congrats on it being over. Hopefully you'll not need nor see a surgeon for a long long long time to come!!! Now take the time to get in some good relaxation!
-
cyberhugs back!

Glad you are home and resting HL...
Well, they seem to think my pain could be from infection somewhere in the body?
The area is on both sides where the lymph nodes are.
Not sure what we do from here but at least I am not freaking out...
-
Glad all went well and you are home!
-
I love everything life has to offer except small minded people.
I'm glad you're home HL! When I had my ooph, it was a piece of cake. A few months ago I had to fill out a questionnaire at the physio therapy. They asked if I had had any surgeries and my daughter started with abdomen, then chest, then neck, then when we got to brain, we both burst out laughing. hehehehehehe!
Ang, hope they figure out where thw infection is.
Hey Scoot, you'll be scooting all over the place before you know it.
Gotta go.....Virg is honkytonking.
-
Does that mean he is doing a number two?
-
Libby - glad it's over - no more surgery for ever!!!
-
HL - lots of love going your way - glad you're finished with surgery for a very long time.
Blue - I've missed stories of Virg and his honkytonking - Munchkin honkytonks back!
-
Athena, Virg looks like a dog but sounds like a duck. He needed to go out.
Thanks Sandy, slowly getting back into my groove.
-
Libby
Good to see you back. I hate jello, especially lime.
-
Yay, Libby! Isn't it so nice when things go well for once?
I'm still waiting on the A/C repair, but it rained last night and cooled off about 10°, so it's "only" 77° inside today. I'm enjoying it, but wonder what running the A/C and floor fan continuously is going to do to my electric bill next month. Ah well, that's next month.
The doc finally called back about my wrist MRI; I have tendonopathy on the radial (thumb) side, so it's off to PT and some "eccentric exercises" to strengthen the ligaments and tendons on that side. It wasn't a repetitive stress thing, it was a one time "really overdid it" thing that caused strains and microtears in the tendons of my wrist. Back to sleeping with the brace on, and I'll have to investigate something I can wear while typing, etc. I'm getting old and falling apart.

OUCH! I hate it when my body betrays me like that. In the cheer up things could be worse department, my friend was at a baseball game and was skipping down the concrete ramp when she fell and broke her hip. No osteoporosis, just too much force on it. She was 57, I believe. That was almost 3 years ago. Now people keep telling her it is time to grow up. She says never and I am with her.
-
Hi Everyone!
Riley .. hope you're not in a lot of pain.
Rosemary ... your friend is crazy! I'm 56 now and I'm careful I don't fall and break a bone. My mom still does crazy stuff too, and she fell recently. Now she's playing racquetball again. I hope she doesn't break anything.
Libby ... hope you're feeling better today. It's so nice to have those ovaries gone and no more periods. I had mine uterus taken out when I was in my mid thirties ... never regretted it!
Hope everyone is enjoying their day,
Bren
PS ... I love Virgil and I miss hearing him honk!
-
Riley - hope your wrist heals FAST. I got the splints I wore for months ( when I began Arimidex) at the local pharmacy. It took a few says, but I was able to type wearing them. And, I'm a broken record on this, but PLEASE buy and use some ARNICA GEL on your wrist too. HEALING, really. Can't figure out the "why" it works, but it really does.
HL - Jeez, you really are a little kid! SO YOUNG! Glad the surgery is ovah ( as my Boston friends would say) and if you're going to be on an AI, there's a thread to help you. Started by lowrider, l-o-n-g, but all SE's are helped by someone's experience.
Ang - hope the "infection" is found SOON, and easily healed.
Blue - small minded people? I'm on so few threads now, I happily seem to miss most of them.
Athena, can't imagine how you are dealing with this weather - if the Berkshire Mts are the saunas they are, oh, my, what must DC be enduring. And it ain't even summer - but the thunderstorm, lightening and BOOMERS we have been having sure feel like summer. As 2 years ago, we had frost on June 2, I'm still not putting out my tomato plants. SunGold little ones, growing season really too short for a big tomato. Eating lettuce from my garden, and wood sorrel ( lemony) is wild, mustard greens, will be lovely when tomato can be added.
Hope all enjoyed a happy holiday weekend.
-
We miss you too Bren.
-
I try to be active but I sure can't do what I used to do. An hour in the garden does me in. If it doesn't rain, I'll take the kayak out tonight. That is on a nice flat lake, not on some crazy river.
I was going to go buy plants for the garden but then I will have to put them in the ground. Maybe I'll go in a little while or maybe tomorrow.
-
Hurrah for HL being done with surgery (like you I had the murderous little bastards yanked because I just knew they were in there, plotting against me); for blue being back, for rosemary owning a kayak (color me jealous!) for all the good stuff.
Here's to all the owies and infections beating a hasty retreat so we can all get cracking on SUMMER!!!!!
I find I am in a fairly upbeat mood today. I credit the giant chunk of theo's fair trade orange dark (70%) chocolate that I just consumed. For as long as I have to deal with my mother and her craziness, i have decided to liberally apply the chocolate. So far, so good!
-
I still don't know what Virgil's "honks" are....
Sunflowers - as I said before, I am just finding the biggest acacia tree I can and staying there! I have two dr's appts. next week and I am dreading going out in that oppressive, airless, chocking sun.
-
Sunflowers, I'll have to get some arnica gel, but I (mistakenly) thought it was just for bruises. Thanks for the tip!
In other news, my wonderful, fantastic Litter-Robot started making squealing noises yesterday as it sifts and dumps the litter, BUT customer service is on it. Good news, bad news - the motor must be replaced
, but all I need to do is box up the base and they will pick it up in the morning. It will go to Michigan to have the motor replaced and then back to me within 2 days! Free.
I love my Litter-Robot! I just COULD NOT have 3 cats if I were scooping litter. The place doesn't smell like cat, and I just replace the bag holding the dumped clumps every 2 or 3 days.So now I need to pick up a few disposable litter boxes from PetSmart to get us through. They're less than $5, so not a big problem.

Speaking of....dinnertime, maybe we should start eating tomatoes. Did y'all know that they are more complex than Humans?
Here goes:
More Genes Than Humans: The Tomato Decoded
From The New York Times:
The tomato, whose genome has just now been decoded, turns out to be one well-endowed vegetable, possessing 31,760 genes. This rich legacy, possibly a reflection of the disaster that killed off the dinosaurs, is some 7,000 more than that of a person, and presents a complex puzzle to scientists who hope to understand its secrets.

Riley - arnica gel is excellent for bruises - if you put it on immediately, it prevents swelling & that awful black & blue color. But I've also used it for sore muscles, much more gentle than Tiger Balm, but that is also something I always have at hand. It comes in big PATCHES now, so you don't have to worry about staining when you use on of their patches. The Red TB is stonger than the whiwte.
-
so Athena, now that we know tomatoes are more complex than silly humans, should we draw the conclusion that "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" is a potential threat?
oh dear. I will have to be nicer to my tomato plants. . . . -
no wonder sungold tomatoes taste so delicious...
-
possibly....
I now wonder how "complex" ketchup is.
-
Athena - I am pretty sure that ketchup is pretty complex. After all it is almost impossible to get Heinz out of the bottle!
I forget about my "new normal" - I am still stuck in the house with bronchitus. Every time I overdo it physically I tend to get sick if exposed to the smallest germ. I never got sick prior to BC. Heck I hadn't been to the doctor in over 10 years except for broken bones.
I haven't seen my horse in 6 days now and am itching to drive out there but 2 hours of driving is probably asking too much right now.
-
(((((Jancie))))) - rest up and get better.
-

Jancie - lol!
Get better!

Good Afternoon Friends,
I spent two hours at the vets today with my Maggie. She has a torn ACL and a bad tooth. She has to have surgery next Wednesday. My stomach dropped when I saw the bill. I could have cried right on the spot. I did get some pain meds for her and they seem to be helping. She's hopping around here on three legs.
A big storm is rolling in. The thunder clouds are getting big and dark. It's supposed to rain later and all day tomorrow. Yay! I won't have to water my flowers.
Jancie .. I am so sorry to hear you're sick. Six days is a long time without your horse. How come you have to board her so far away?
Hope everyone is doing okay,
Bren
-
Jancie, hope you get to feeling better.
It seems so weird but since the mastectomy I haven't gotten a cold or anything viral. I still seem to bring it home to hubby, but I seem to be managing to avoid it. For the 3 years before my diagnosis I got anything and everything that flew by me - I just figured my body isn't having to fight the cancer anymore, so it's extra special on top of all the rest of the stuff.
-
Bren - so sorry to hear that Maggie needs surgery. To think that they can do that type of surgery on small animals. Medicine has come so far (except for the cure for cancer).
As far as Jazzy - there is only one great facility in the valley and unfortunately a psycho runs the place. The place has 40 stalls and she can't keep it 1/2 full because she is off the wall. You never know when she is going to blow up in your face.
Finding a place that has a large indoor arena and pasture turn out is nearly impossible. You get one or the other but not both. This is why I have her in Heber as they have a nice indoor arena, 2 outdoor arenas and 30 acres of pasture. The barn is heated in the winter and so is the indoor arena.
I really thought I might be able to drive up there today but then got dizzy taking a shower so I am sticking to the house another day.
