I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

If you pull a boat you get a free pass. :-) I should mention the SUVs I don't like are in cities or crowded highways used by people who neither drive over rugged terrain, have big cargo to pull nor even big families. They just take up everybody's space so that the cars behind them can't see. When I had cars they were all smallish sedans. SUVs were my Nemeses. Their headlights were awful, too.
My "smart" phone has dropped more calls than I can count. Either it's Verizon's fault or the fault of my ear. Never did that happen with my old rotary phone. Or with those big clunky cellphones.

Kira - if it is Aromasin (exemestane) you might feel better on it - I sure do. I have a spark back that was missing on Arimidex but I have gained weight on it. We need new computers too, I've been mulling it over for ages. I'm still on WinXP. I was looking at those new 'all in ones' but will probably go with a cheap replacement box (CPU) - no need for new monitors etc. I also examined just getting a new hard drive - I know a guy who will transfer everything over and install Win 7 for me - he wants $300 to do that, but I can get a whole new box for $500 odd.
My phone was $49 and doesn't even have a camera and I don't even turn it on. Those smart phones are a big trap over here with people ending up with huge bills without realising it.
Athena - I don't like SUV's either but DH has a 4WD and yes, he goes off road and up the beach fishing. I don't like FB either.
-
We had a suv which I enjoyed kinda felt like I owned the rode, but the gas was nuts. I love my small car with great mileage.
susieq58, the thought of having the spark back is very appealing. The last 2 weeks have given me a peek at the old me, and I have to say I love how I am feeling. The weight gain was something I was afraid of being a drug with a steroid in it somehow.
My son has told me not to invest in a rebuilt computer which is what I was considering. I just don't know which way to go, he seems to feel I am made of my which I'm not, and even if I did waste my money on the higher priced ones I never do any anything with it anyway other than talk here, look at face book, and check my email.
-
Kira - I was very depressed on Arimidex and it is wonderful to feel normal again.
-
kira, if all you do is email and browse, you should probably go with something small like a tablet or netbook (tablet is probably the best bet) you don't need the horsepower of a desktop if you don't use it for running applications or gaming. We moved from a desktop to a laptop, and I honestly regret not just dropping down to a tablet - though I have a couple of sewing/embroidery applications that I use the laptop for and they wouldn't have worked on a tablet. but the tablet are so nice and small and light - and weight means a lot to me.
-
susieq58 how happy I am to hear that. I was given depression pills just before I broke out with the rash which I am glad to say I hadn't stated yet. I can't believe how different I feel off the stuff, I just hope the new meds will not give me the depression the Femara did along with the rash of course.
-
Congrats on thr new grandchild!!!!!!!!!
I was out most of today, but did manage to read a bit. Nice to be back.
-
Blue it is so good to see you agian. You were really missed.
gardengrumpy the idea of a tablet never even crossed my mind. What are they may I ask?
-
Kira - I hope it does work for you - a rash wouldn't have been nice.
Blue - seeing it will take you years to go back over everything - here's a pic of the new arrival. We won't get to see him in person until 18th June.
Did your daughter get married yet?

-
susieq58 Your new grand child he looks adorable! As far as the rash no it was not nice.! I had it in my mouth as well as not mentionable areas. Very happy I have no lingering effects now with the meds they gave me.
-
I think he's cute too - still trying to get Annie to get Skype - it's not long until we go down there anyway. I don't think I would have liked to be itchy in unmentionable areas - eek.
-
skype is great. We have it for my brother. Without it we would never talk. He is a missionary in Japan. No itche in the mouth as well as those areas is not nice!
-
No not yet. Date set for September 29th. Starting to organize for a shower for her in August. Baking cookies, making invitations, decorating the bombonere and prizes, etc. etc. etc. Thank goodness I had the insight to buy all those at the Ganz sale last Christmas. Will be a busy few months but a good busy. We're gonna have a pool party shower. hehehehe!
-
Your grandson is adorable!
-
What's a bombonere?
Mary
-
Thanks Blue!! It's so good to have you back.

Kira, "compliant husband" is one of the positive side effects of BC.

Happy Memorial Day everyone. Enjoy the war movies on TV. :-)
I am not sure how lions turn into pumpkins, but that is the transformation I am about to embark on in a week's time.
Remember that I resigned from my job in mid-April because my supervisor was intolerable (to me and many others)? Next week is my last week. I love the work, the mission, etc. and will miss it but I am glad to be going. I have been working like mad trying to finish up projects, and I may still do some work for them in the future as a consultant.
However, I don't yet have a new permanent job, so it's cat food time form me, and I don't mean zebras or buffaloes, but Iams's "ocean fish." I am not too worried yet, and my search only picked up recently.....but hope I find something soon.
It's strange to think that I might have nothing to do for a while. I don't do well with too much time on my hands, especially in bad, hot weather. I don't feel like volunteering or starting up an exciting project because the "nose to the grindstone" part of me would be too worried about fining a job to even enjoy myself properly. I know, it's said. :-) I live in a town of neurotic workaholics, so I'm in my element here.
I have loads of hobbies, too. I like change in principle, but not the uncertainty in this case. Feeling like a lioness watching the herds migrate away from pride territory during dry season. Keeping paws crossed as long as I still have them...won't know what to cross once I turn into a pumpkin. Maybe cross-breed with a melon or a cantaloupe?

Good Morning Everyone!
Hope you guys are having a good holiday. We got a lot done around here and sure did eat well for three days. Tim bbq'ed all three nights he was home .. yay! I didn't have to do any cooking, except make some potato salad.
Athena .. I hope something turns up for you soon. I hate that feeling of 'uncertainty.'
Blue .. I am so glad you're back and feeling good. That Mirapex is an evil drug with those side effects. It sounds like lots of happy times are coming up for you.
Susie .. Can you buy a camera for the computer to skype? I don't have one built into my computer. I would love to be able to see my boys when I talk to them.
Well ... I need to get dressed, walk the dogs and mow the lower pasture.
love to all,
Bren

Athena = "a town of neurotic workaholics"
I think it's worse than that, remember, I did live there for a long time...PLEASE give yourself time to do a few things you really enjoy, tho' looks like you're in for some bummer weather. Liking change in principle is a good place to start...bet something wonderful evolves from this next stage...ROAR!Kira - sorry about the depression, tho I always spell it with a capital D cuz I have such ferocious respect for its power. Be as gentle with yourself as you can be, when the "little white pills" take ALL the ESTROGEN out of our bodies, our bodies physical and emotional can put up quite a fight. Honestly don't know how anyone can take an AI without at least starting with an antidepressant, until our bodies adjust to the new regime. At least on the AI's there are a number of choices. Feel so sorry for women on Tamoxifen who are given "effexor" - I happened to be one of those who had a ghastly experience with it years b4 bc.
Oooohhhh, Blue...I want one of those sugary almond thingies....
-
Sweet g'baby pic Susie.

Athena
You need 4wheel drive to get up my driveway. I have an Outback which is getting 30 miles to the gallon. Sometimes I think it is too big for me but my DH is big AND tall.
Now, Scoot as to your comment "Inconceivable" I do not think that word means what you think it means.
We are watching "The Princess Bride" . My daughter says, "As you wish." means bite me.
-
Bren - I have a camera and we Skype with our son. Our daughter didn't know how to download it or something. She's going to get the SIL to do it. She thinks the baby smiled a bit at her yesterday - I doubt it, but she can think that if she wants.
Just got up - stupid idiot hubby left the heater on overnight - not looking forward to seeing the next power bill. Still, seeing the pool pump is out of commission that might make up for it.
-
kira - a tablet is like an iPad. They have a variety of "apps" (applications) that are available - but they are mostly for people like us who browse and email. they are really light. The only problem is that the keyboard is also on the screen. I have only played with one a tiny bit, so don't know how much I'd dislike that.
-
Athena - good to hear you will be free in a week. I do hope you find something else soon - consulting sounds good.
-
Boy is it ever hot today. Virg just loves lying in the sun. I can't stand it and neither can Lilah even though she has been shaved to the skin.
Bean salad and fruit salad for dinner tonight. Too hot for anything else.
-
blue, that sounds good. I'd even go for potato salad. Oh. Never mind - you have to cook potato salad, and that would heat up the kitchen.
otter (who is responsible for fixing supper tonight but doesn't have a clue)
-
utz sour cream and onion, because I'm being bad. Yes, it is awfully hot.
-
Chicken, corn on the cob and hotdogs, cooked by DH. Coleslaw and pasta salad brought by daughter and tossed salad made by me.
It is a beautiful day and cooler than the 90s it was supposed to be. One daughter, two sons and 3 grandkids are here. The little ones and their mom and I went swimming and weeded the garden. The guys watched movies. Now DH is cookin. It's a good day.
