Baby it's cold outside

Spring is in the air......It's still winter Even if it never really showed up.
I saw a moth a few nights ago on my outdoor lighting, and the insects are starting to show thier ugly heads. My friend saw a 'flock' of robins in her yard. UNheard of in february. A winter to remember.
-
I have had glads, hyacinths and daffodils blooming for a couple weeks. My poppies haven't stopped blooming this whole year! They don't know what month it is.
-
The snow is almost all melted already. This is the first winter I can remember not having to shovel the driveway even once.
-
We need the rain and snow to get our water storage up. I am afraid they will ration water this summer if we don't get more.
-
Well, it did not get close to the temp they originally called for today but we managed to get in the 40s. Chilly this weekend and then upper fifties by Tuesday. We'll see.
-
Well, my hibiscus (that I moved inside in October) is blooming!!
-
23 out, burrrrr, what happened? hope my flowers are ok
-
17.4 degrees, and not supposed to get much warmer today. A few days ago it was in the 40's and raining. Good grief.
-
Yesterday we had 1) wind, 2) snow, 3) sleet, 4)rain, 5)sun. All we had to if we didn't like what was going on weatherwise was wait 30 minutes and it would change to something different. Fortunately the temps were warm enough that the snow didn't stick on the ground.

Sheila, our town is on a peninsula that is about 2 or 2 1/2 miles wide by about 6 miles long. It seems like at least a quarter of the time if you don't like the weather just go for a short drive, you are sure to find some thing you like. At least a dozen times in the 22 years we have lived in this house we have been able to look out the windows at the front of the house at pouring rain and go out the the back to sunshine!
-
Beautiful, sunny day in Mid Michigan. Our current temp is 60 degrees with sunshine! You East Coast Gals will hopefully have this beautiful weather tomorrow or Friday!
-
Today is cloudy with temps in the mid 60's feels good after the low in the 30's last night. Predicting to stay in the mid to upper 60's all week.

The winter that wasn't, it is March and it is 62 in WNY. That just never happens, almost waiting for a huge snowsorm to appear, but I'll take this instead.
-
March 8 and '68' and sunny today in the NY metro area. Time to tune-up the lawn mower...eeek
-
52 degrees already! SPRING has SPRUNG!~
-
54 degrees here. My crocus bloomed about 3 weeks ago, the daffodils started blooming last week, the grape hyacinth are blooming now as well as the creeping phlox. They are however calling for showers tomorrow.
Chef, I don't mow my grass I pay to get it mowed
.
-
Mowing my lawn is exhausting................GREAT excersize............I do not enjoy it, but I'm a couch potato otherwise.
-
My Muscari are in full bloom. I definitely didn't get any tulips this year. Poor things.
On Wednesday the temps were barely in the 50s and today it is expected that we get to 80! It went down by 20 degrees between Tuesday and Wednesday. More weatehr that makes it hard to dress for the day. Geeze!
-
70s today! Spring fever hitting hard-do NOT want to be at work!
-
I don't have a window in my office so when I go in in the morning it's cold and when I go out for lunch it is usually bright and sunny. Makes me not want to return from lunch.
-
I get plenty of the yellow dust on my car every spring, especially when the pine trees are pollenating. and yes it is pollen.
Today we got in the upper 50's but expecting low 70's by middle of the week and possible 80 by Saturday. Tomorrow I am getting my driveway worked on, grading out the rough spots and putting in new gravel. He said he could do it tomorrow since there is low chance of rain tomorrow. The last time I had any gravel delivered was Feb 2003, the driveway was overall smooth so we didn't need it leveled off before and we just had the gravel delivered. this guy who is doing the work this time will smooth out the humps and bumps and after bringing the gravel will level everything out and pack it down.

For some time I've been trying to think of some way to check on cyber sisters who just disappear from these forums. Sometimes it is just that they have been busy elsewhere, but no one knew how to reach them. I'm active on over a dozen topics and I've noticed that several of my sisters frequent some of the same topics. I figure that it would take only 3 or 4 of those women willing to keep my phone number and call to see if I'm OK should I disappear for an extended time and I would be happy to do the same for them. If we start a movement to do that we would have few if any instances like the current one in The Fuzzy Room, where we are left wondering and worrying about someone we care for with no way of finding out. This way personal information would not need to be published but someone could always check.
Just send a private message to someone to talk to frequently, maybe feel a connection with and talk to them about the idea, see if they want to exchange information. Chabba

Dear chabba, I am on another thread with about 8 consistent women. We lost a beloved member to bc meta sis less than a month ago, while she was ill we put together a phone tree so we could communicate quickly. This way we could get in touch quickly and not rely solely on posting. It is a good idea forced on us by a capricious beast of a disease.
-
karen, sorry about your friend. The phone tree is a very good idea but so often a sister just disappears. My concern is the cases where someone just disappears and no one knows why, not here and not on facebook if they post there. Sometimes it is just because someone just got busy with other things and comes back in a month or two and is surprised to find people stressed with worry because she thought she had let us know. Tragically, it can be someone who was doing well and gets taken by a sudden complication and we never know that she is really gone. That is part of why I got involved with this idea. I doubt very much that I will die of cancer. I have COPD and am prone to getting pneumonia. I could very easily get taken to the hospital with it and never come home. My DH dosen't know enough about computers to turn one on much less get in touch with any one. The buddy list is the only way any one here would know.
-
I think that you have a great idea, Chabba. A woman in a club I am president of had disappeared since Christmastime. When I saw her last month she said she'd been in the hospital with pneumonia but has no family nearby, so there was nobody to check on her and to let me know. Now I know that when I don't see her, I call er.
-
Nancy, yep the pollen is here.
I live close to the almond orchards and it loks like it has been snowing. The trees had been in bloom and now they are shedding their blossoms.
I went to a bridal shower yesterday and the hostess has cats, dogs and birds in her house. Although they were all outdoors during the shower, I had a wonderful allergy attack. I woke up this morning with a headache and stuffy nose.
-
Hi - we're under our first tornado watch of the year. Looks like we're going to get some fast moving bad storms in the next hour. Welcome spring. I have my door open, it's about 62 degrees. Spring has sprung and I really hope we don't get a late winter snow storm!
-
Thanks Nancy. I hate feeling so helpless when one of our sisters here disappears and NO ONE knows where or how they are. If no one has any contact information there is no way of finding out either.
-
No tornados in my area last night, the one that did touch down an hour from my house didn't hurt anyone.
Supposed to have a long string of 70+ degree days. I LOVE IT.
I agree Chabba - I really appreciated when Meece checked on me a couple of weeks ago - I'd been so busy I was off the boards for quite a while.
-
Hopefully when people check on missing isters they will let the rest of us know so we don't stress out worrying about them.
