Re: that other thread - I wasn't offended for myself but for the many women who are regular posters on that forum --and I felt angry thinking about the many, many inompetent mental health workers out there who voice opinions with no scientific basis. Armchair diagnoses of any kind will make me crabby - as will medical advice delivered over the internet. I'm an egghead. It offends my sense of intellectual honesty.  

Lionesses do not get easily offended because of our own persons - when we do, we simply rub heads with pridemates and cubs.

I have an axis I disorder anyway....we people are supposed to be too crazy to carry on any conversation....it's the Axis II people who I think were more at issue.

That reminds me of when my sister had a baby and she called me and all she kept saying was "I am a mom!  Me!  Can you believe it?"  It was so cute.

Ang - I feel quite excited for her. Sounds like she did a good job through the labour - better than me - I screamed the place down when I was having her. Other mpothers sadi they were glad they had already had their babies because I would have put them off The second kid was better - epidural - love it.

I rushed out bought boy baby clothes - will have to post them on Monday. She has stuff friends have given her but I wanted her to have some new things. We did pay for the modern cloth nappies to the tune of $475 for 24!!! Can't figure out what's wrong with the old fashioned towelling ones.

Just asked SIL for a photo and he's going 'we'll have to post one' and I'm going 'EMAIL!!!' (idiot)

BTW - he was 7lbs - my bad just used the old 2.2lbs = 1kg. Used an internet calculator and it's 7.01lbs.



Hey girls - wish me luck - going to see the great granny tomorrow - something I avoid mostly, but it's Mother's Day here next weekend and seeing we have a 3 day weekend here and Steve is golfing tomorrow - might as well go and see my mother - long long overdue. It's only a 50 minute drive but I dread it - not so much the road but her negativity.



Markets tomorrow am - seeing Steve is leaving at 5am, I can do my market thing and then drive to the Gold Coast.

Thank you mods. I will miss her but she will live on in all her friends.

My kids use those fancy new diaoers(nappies) and I can't figure out why they are sooo expensive. They even hand them down to other moms. We just used our old ones for rags but then they did not cost so much or come in different sizes.Edited because they come in different sizes not sixes and yes I know there are more typos but a gal can only do so much.

Rosemary I am so very sorry for the loss of your friend. I am praying for her, her family and you.

Some nappies were $35 each!!!! You can still get the old fashioned ones for $20 a dozen and I did send her videos on how to fold them (like the one above) and you can still buy fasteners but I didn't see much in the way of pilchers to cover them but I only went to a Walmart type store. We had to buy them something, so that was an easy one as I paid for them through direct money transfer. Friends gave them lots of baby furniture but they don't have a basinette, they're going to put him in the cot - can't quite believe that one.

Still no pic - SIL is quite hopeless as you already know from last Christmas.

Dreading going to see my mother today - called her last night to tell her I was coming and she is SO difficult I doubt I'll be there long.

The diapers come sized and shaped to fit the little one's bum and some of them have snaps to fit them into the diaper cover. My daughters absolutely will not use pins on diapers. The little princess might get poked. Even after I told hem how to put their finger between the pin and the baby, no pins for them.There are very strange looking diaper fasteners now. Boy do I sound old.

Rosemary - they are one size fits all, so that's good and she did get some that snap in. You can get plastic fasteners these days to use instead of pins.

Lassie - it is great that my mother has great grandchildren, but sad she will proably never hold them. It looks like my son will never come back from England - they can't afford to visit on holiday.

SIL said they are NOT facebooking the baby which I totally agree with. I'll call later today to see how they're going and remind him. He probably doesn't know how to attach a jpeg file to an email and he also probably doesn't know my email addy.

Got to the markets nice and early and got some gorgeous bananas and lots of fish and of course my usual choc fudge. The fudge lady sells spices and she had this spice I'd been trying to buy - ras el hanout - need it to try a beef tagine seeing I don't use my expensive tagine dish. Looks like Steve will finally get his wish. I do a fish tagine dish but the fish guy hasn't had the thick fish steaks I need for ages, so the pan sits there looking lonely.
