Baby it's cold outside

Well, my hibiscus (that I moved inside in October) is blooming!!

17.4 degrees, and not supposed to get much warmer today.   A few days ago it was in the 40's and raining.  Good grief. 

Sheila, our town is on a peninsula that is about 2 or 2 1/2 miles wide by about 6 miles long.  It seems like at least a quarter of the time if you don't like the weather just go for a short drive, you are sure to find some thing you like.  At least a dozen times in the 22 years we have lived in this house we have been able to look out the windows at the front of the house at pouring rain and go out the the back to sunshine!

Today is cloudy with temps in the mid 60's feels good after the low in the 30's last night. Predicting to stay in the mid to upper 60's all week.

54 degrees here. My crocus bloomed about 3 weeks ago, the daffodils started blooming last week, the grape hyacinth are blooming now as well as the creeping phlox. They are however calling for showers tomorrow.

Chef, I don't mow my grass I pay to get it mowed . 

For some time I've been trying to think of some way to check on cyber sisters who just disappear from these forums.  Sometimes it is just that they have been busy elsewhere, but no one knew how to reach them.  I'm active on over a dozen topics and I've noticed that several of my sisters frequent some of the same topics.  I figure that it would take only 3 or 4 of those women willing to keep my phone number and call to see if I'm OK should I disappear for an extended time and I would be happy to do the same for them.  If we start a movement to do that we would have few if any instances like the current one in The Fuzzy Room, where we are left wondering and worrying about someone we care for with no way of finding out.  This way personal information would not need to be published but someone could always check.

Just send a private message to someone to talk to frequently, maybe feel a connection with and talk to them about the idea, see if they want to exchange information.   Chabba

karen,sorry about your friend.  The phone tree is a very good idea but so often a sister just disappears.  My concern is the cases where someone just disappears and no one knows why, not here and not on facebook if they post there.  Sometimes it is just because someone just got busy with other things and comes back in a month or two and is surprised to find people stressed with worry because she thought she had let us know.  Tragically, it can be someone who was doing well and gets taken by a sudden complication and we never know that she is really gone.  That is part of why I got involved with this idea.  I doubt very much that I will die of cancer.  I have COPD and am prone to getting pneumonia.  I could very easily get taken to the hospital with it and never come home.  My DH dosen't know enough about computers to turn one on much less get in touch with any one.  The buddy list is the only way any one here would know.

Thanks Nancy.  I hate feeling so helpless when one of our sisters here disappears and NO ONE knows where or how they are.  If no one has any contact information there is no way of finding out either.

Hopefully when people check on missing isters they will let the rest of us know so we don't stress out worrying about them.
