I apologize for being so long-winded.  I've had the flu all week and there's nobody to talk to except Mr. otter, who's also had the flu.  I don't know what that has to do with writing long posts, but it's the only excuse I can come up with.  Hugs to all...

Hi Friends,

I just got off the phone with Blue. She sends her love to everyone! She's having some side effects from the Parkinson's medication, but doing better overall. She said she'll be back soon.

She also wanted to thank Mary for the card.

Blue said Virgil is on steroids for his honking.  And it's apparently helping him.  Do you guys remember how he honked at Niagara Falls?  He was so funny.  And he's two pounds overweight, so he is very unhappily on a diet now.

PS .. Otter .. my dogwoods are barely budding.  They won't be in their full glory until next month.

I miss my old flip phone. Talking through the flat smartphone feels uncomfortable.

If they could have:

Flip smartphones with normal keyboards and technology with the ability to distinguish between one's finger and one's ear, purse or any other body part it would be an improvement.

But mostly, I miss Users Manuals - where did those go? Since when is having a full set of instructions obsolete?? Has any of you noticed how hard it is to get hold of User's Manuals for digital technology? You have to search for them through the web and they usually come in complicated Adobe forms. I miss paging through instructions books. I have many questions about my Android phone - including why privacy settings are so rudimentary.

The smartphone is a convenience - and great if you are like the otter family - travelling on the road a lot. But given the choice I prefer a good old desktop and landline phone any time of the day.

Off to read my paper book, which I can bend and hold as I please. :-)

There is an app for that!   A friend of mine who hates cell phones and still has a rotary dial phone said he wanted rotary dial on a cell phone. So I searched the apps and found one. You really can dial it on the screen just like a rotary dial phone. My friend still won't have a cell phone.

Oh golly, I may just have to download that!

Hi all, stopping by to say hi and to let everyone know I am feeling somewhat better and am at my conference now. That lifted my spirits becasue now I can network and hopefully, find another job So glad Blue is fgeeling better. Bren I am so jealous! I LOVE 2 Cellos.

Good Morning Friends!

It's the first day of spring ... I'm so happy!  I've finished my work for the day and may spend some time getting the flower beds ready.

Sunflowers .. my birds are coming back too, and nesting in the same places.  It's so much fun to watch them get ready for their babies.

I hope everyone enjoys the day .. and Mary that the sun comes out for you.

sorry Athena but Mary does not have the authority to change weather with you.  

After growing up in that wretched swamp, I left DC for a reason and have no intention of returning to that miserable excuse for a climate. You will simply have to move here.  Right now its sunny and windy with lots of electric green popping out and lots of plum blossums--perfectly lovely in my humble opinion.

Hey Mary I can give you a warm virtual hug, will that help?

Mary no problem. My DH is getting dragged down by the endless weather too.  That kind of worries me because I love Seattle and really don't want to have to move (well unless we win the lottery and can more to Paris!).  I think a lot of his problem is the completely thankless dealing with my mother which is now piling on top of the weather.  And his friend that he helped through chemo the last two summers is no longer in remission (stupid cancer adjusted to the chemo) so is facing more chemo.  DH says dealing my crazy mother is okay and that he doesn't mind but after nearly 12 years of marriage, I know that if he has to spend too much time with people (and being talked "at") he burns out and gets grumpy.  End result:  he is "dealing" with her but not dealing with us so well.
