Any February 2012 radiation gals out there?

I finished on Friday 3/30!!! Had a fun celebratory weekend but am feeling the fatique this week. Other than that and my under arm soreness I am finished!!! yea!! Continued healing to all of you!   

Hallalujha, I am done!!!!!!!!! The techs gave me a certificate and a shower of confetti, I whooped so loud that the doctor and nurses came running! I had to do a happy dance and hug them all!!!! They said that was the best reaction they had ever had, I was really? Isn't everyone thrilled to be done?The certificate says for completing her course with high honors and good spirits, they left off the part about crankiness and poor spirits. LOL

Of course then I coughed in the changing area for about 10 mins. but it was so worth it! Next on my plate is figuring out the lung issue then onto Arimidex. But for now a celebratory nap!!

Congrats to mlm and macatac!!! So glad everyone is done or so close! 

I'm 2.5 wks post rads and continuing to heal up very nicely.  Skin is just lightly tan in some places, in others, almost back to normal color.  doing well in terms of rads recovery.  Starting chemo next week.

Had my checkup/follow up appt. with my RO today. I brought cupcakes from Frosted Cupcakery for the whole crew. They were stoked. Made me feel good.

My RO said I am healing nicely. Only one small spot left to peel. The peeling made my incision scars look so much nicer! Almost like a laser-peel. I can barely see the mastectomy scar now although it was small to begin with...it is around half of my areola and about one half inch straight down. Can barely see the half inch down part as well as sections around the areola. Yeah!

He also told me, after looking at my latest PET/CT, blood work, tumor markers and CTC test that I am now officially NED!

Keeping my fingers crossed for a loooooooong term relationship with NED.

hi everyone, I can now join the group of finishing rads. Friday was my 28th and final! Congrats to all of us that finished I had 2 long delays through mine, one for 5 days due to stitches not dissolving where the snb was done so the BS had to lance me open to remove them. And the 2nd was 10 days due to being so burnt in the snb area. But it's done now!!!

My lumpectomy scar looks so much better, too.  Much less noticeable than before rads.  I am almost 3 weeks out from my final tx and am amazed at how quickly I have healed -- from looking like chopped meat to just slightly pink in a short time!  No tenderness either.  Hurray for all of us who are done!

macatacmv--i hope you get to feeling better quickly so you can enjoy your vacation without that cough!

I have been with the same company for 23 years so when I came back after being off work for 3.5 months I still had almost 3 weeks of vacation left to take before the end of May. My boss was not happy but since our VP doesn't allow ANY vacation rollover to the next fiscal year he had to suck it up and let me off. We are heading to New Orleans next week to celebrate the grandbaby's 2nd birthday (I have two older stepdaughters to go along with my 20 year old).

Hi All, Glad to see you all still here on this discussion board. Dancetracer, the decadron gave me an "ants in the pants" feeling ... I thought I was crazy until the nurse said it was normal.   I am so glad you have all healed. I am peelilng in my last spot which is the lumpectomy scar. I'm still using sulfadine cream but I am only 1/ 1/2 weeks out so expect to be healed shortly. Anyone else having a lot of fatique? It seems I am fine for a few days and then it catches up so I have to take time to sleep.  Macatacmv....you are almost done!!!! 

Hello fellow rad gals,

I am 9 days out. Still have moments when all I can do is sit on the couch. I am very shaky on the prednisone. I also have times when I am very sad. But I am going to OT and walking the dog once a day and trying to get back to "normal" activities.The stretching exercises are working wonders on my range of motion now to strengthen the muscles. My job is very physical and it will take some time to get the stamina back.

Sherry have a great time on your trip. Grandbabies sound like so much fun. They are still in my future. Family is what life is all about.

This recovery business just takes longer than I thought it would. I  am starting to have more optimism about my trip. Heck I get excited just taking the dog for a walk and feeling the sun on my face.

dance--i got my chemo at a cancer center. the chemo room had little tackle boxes marked 'anaphylaxis' all over the room. they just grabbed one, gave me a shot (i never asked of what, but assumed epinephrine) stopped the chemo, hooked up my flush bag, put me on oxygen and then waited. after about 30 minutes of taking my bp and pulse they hooked me back to the chemo but just did it really sloooow. The worst part was that i scared my poor daughter badly. My mother had been going with me to chemo from the beginning, but she had a conflict that day and since my baby was in town she went with me instead. She said my face/neck/chest were blood red and she could tell i was unable to breath.

The next time i went they just did the infusion really slowly. I took dex at home and then got it and benadryl as a premed. I read that it is not the Taxol that causes the reaction, but what they add to it to make it water soluable. 

I am also sorry for the thread derail.  

I have 17 more RT's left, the last 5 being boosts.  Can someone who's gone through the boost part tell me how it's different?  I know they zero in on the actual spot, but how is it different from the treatments I've been getting?

sherrybaby--Thanks so much.  Yes, that's the info I needed.  I do great as long as I know what to expect.  Just ready for this all to be over.
