Rosemary - so sorry about your friend, sending a hug.
-
Thanks for the hugs. It seems my friend's friends loved her a lot more than her family, how sad. My DH spent a lot of time at the funeral dinner telling family member how important she was to her friends and our church, I had to leave before he did.
-
(((((Rosemary))))) sending love and hugs your way. Your friend lives on in the love in your heart. She clearly touched many lives in a positive way, and her goodness has made a difference in the world.

Rosemary - so very sorry. Hugs and love from Utah!

My dh finally made it back home. He has been gone all but 2 days in over a 3 week period. Now that I have adjusted to him being gone -he is getting in my way! Next thing you know he will go upstairs and take over the remote to my TV in the bedroom and we will have to watch what HE wants to watch.
Then I wait for him to fall asleep and I go back downstairs to the other bedroom and watch TV until 1 am.
I gave him leftovers for dinner tonight - didn't feel like cooking a meal after cleaning my house all day long and running laundry. Oh, and I had to go to the grocery store so basically from 11 am to 7:30 pm - I was working being a good housewife.
It is going to be a long weekend!
-
Thanks, Athena. I also worry about the wrong medication being given to many based on those kind of lab tests. They also had my TSH almost TWICE what it is. I was going to take MORE medication for that, before getting the correct test results. TERRIFYING. Not sure what to do, except write to head of the group with what happened to me. It's a HUGE medical group in western MA.
-
I think you should write. If you are talking about thyroid medicine (none of my beeswax, but it just occurred to me), making adjustments based on faulty lab tests could potentially have made your condition worse.
I'd also put in a word to the state regulatory body of the company that analyzes drug tests. The feedback could help other patients.
-
WOW - thanks Athena - didn't KNOW there was a state regulatory body of the lab. WILL CHECK ON MONDAY! Great idea.
-
Sun, google something like "Massachusetts board of medicine" and see if there is a place to complain about labs. If you find the name of the lab, you can also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau - you contact the BBB closest to where that lab is based. A final option I can think of is to contact the MA department of business regulation and see if you can find a section for testing labs.

Good Morning Everyone!
It's another perfect weather day for Athena. I wish it would warm up some ... only reaching the mid 70's today.
Blue called my best friend Brenda yesterday. She's really struggling. The medicine she takes for her Parkinson's is doing a great job with those symptoms, but the side effects are tearing her up. She's just not herself and doesn't feel comfortable posting the way she's been feeling.
Let's start a card shower for her. I'm sure it will lift her spirits to hear from us. PM if you need her address.
I need to get outside and start mowing. Have the upper field and back 40 to do and want to get it all done today ... it's supposed to rain the next three days.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Bren

Bren
just pm'd you....let's do something SPECTACULAR...
-
Thanks Sunnyflowers ... got your message. I don't know what else we can do. Let's put our heads together on this one.
hugs,
Bren

Bren, I was thinking if she had a "special" hobby, we could send her something related to that? Isn't her daughter's wedding soon - hope she'l be ok for that? Or did it already happen????
-
I'm concerned about her.
-
Yes, please include me on whatever we're going to do for Blue. I have her address already and I'm planning on sending her a card. I was wondering about her daughter's wedding as well. My brother had Parkinson's and it can be a nasty, nasty disease. Sometimes the treatment is worse than the actual disease, and it sounds like this may be so for Blue. I'm sure thinking of and praying for her.
We are having a beautiful Mothers' Day weekend here in the Seattle area. It's supposed to get up to 80 tomorrow which is just perfect.
29 more days of school before summer break(but who's counting???
)Mary
Edited to add: Susie, I don't think I've told you how beautiful your new grandbaby is!
-
(((MARY))) LOL...who's counting
-
Thankyou Mary - he is cute - last I heard on Friday night they were still in hospital. I expect she'll call today as it's Mother's Day here today too. They had taken him out of the special UV crib, so they were close to going home.
I do so miss Blue - so sorry she's not well. Please send her my love. The new format would probably keep her away anyway - still annoyed it's all so big.
Our weather is SO glorious - 80 today and it's supposed to be Autumn.
Did a big clothing shop yesterday. It seems Aromasin has made me gain a lot of weight (my excuse) and my work suits didn't fit me anymore - had to climb up in our wardrobe and find the old ones. I decided to buy a couple of new ones and the store I went to had 30% off everything, so I got 2 new suits and ended up with 5 new work shirts from different stores. I'm taking one shirt back today - decided it was too shiny - grey with silver stripes - weird - don't know why I bought it. I now have a pile of stuff to get dry cleaned and then I'm all set for whenever winter hits.
-
susie
Aromasin is a reason not an excuse for gaining weight. I lost about 3kg (8lbs) when I went off AIs and I did not eat differently at all. Not what is the reason I have started to gain it back?
Sigh, now not not
-
I was OK on Arimidex so I just don't know. I haven't changed what I eat - admittedly I'm naughty all the time but I don't eat a lot. I did tell the onc and he said they've done studies that show it doesn't cause weight gain - go figure. I'm back to the weight I was before bc - I miss being 22lbs lighter. Maybe this is my 'natural' weight

-
We're going to a Mother's Day breakfast at Steve's golf club - bad thing is, my ex husband (from 1973!!!) will probably be there. He's the new club president and it is most unfortunate Steve belongs to that club. After all those years - there he was. At first he didn't know who Steve was, but at a dinner a couple of years ago he spotted me - eeek!! We've been married 35 years this year, so I'm glad he dumped me all those years ago. I remember sitting there at that dinner and looking over at him, thinking boy was I lucky - what did I ever see in him.
Looks like watering the garden is on the agenda - we've had no rain for ages now and it might start wilting any minute now.
-
Ok, if anyone is interested in helping a lovedon to quit smoking, I finally put together some posts on my thread that explain how smoking affects cognitive function. I link totudies....those studies also state that cognitive decline can be reversed with cessation.
I have been so "on the ball" and precise since quitting. My general intelligence was not affected, but I think my brain is more finely tuned. The difference for me has been amazing. I did not understand WHY this was so...until I stumbled on some studies.
Read on....

Happy Mothers Day to those of you who are Mum's.
Breakfast was nice except for the presence of my ex, his brother and his mother - I just stayed right away - to the extent of getting the lady we were eating with to go and get me some food as they were too close for comfort. Also saw a woman from my work (ex boss) with her 2 kids - wow I wish I looked that good after 2 babies.
Annie home with baby - first night went fine except their cat played up all night.
Got to Skype with our son in London and saw our other grandbaby - he's so cute. I wish we could be closer to them.
Watered the garden this afternoon - remember I said it was 80 yesterday, well a cool change is coming - down to 70 tomorrow. I'll be able to wear one of my suits tomorrow.
Time for bed - still hate the new board look - lots of work to do tomorrow.
-
Happy Mother's Day to everyone who is a mother!
-
Happy Mothers Day to all. Had a lovely morning with my DH. We had a fire in the yard early in the morning before the heat sets in for the day. What a nice way to start the morning.
-
Why thank you. Since we do not celebrate, I have to get my congrats of the interwebz, lol.
-
Happy Mothers Day. Six kids and eight grandkids were here. It was fun but I was asleep on the couch before the last one left. It has been a hard week.
-
Did anyone see Google's ADORABLE Mother's Day homepage. Go to google.com now - before Midnight. :-) The two little o'o's jump on the second 'g' and give her a kiss and flowers. I do love Google's artistry.
-
DD called in tears - baby back in hospital - his levels went back up. More UV light for him - hopefully it will resolve in the next few days.
-
susieq58, I know how upset that must make her. My first was a preemie, and we had to put her under UV till it was resolved. I will keep good thoughts the levels come down quickly so he can be back home with his family.
-
Good Morning Everyone!
The weather sucks. It's been raining all night and is supposed to rain all day today and tomorrow. Not enjoying this at all. At least I don't have to water all the flowers.
Gals .. Don't forget about the card shower for Blue. Please PM if you need her addy.
Susie .. I'm sorry your little baby had to go back under the lights. Keeping him in my thoughts.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Bren
