    Hello everybody!

I had the 6 mo check ( one year since ovca surgery on feb 9) and CA 125 is still 5. My next app is April 26. The BC tumor marker is 4, so all good there, too.

I am feeling good and I wish you all NED days to come.

    xoxo

Hi my Dec. Divas!  Just thought I'd check in and it looks like everyone is doing ok.  Has anyone heard from busqueen in the last few months?  I went to MN and saw her last summer.  She is an awesome woman.  She broke her hip a couple months ago and was so down.  I haven't heard from her since.  I'm worried about her.

I myself am doing fine.  NED.  Went off the Tamoxifen in Feb and I'm on an AI now for two years.  Then, no more cancer drugs for me.  Yea!  My joints are starting to hurt pretty good from the AI but so far nothing I can't manage.  I had a DEXA done after chemo and I had some bone loss.  I'll  have another DEXA in June.  Hope all is still good.  My teeth are starting to break.  My dentist said most likely from the chemo.  Nice.  Pretty soon the dental implant people will be appropriate.

Summer is just around the corner and I've been playing in the dirt already.  The weather is so nice, it's hard not to start planting.  Yell

    Hugs to you all!!!

Well, I heard from one of our other divas that busqueen lost her battle a few weeks ago. SUCKS!

I also learned today that another BCO sister passed a few days ago. You know, you go along just trying to live your life and people you know and love keep being stricken. So far in these few months of 2012, My aunt has recurrent colon ca with lung mets, my cousin, her daughter has ovarian ca, a good friend here in Denver has BC recurrence and two BCO friends are gone. That flippin' black clound just keeps following and sometimes I wonder when will it be my turn again?

How can so much money be raised to cure cancer over the years and people are still dying?

Busqueen was such a special person.  Though i never met her, I did speak to her on the phone and we emailed.  She kept her spirits up throughout her difficulties and was a wonderful mother and wife. When she could no longer work, due to her illness, she said she now had a chance to  a "lady of leisure".  Her loss is a loss to us all and my prayers are with her and her family.

I am so sorry to hear about Carie. I hope she is free and happy now. My prayers go to her family.

Some good news: I am feeling great and NED of both BC and OVCA. I am on disability so I enjoy my time home with my family. I am happy that spring is here and looking forward to some gardening.  Did you know that SSDI gives you disability only for 3 years? According with them if the sickness does not come back you are considered cured! You wish! Anyway, I am happy now and enjoy it every minute.

    xoxo

Checking in too! I have my oncologist appointment on Thursday. I'm happy to hear your good news HaveHope, and so devastated to hear about Carie.

I don't like dealing with the permanent side effects from chemo (tear ducts scarred shut so that my eyes constantly water and I can't wear makeup); and numb fingertips. But the biggest side effect is that I have my life so I can't complain too loudly!

Yes, Texas, how did the appointment go? And I love your explanation of the biggest side effect--that you (we) have our life (lives).

Hugs to all my 2008 divas.

Sorry for the delay ladies. I'm still in remission! Hooray!!! Another six months before the anxiety starts building again. Once a year, I have to get a chest x-ray and bone density test. I know it's necessary but I just hate going anywhere near an x-ray machine.

Just finished watching 50/50, anyone else has seen it? That was harsh, I haven't cried so much watching a movie in a long time. It was good, but oh my, did it bring back some feelings. One more day of school and the kids are home for the Summer. How is everyone doing?

The kids got out of school, I drove them half-way to Canada to spend the week with my parents and on the way home, whamm... started feeling sick :( I week without kids and couldn't even enjoy it! Oh well.. We're all home now, doing fine, getting ready for our 2 week trip to Prince Edward Island, got the boys to watch Anne of Green Gables so that they would have an idea of why the hype! And they liked it. One week to go and we're out of here :)

About the movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1306980/ it does have a trailer, I saw it at one of those Red Box machine.

Health wise, I'm doing fine. I had my 6 month follow-up mammo-U/S last month about the calcification, everything is stable. Still have to go back in November for my yearly mammo, but I think I'm good. Haven't had my health issue of the year yet for 2012 ;)

I hope everyone is doing ok, I too was thinking about Busqueen this week, she left so much behind.. Even though it wasn't in the best of circumstances, I'm glad she made it on that cruise with her daughter.

    Whishing everyone a fun Summer

Hi Ladies!  It's been a while since I posted but I have been thinking of you all!  Well, this year has been interesting to say the least.  (With that said, I guess I should say no BC)I started a new job in December 2011.  In April I went to the emergency room with chest pains and they found that my thyroid was over active.  To make matters worse I have Graves Disease with Graves Eye Disease.  So the only treatment option for my thyroid was thyroidectomy.  On June 1st I was laid off from my job and they cancelled my insurance on that day.  My surgery was planned for June 8th.  I had to jump through hoops to get my Cobra insurance set up.  I had the surgery and everything is well.  Now I'm just hitting it hard looking for a job.

I hope everything is going well for everyone!  Have a great summer with your friends and family.

Sonia, sounds like a harsh time, sorry to hear what you have been through but glad to hear you are pulling through.

Can I say it one more time, I HATE THIS DISEASE. We got home from vacation with a voicemail from my girlfriend to call her ASAP, I thought our summer visit wasn't going to happen, well, she was just diagnosed with BC :( She found the lump back in April but thought it wasn't going to be anything like last time and she had an appt with her OB in June so waited and even forgot about it until the dr's hand stopped on it, a week later, she had a mammo and after reading the results they walked in with a big needle to biopsy it on the spot! Then as she walked in her house, her dr called her with the results, 2 cancer tumors in one breast :( Quick diagnosis, but geez, a week prior she had a happy normal life! She is getting a mastectomy this coming Monday. Hopefully she will be well enough for our visit 9 days later, I really don't care about her being a good host, I really just want to hang out with her and chat, it would have been nice to have a best friend to talk to during that time, I'm just so sad that we live so far apart now. Argh.. she's only 37, wonderful husband and 3 beautiful children. It's tough for them, they older than mine were and they still remember me going through it, one the bright side, I'm a survivor, so I'm hoping it's giving them hope about their mama. She's been my best friend since we met 24 years ago, this is hard :(

As far as me, I enrolled in school! Going back to get an accounting degree. Scary, but it will help us get a better education for our children and save for retirement. Exciting, but scary.

    Thanks Lovemyfamily and Caroline!

Caroline-I'm so sorry about your friend!  It really makes all of your panic feelings come back.  I have to say that I had a few friends that had went through BC so they were able to prepare me for the biopsy.  They were fortunate that did not need chemo so I went into this blind.  I feel so blessed to have you all in my corner while going through chemo.  Your friend will so grateful for your experience and love.  She will definately be in my prayers.

Sonia, so sorry to hear your news. But your 08 sisters are here and feel free to check in often and to let us know what is going on.

Caroline, it stinks to hear of another young woman with bc.  Hopefully your friend will fly through treatment and be able to put this behind her.  She is lucky to have you there for her.

Sending hugs and prayers to my 08 gals.

    Mandy
