Seven years are such a blessing! I don't check back often enough but I do care how all of you are doing. I'm still dealing with chemo brain. Not sure if it's from the chemo at this point or the Femara. Seven years of no estrogen is no doubt taking its toll. I'm still determined to live a healthy lifestyle and it seems to be working. I feel better than ever.

HI All! I don't know if any of you are still reading this, but i did want to check in and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. I am doing fine some 8 years out==wow, 8 years! My older daughter is a journalist and my younger daughter is a second year medical student---time does fly. Take care and I'll check back in for Christmas. hugs! Mandy1313

Hello ladies,

I am still here. Going thru chemo for the 3rd recurrence on ovarian cancer. I am having horrible skin rashes due to Doxil, but I am staying strong hoping for another remission.

Hi sweet sisters! Long time indeed! Have hope, I am so sorry that you are going through a recurrence. I will say a prayer for you! I just had double mastectomy with immediate DIEP reconstruction and am very happy with the results. Blessings to all my sisters!

Hey everyone it's horsercn....I started this forum back in 2008. Happy to say I have been CANCER free since chemo and radiation. Always keep a positive attitude and ask for help when you need it. I think asking for help was hard for me. I was so used to doing it on my own. To beat this you need all the help and prayers that come your way. Hello everybody!

This month I celebrate 10 years since Dx. I hope all of you are well and healthy.

Happy to report that I am in remission from ovca, since March 2017 and feeling great. Life is good!

Hi all my divas!

It is ten years since we showed up on this forum to support eachother. We have lost some divas but others of us are doing well--so I want to take a minute to remember busqueen and some of the others who are no longer with us. But I also want to send my hugs and good wishes for a new year of health, happiness and serenity to those of us who are lucky enough to be celebrating.

Through this experience, I learned how to live one day at a time and in the moment. Feeling good! But I just realized that 10 years ... and I have bilateral silicone implants ... wondering if I need to have them checked for leakage. I'm going to contact my plastic surgeon's office today.

Well, here's something interesting ... I just learned yesterday that for my form of BC (ILC), they no longer recommend chemo because they say it does no good. At the time, it was the standard treatment. But the news is unsettling because I have a list of permanent side effects, including tear ducts permanently scarred shut from taxotere. For 10 years, I've told myself that the side effects were worth the benefits.

On top of all that ... the doctor said unlike IDC, ILC is more likely to recur years later. I'm not as protected as I thought I was, especially since the current thought is that Femara is the best treatment and I had to stop that 3 years earlier than recommended because of side effects.

I saw your post and want to answer but I am on my way to New Zealand--a long long trip--believe it or not, I am meeting up with two bc.org friends who live there. I will write more when I have more time but I want to say that not every study applies to each one of us---so do not fret and they a re always changing what they think is the perfect treatment. You and i have made it for over 10 years---at the time of diagnosis, I would have thought that to be a miracle. I count each day as a gift and try not to worry about the what ifs---yes we both probably had more chemo than we should ahve--but we will never know and we also will never know if we are those people for whom the chemo was a gift and saved us.

Hi! It's me, havehope. Still here and doing great. According with the studies I was supposed to be dead long time ago from ovarian cancer. Here are I am, 7 years later, 3 surgeries, 4 sets of chemo, and in remission for the last 25 months with a high chance of still being in remission for the next 6 months.

Sorry for the side effects you have to deal with, but you can't change what it is done. If you are scared of recurrence to the point that you need piece of mind, do a double mastectomy. That's what I did 10 years ago, one prophylactic, and I don't regret it one bit.

Don't think too much of "what if". You'll deal with it if it will be necessary. Until then, take care and enjoy life.

Thank you both for your replies. Mandy, of course you're right that we'll never know if the chemo helped. Plus, it's in the past. Havehope: I did the prophylactic immediately after finishing chemo and radiation. Most days, I don't think of it but it always takes me a bit to absorb new information.
