Apparently it didn't violate the rules - I'm quite shocked.

So i am interested to see this about cholesterol and blood sugar levels being an se of arimifex, got told last week i can stop taking it, lungs are clear and its been 5 years. Good news! But my doc has been wanting me to go on cholesterol meds, wonder if this will help, how soon would it make a difference?

Esserbre - the AI SE thread in Hormonal Forum has good information.  My docs swear the high sugar is NOT an SE of Arimidex.  BUT, there has been a great deal published recently about how STATINS ( main med for treating high cholesterol) CAN push some into diabetes!!!  And, as we KNOW high cholesterol IS a KNOWN SE of all the AI's - I can hear that voice saying:  "Are we having fun yet."

SUSIEQ - you gotta stop trying to "help" people who can not hear anything but what they already know.  And I really KNOW, understand how hard it is to watch others suffer, when you have had an experience you think might be of benefit to them.  That's just the way it is.  LET GO.  Really. Please stop hurting yourself in the process.  I have a cousin who was on the early clinical trials for Herceptin years ago - she's still with us...happy...and THANKFUL.

Was hot here yesterday ... cooled down today so you east coasters may be getting a cool down tomorrow. 

It's been very windy.  Looked out yesterday morning and the patio table umbrella was gone.  My first thought was who the h*ll steals just an umbrella.  It was on the roof ... no damage to anything but definitely a WTF moment.  (Note to self ... putting the umbrella down is not enough ... tie it also.)  Then it did a Mary Poppins thing on hubby when he was trying to put it back in place.  I would have waited to put it back when the wind was not howling but I'm not a guy so ...

Was anybody here in the path of that awful tornado outbreak?  Scary stuff!

Waving at Bren ... glad you survived your close encounter with that big snake.  Obviously Tank will not be much help on the snake patrol front.  Our dogs when I was growing up thought those big black snakes were toys and would grab them and throw them around playing with them. 

Susie ... you can lead a horse to water but then sometimes you need to back away to protect yourself.  I agree that 'support' is sometimes really 'enabling'  ... so I can't honestly pretend it's all fine either.  Walking away is sometimes the best you can do. 

Speaking of horses ... Sampson and Scoot has a very nice ring to it!  All digits crossed that all goes well and you will be galloping through the fields and leaping over tall buildings in a single bound soon!

What is it with water heaters this month?! Mine didn't leak - it just quit heating properly. Turns out there is a gizmo on top called a mixer. While the heater actually was heating, the mixer was putting too much cold water with it so that I was having lukewarm showers. And the valve to shut off just the hot water heater water was so old it wouldn't turn so the guy had to turn off all the water in the house while my little granddaughter was here and replace the valve later. All fixed now. The next day the mechanic figured out the squeak my car had been making for months - dirty brakes. Now everything is fixed except for the hit on my bank account.  Til the next thing goes.

Hi Rabbit ... we were writing at the same time.  I'm fit to be tied over this latest development.  My homeowner's policy doesn't cover broken water heaters.  And we've got a $500 deductible to clean the mess up.

Tank is useless with snakes.  He doesn't even see them for some reason.  Tim wants me to carry a golf club with me when I walk the dogs .. I guess so I can club the snakes.  That's not going to happen!  Then he told me that the black snakes will chase you down!  Wow .. I really needed that bit of information!

Other than my water problems, it's a beautiful day here!

We replaced our water heater a couple weeks ago. DH went to empty the litterbox and there was a little trickle of water on the floor. So we rushed out to Lowe's, bought a new one and installed it a couple days later (DH is handy). Apparently the Water Heater Union has decided to call a strike!



Funny thing was we arranged a large object pickup by the county for the old, dead water heater. We put it out by the curb and went to dinner ... And it was gone when we came back! Apparently there is a good amount of scrap metal in one. Interesting!

Sorry for all the water heater troubles.  Ours hasn't been replaced since we moved here either so that will probably be our next 'surprise' too.   

Bren ... hopefully the clean up part won't be too bad.  Have you got a shop vac to suck up the water?    That and a couple of big fans in the basement might dry it out?    

Libby ... we can almost always put big stuff out by the road early on the night before trash day and it disappears.  We're gotten rid of old printers and an old tiller and a weedeater and an old set of golf clubs, etc. that way over the years.  There are people who patrol areas around trash day looking for items like that ... they fix and re-sell them.  One of my daughter's friends had an older relative who made his living that way.  Win-win

Well .. the plumber just left.  I'm sick of having to deal with Tim (also known as Mr. ADD) on the phone, he's driving me crazy.

We don't have enough freakin' cash to pay the guy, so tonight when he gets home we have to go to Lowes and charge a new hot water heater.  After looking at the one in the basement, I don't know why Mr. ADD can't install it himself.  It looks pretty straightforward to me.

Anyway ... the plumber will be back tomorrow a.m. to install the new water heater.

Rabbit .. We don't have a shop vac.  I do have a fan I can set up down there.  At any rate, I did get the water to the house turned back on as the plumber shut it off at the water heater.  Mr. ADD can figure out what to do with the basement mess tomorrow.  Thankfully, 99% of the stuff down there was in plastic bins and stayed dry.

I'm thinking about taking the dogs for a hike, but I swear I am not in the mood for any more damn snakes!

Hey girls - sounds like you all need solar hot water - ours is on the roof and costs me virtually nothing for hot water - I think $25 a quarter. We have had to replace the tank and solar panels over the last 30 years, but only once. I got a stainless steel tank last time so I hope it lasts forever. The other benefit is no leaks in the basement - not that we have a basement.

That other thread - well I can't stand to see someone trying to do away with themselves by not even having surgery, but I hear you and am out of there.

Steve away - couldn't sleep well - always happens when he's not here. For some reason I get nervous even though the house is locked up tight. You would think I'd luxuriate in having the whole bed to myself.

Bren, you live in the country, yes? No city utilities (i.e.,no gas line?). If Tim is handy with electrical stuff and it is an electric hot water heater, he might be able to figure it out. HOWEVER, he might have to pull a permit at the county to do it so they can inspect it after it is done. It will make it easier to sell your house when the time comes. We pulled a permit with no problem as homeowners and after DH installed it, the inspector came and passed it no problem. It was gas, but DH can work on that and knows how to do it. Electric is easier.



Good luck! BTW, if you are planning on living there for a while, I would get the Whirlpool water heater. That's what we got.
