Any February 2012 radiation gals out there?

That's what boosts were like for me. The first day there is new measuring and marking. Then close and quick. I got sore on that incision scar, but it went away fast after it was all over.

DanceTracer - hang in there... if they premedicate with Benedryl and dex and watch you will be ok... it's scarry to think about it.... I asked my Mother to read all the adverse effects and not to tell me unless I experienced anything or until it was over
. Maybe that's being chicken, but those adverts for side effects are just crazy. Sherrybaby.. your reaction had to be scarry! Thank you for the feedback on being tired. I'm getting better by the week but seem to still need to sleep in a bit in the morning. I too am tired by the end of the week and am walking the dog or trying to walk each day. It's a beautiful day here in NJ....hope you all have a wonderful, restful weekend!

It has been a long while since I have posted on this site. Because we have moved temporarily for my radiation treatments, I have been out of touch but we are home for a long weekend as the cancer care place is closed this Monday. I have completed 25 treatments now with 8 more to go. This past week was the smaller field where the tumor was. I will have 3 more of those then back to full breast radiation. Up until yesterday, I was not sore in the slightest, just a little itchy but not even bad with that regard. But after yesterday's treatment I noticed I was getting sorer under my armpit and last night was just a bit uncomfortable but certainly tolerable. I have put my ointment on that was recommended and it feels okay now. Fortunately, I will have 3 days to recover and am hoping I can get through these last 8 without delay.
Next week will be a bone density scan to see if I will need any treatment there as the hormone blocking medicine can rob the bones. So every day I am closer to getting through this. I don't know if it will ever actually be over but I am told the odds are on my side. All in all, I am feeling well and have been very fortunate throughout chemo and radiation. Keep up the fight all.

Allagash, good to hear from you. The long weekend is a blessing. Glad you are making it through.
I got done almost 2 weeks ago now. My skin is getting so much better, I am getting some OT and have to do streching and strengthening exercises everyday. I still hit a fatigue wall at around 2 in the afternoon and have to take a nap. But the weather has been so nice and I have been able to walk in the woods and on the beach and just feel the sun on my face and experience joy.

Good morning macatacmv,
Congratulations to you for successfully completing radiation. Ahhhhh.....what a nice feeling it must be. Did you need chemo prior to radiation? Hope not. I did do chemo because my onco-type test score was in the "unsure" category so it was my call and I opted to go with it. When I started radiation last month they told me fatigue is a side effect because, like chemo, radiation damages the good cells too and the body is working hard to repair the good cells, thus the fatigue. I am doing pretty well with that and am trying to walk every day. I'm usually in bed by 9:00 p.m . even before all of this anyway but I may go a littler earlier these days. It is so good to hear from those of you who have gotten through this and say that your skin is doing much better. Take good care and you can bet when I am done and living back home full time, I will be posting a BIG HOORAY!

Allagashmaggie--glad to hear you are getting finished soon. I hope those last 8 treatments go by in a flash and that you enjoy the rest of your weekend break.

Hello, I am not sure if this forum is even active now. Maybe there is a more current one on radiation.
But I want to announce that as of yesterday at 10:30 a.m. I am done with radiation. I met with my medical oncologist first and then had my 33rd and last treatment. Halleleuha!! Now it is onto hormone blocking therapy and checkups every 3 months. For the most part I handled radiation well, getting quite sore toward the end under my armpit but they gave me Xclair cream to put on it and that knocked it down almost overnight. Now I have no pain at all and my boob looks tanned. My hair is starting to come back so I have shed headwear and it looks like I will be salt and pepper. This is still an ongoing process but right now, I am most anxious to get back to a normal routine. I would have to say the hardest part for me on radiation was being displaced from my home. We are back now, unpacked and so glad to be in our own nest again.
Hope everyone else is fairing well. There are not any new posts here so I wonder if you are all onto another forum or just so glad not to have anything to report on anymore. Best to you all,

Allagashmaggie - huge congratulations on being done!!!!!!
I'm on the forums for chemo as that is my path right now. My skin is doing great from rads, almost 100% back to normal. so no complaints!

Congrats from me too Allagashmaggie! I'm with Dance over in the chemo forums as well, just had tx #3 yesterday. So glad you are back home and done with rads! I have 3 more tx's to go, will be done with it all by the end of June. Looking forward to a tx free summer! Congrats again!

Congrats Allagashmaggie!! So glad you made it.
Had my one month follow up with the RO today and he said everything looked really good. Don't see my MO until June so I am doctor free for over a month!! So exciting.
I hope everyone is doing well.

Allagash, YAY!!!!!!!! What a great feeling to not have to submit to that treatment everyday!!!!!! I am so glad you are back home! It is spring, time for rebirth! Be sure to rest well, take your time, and drink lots and lots of water. I am jumping around on the bco board. There is a rad recovery group, they are further along than we are, but a great group of ladies. I also am joining in some threads about going on with life and living well. Come find me!

Congrats to all of us that have finished!!
Anyone else still exhaused over 2 weeks out of finishing? I actually started to feel less tired a few days after I finished, but the last week or so, I'm insanely exhausted, like my eyes are dropping in the middle of the day. I also got pretty naseaus last night, I used to get that way once a week or so during rads.
I want to thank you all, I didn't get a lot of time to post often, but read most of the posts and tried to keep up
you all helped me get through this journey and I am gracious for that!
Hugs and love to you all!

rabbit, I had rads fatigue for at least 3 weeks, when my chest would just get so heavy I would have to lay down. Then sometimes it would be my cheeks would get "heavy". I still, almost 4 weeks out, want to nap every afternoon. Dr keeps telling me that my body is fighting it's way back to health so just give myself a break. We want to get through this, but it takes time. I am still not "myself" but I am my new self, who just wants to appreciate all that I have in my life today! It is getting better. I too am grateful for all the wonderful women who inspire me on these threads everyday.
(((hugs)))

In case anyone of us February gals are still watching this thread I just wanted to drop in with a quick 'hello'. It is still hard for me to believe it has been (almost) two years since I finished rads. I hope 2014 finds everyone well. ((hugs)) to all!

Hi Sherrybaby! It's gone by so fast for me. Doing well, hope everyone else is!
