogether, but I pitched a fit - I like my belly button (well, I like it a little less now than I used to) - I'd feel like i was supposed to be Eve or something if I didn't have one... LOL
-
HAHAH, GG... One of the things I asked about before surgery was my belly button. I had read that some women got new ones or got theirs moved, and that grossed me out (funny how the little things can do you in!). I said, in a quivery, grossed-out voice, "And do you MOVE my belly-button or just take it away and give me a fake one?" He said, very calmly and soothingly, "You get to keep your belly button and it will stay in the same place. I will just pull the skin up over it and cut a new hole for it." DH thought it was sort of funny that I was worried about that, but it just creeped me. I didn't want to be Eve or Barbie either ... And, oddly, I kept thinking about the fact that it was my last connection to my mother, who died the year before my second dx.

I have been a very good otter.
For many months now, I've managed to stay away from the spats on these Boards ... even though I have very strong opinions about some of the topics being debated. I've employed a degree of willpower I never thought I had.
But... I must say that I am saddened by the banning of our good friend Sunflowers. I have not wandered over to certain threads where the fires may or may not have been ignited. I don't plan to go there. I am keeping my curiosity in check, mostly because I have seriously grim things going on in my non-virtual life and I don't have time for the game-playing. So, I don't have all the facts or know all the details.
What I do know is that Sunflowers has been my most reliable source of fresh abalone. No matter the topic or the mood, she would toss me an abalone in gratitude for something I did, or as a compliment for something I said. She and I have frequented other "strange" threads on these Boards besides this one. Her manners, demeanor, and generosity have been exemplary. I will miss her.
Sunflowers, I apologize for speaking about you as if you have died. I am sure you have a fulfilling life outside these Boards. Go live it, with joy. If we cross paths elsewhere or again, I will be a happier otter. And, no, I do not know where you keep the abalone.

I'm still hoping Sun comes back.
-
Wow...I missed a whole lot of pages in the 10 hours I was out...
Athena, I am so glad to see you back.
Sunflowers, I am so sorry to see you are not back.
Chickadee, I hope your scans went well...

Found this link on FB. Interesting Article.

Wow. You never realize how what you take for granted is so amazing to a person from another culture. That's why I found the SCOTUS decision "discussion" so fascinating.
-
Interesting article, absolutely... It always is so interesting to me when a person on the right wing comes to similar conclusions as mine with an entirely different basis of reasoning. It reminds me of the newly developing religious movement to protect the environment based on respect for God's creation. In the case of this article, though, she really is using the same exact reasoning I do. Respect for the already born is respecting life. I hold out hope that we in the US can find our shared values and leave the others on the back burner...

Miss you sunflowers!
