Has anyone started a forum for Chemo in Dec 2008?

I apologize for not checking back very often. I agree with the others, HaveHope, expect a long life but live for each day! I think we've probably all got a better appreciation of time, and life's little blessings, than we did prior to 2008.

For some of us, this is our 5 year anniversary. As Texas says, we all probably "have a better appreciation of time and life's little blessings. " Mandy hugs to all. Mandy

Hello Divas!
I hope all of you are well and healty for out 5 years aniversary! Mine will be on October 31.
I am happy to report that once again I am in remission from my first recurrence of ovca! I finished a long chemo treatment on 8/30 and today CT scan came out clean! The outlook is for 8-9 months of remission but it could be more.
Thank you all for your support and I wish you a nice, long fall and a clean bill of health! -
Havehope: This is indeed great news!!! May you have a long remission and many many many good years. Yes, we are all coming on 5 years now...wishing you only good things!!!
Hugs,
Mandy

Wonderful news, Havehope!!! You have been in my prayers. I got the news from my doctor on September 23, shortly after Hurricane Ike hit our area. We were without power or water for weeks. When I went for the ultrasound and biopsy, the hospital was using a backup generator. I feel so blessed to feel strong and healthy!

Hello my Divas
I hope all of you are doing well.
Today I am very happy. I had my 7 mo check after first recurrence (ovca) and I am still NED. CA125 is 10 and CT scan clean. Looking for a nice summer ( last one I spent it doing chemo).
Wish you all only NED years to come. Stay strong and have hope. Tomorrow the cure might be here.PS I saw Pope Francis in Rome for Palm Sunday. It was amazing. I am sending you all blessed hugs.
-
Havehope !
How exciting to have seen Pope Francis in Rome for Palm Sunday. You are indeed blessed to have been able to see him (and I am not even a Christian, but it is a blessing to see a holy man which Pope Francis certainly is).
I am happy that you are NED and will have a good summer. So far I am NED too and it is almost 6 years since my diagnosis.
I miss our divas here and wish you all good health and happiness for many many years to come.
Hugs

Hello my Divas,
I hope you are all well.
I had a good summer. Last month the tumor marker started to rise and yesterday it went over the 35 limit to 48 but the CT scan is clean. So my onc put me on Femara, starting next week to see if it works for me. In 8 weeks I will repeat the tumor marker and hopefully it will go down. If not I am facing another round of chemo. But I am ok. I am so busy I don't have time to think of cancer .
Hugs and kisses!
-
Havehope,
Thanks for checking in. Sorry to hear about the tumor markers being up but good that the scan showed nothing. Hoping that you have a good result with the femara.
Hugs to you and all of my divas.

HaveHope: Let's just assume that the Femara will do its job! You're a strong person and you can beat this!
Anyone else watch Stand Up 2 Cancer last night? That program always brings the fight back to me in such real terms but it also reminds me of how far we've come. Good job, divas!
-
Hey havehope
How are things going for you? Just stopping in to say hello.
And hugs to all of the 2008 divas.

Have hope, i hope all is going well! I have been thinking of you all this month. 6 years since diagnosis. I am doing well but miss the connection we all had. Others just dont understand. Love you all!

Hi swest!
Thank you for thinking of me. I am doing ok-ish. Breast Cancer still NED but the ovca is acting up again and Monday I have a meeting with my onc. I did have a much longer remission that I had expected - 12 mo vs 8 mo - which I have enjoyed very much. I am grateful that I was ok to help my daughter thru the college application process and we are done. It looks like I might start chemo soon and I hope to get another year of remission after that. Btw Femara didn't work for me.
I wish you all Happy Anniversary and stay healthy and NED!
xoxo

Have hope--those applications are out--what a sigh of relief for you and your daughter (we were more likely to finish just as the deadline rolled around). Hope your new chemo works well for you. I have a friend (never smoked) who has lung cancer with mets--she is still doing well over 10 years after the mets though she does do chemo. So hoping that you get another nice remission with your new chemo!!! And good luck to your daughter--waiting for those answers is really nerve-wracking.
Swest--good to hear from you. We were so close in those days and really did support eachother. I am facebook friends with some of the December 2008 gals....if you have an interest, private message me and I'll give you some info.
Hugs to any of the 2008 December Divas who are reading this.

Hello Divas,
Femara didn't work for me and on Nov 26 I had surgery to remove 2 tumors, one of 2 cm one of 1 cm. I had robotic surgery and they left me home the same day. I was happy that I was able to help my family cooking the turkey and be home for Thanksgiving. But the recovery has been slow. I am feeling much better today and the doctor told me that I am free of visible cancer. I still have to meet with my onc, but the plan is to start chemo on Dec 26. I am looking at 6 months of chemo, Carbo monthly with Taxol weekly 3 wks and then on week off. I hope chemo will work and have another year of remission. Plus I will be done with chemo just in time for my daughter's high school graduation.
I hope you all have a nice holiday season.
Love and peace!
-
Oh Havehope--you are one great gal! I too hope that you have a good remission with the chemo and can look forward to the high school and then the college graduation four years later. Have a wonderful holiday.
Hugs to all the 2008 Divas! Had to believe that it was 6 years ago.

Six years on October 28! You are never far from my thoughts and prayers, HaveHope.
-
This group has been here for 6 years--just a few of us check in now. But maybe some of the others will read for the holidays. I am always thankful for this group that got me through some pretty hard times.
Wishing all of the December 2008 divas a holiday season of health, happiness and serenity.
Many hugs,
Mandy
