Howdy CLC, nice to see you round these parts.
-
The hot toddy worked until 5:45 this morning, when I started coughing my lungs out and woke up my babies, who in turn made a racket to get me out of bed. They're going on kijjii today.........AS IF! hahahahhaahaaha!
-
I wondered why you were up so early Blue - get well soon
((((((((HUGS)))))))))
-
LMBO about the hairy kids going on Kijiji.
-
I like the look of the word Kijiji!
-
Blue, I'm not sure....

Welcome, CLC (and belatedly to Marple). I mainly lurk ... but every once in a while I come out of the corner to bat a fur mouse around.
Lots of fireworks in our neighborhood, too. *SIGH* We watch the fireworks on the Mall on TV. Everyone should go once when they're young and can tolerate the heat -- the best time ever for Mall fireworks was in 1981 at the Beach Boys concert on the Mall. Second-best was Mary-Chapin Carpenter.
Pock suppets ... the more things change, the more they remain the same. I'm staying away from certain neighborhoods ... others are doing a fine, fine job of presenting facts to the stubbornly misinformed. I'm in the cheering section.
My mama cat decided she was mad because I wouldn't open the window over the desk for her to look out this morning, so she slapped a big thermal cup of scalding coffee off the desk and into my lap. I have some nice burns on my inner thighs ... 1st degree so I'll be OK, but I also have one cat who better stay hiding for the rest of the day. Fortunately I have ice packs and a huge bottle of aloe -- and DH made me a new cup of coffee.
That's the news and commentary from the basement ...

Ouch! (And "ouch" in other neighborhoods too, although I have enough people on ignore to merely suppose what is going on.) Pock suppets or not, there are certainly fertile grounds for a few who are nuffing tucks to wade in.
-
HL are you STILL in the basement? Yikes!
Blue - send Virgil to me - Munch was up at 6 this morning (again) I think it must have something to do with the heat - doesn't everything?
-
208sandy -- we do have power (got it back on Monday night), but I'm in the basement because I'm working from home today and tomorrow. I start back in the office Monday, working half-days for a couple weeks. I'm easing back into the work-world slowly. 4 surgeries with 3 intubations in 9 months took it out of me. Basement isn't so bad ...

L
-
HL - you certainly have been through it all in the last nine months - haven't you? I didn't think you were even back to work yet - glad you'll be easing in. I WAS worried that you were still without power - whew! Sorry about the "bad" cat (and the burns - ow!
-
HL~
I second that about the Beach Boys on the Mall...
those were the days.
-
Awww, man, Ang, ... that Beach Boys concert was the best concert EVER. We were 23 and we didn't care about being hot or sunburnt! I went with my girlfriend and her boyfriend and we spent the whole day. We walked up to the McDonald's on K Street to get something to eat after the concern and we came back and lay on the Washington Monument hill to watch the fireworks. They looked like they were coming down on top of us. No Fourth of July celebration has ever been so perfect since!

Hi, all, cheerios to CLC - has everyone noticed her FABULOUS "tag line" - I LOVE IT. Have writen it on a card which is on my bulletin board. JUST LOVE IT.
Well, most friends in the DC area got their electricity back last night - can't imagine what their refridgerators/freezers must look like.
Goregous here in the hills of western MA - sunny, actually had to water my veggie garden, munching on delicious sugar snap peas as I type. A lovely little toad has taken up residence in my mint garden, expect the saucer fulls of water may have enticed him ( her?) now have to watch out for garter snakes to keep Toad safe. That's about the level of activity in these parts for this Sunflower.
Back to learning to sew...
think there's a popsocket on a thread I've visited too....grrrrrr....but mods are being very effective too...zapping when they can

Two observations today. Well actually 3.
1. I wet my pants every time I sneeze or cough. WTF!
2. My dogs are really cats in disguise. Went out to buy dog food, didn't have my glasses on (I'm as blind as a bat without them) and got cat food instead. Didn't want to go back (I'm a lazy liberal). They ate it! All of it!!!! That's a first. I usually have to cook for the spoiled brats.
3. Some people just don't make sense.
-
My dogs love the cat food. I think it's the salt in the cat food. Always had to put it out of reach of the dogs.
-
Blue,
age, medications, PD, and having children - KEGEL exercises, also thin pads. Annoying, annoying, annoying - same here, but not for all those reasons...
also a factor if anyone has had a hysterectomy...usually has some level of what is called, get ready for it: stress incontinence
-
I wet my pants when I laugh, sneeze or cough, too. And, I hate Kegels. Maybe that's why I still wet my pants...
Sunflowers, I am glad we are sharing the tagline...:)
-
CLC and other newbies. Welcome to our BCO B&G. Our chief bartender has several secret recipies that have made her famous the world over.
I drink to the "ignore" function tonight!
Blue: as long as it's not a number 2....

-
I'll drink to that!
-
Toast to Scootaloo for being willing to read sophistry...a BIG toast!
-
I gotta thank those ladies. I just checked some penny stock I invested in and had given up on and to my surprise it went up to 1.40. I bought at .17. heheheheheh Too bad I didn't buy too much as it was pretty high risk!
-
Thanks, Athena. Anybody got some extra tequila?
-
Sophistry is such an excellent word.
-
I'm having Jack Daniels!
-
In my hot toddy! heheheh!
-
Mumpsimus is a good one, too.
-
Email me a hot toddy, would you?
-
Sure thing. I've had enough for today.......off to bed with me.
-
Oh my gosh...you are not kidding, Scootaloo. That is an absolutely excellent word. And completely new to my vocabulary. I will have occasion to use it. Probably way more frequently than would be ideal. It reminds me of when I learned the word unctuous. Unfortunately, that describes half of the people I work with. The half that is in charge...
Thank you. I consider a day in which I learn something new a day lived well.
