Looking forward to sharing "time in the chair" with several of you on Thursday!
What I'm REALLY looking forward to is the statement "back when I was doing chemo. . . " Stay healthy, ladies!
-
No Rachel I have 2 more TCH then the year of Herceptin. Glad you are feeling better.
-
Oh, sorry - I forgot which of the cocktails are only 4. Thanks. It's nice to feel human again.
-
Hi ladies, I know there are several of us going for tx tomorrow, I will be thinking of you.
Ok the fun just never stops. Has anyone else had a miserable rash?
I've had an angry itchy rash on my upper back/ shoulders for several weeks, now it's moved to my arms, knees ands hands. My hands are more swollen and the onc is worried some of this is a reaction to the antibiotics and wants me to stop them.
AC really has been something.
Peaceful night to all, Laura -
Laura - I get hives the week before treatment. It's weird. I mentioned it to my MO and she didn't seem concerned at all. I get them on my torso, my arms, my legs, my butt! They only last a short time and then pop up somewhere else....but only during my last week of my cycle. I am on TCH so it's a totally different thing but it just goes to show that I think we can even get SE's they don't know about! Hope your rash clears up.....hugs
-
Good luck to everyone tomorrow! For hives I suggest Eucerin Calming Creme.
-
Good luck and thoughts to all of you going for your treatments tomorrow. Will be thinking of all of you.
-
Going to the chair tomorrow! I'll be thinking of all of you!
-
Big hugs to everyone with treatments tomorrow.
-
How about Benadryl for the hives?
I'll be in the chair tomorrow, too!
-
I must be heading into my final week before my next treatment - the 'purple monster eyes' are back. Anyone else have eyelids that have turned a pinkish-plum color? Just glad my eye lashes and eyebrows seem to be holding tight.
-
Taxol #2 today. I hope and pray that it does not suck like #1 did.
I have a rash on my shoulders and my back too. Benadryl makes me hyper not sleepy, so I am afraid to take it with the steroilds cause I willl really be bouncing off the walls then. lol
Let's kick cancer's ass today!
-
How many are going in today? Three-four? I was in yesterday for a 10 oncologist appt and didn't get out of the infusion room until 3:30. That makes for a long day. Didn't have a reaction while getting the infusion:). I was scared of that, phew. Today I am feeling well going on the treadmill for a bit and then I guess it is a wait and see what se's come forward. Still have the lower blood pressure but the medical people don't seem concerned. Four down two to go and then rad's. But today I can see a glimmer of light showing me the end of the tunnel. Maybe it is the steroids?? I hope not:(.
Rachel you are an amazing inspiration and partner with us all through this, please take some time to yourself and rest and relax. The economy is bad but with a work ethic like your I don't think you would have to worry about employment. -
Rachel my eyelids do that. They swell and turn colors. Maybe a taxotere thing?
Good luck today ladies. You all are in my thoughts. I feel like a loser, I had to have my sister in law take the girls to school today. Just feeling bad. -
Good Luck to all having tx this week..Stay strong!!!
-
Hi everyone
I had my second taxol last week and my bloodwork showed elevated liver enzymes, anyone else? Taxol while it is easier than AC has been an emotional roller coaster with pain on top. Can't hardly put a sentence together much less a paragraph. My kids are feeling it now with the emotions running wild and DH just doesn't know what to. The eyelashes and brows are going now and almost worse feeling than hair, just trying to get through one more month. Now onc is trying to lower pain meds because of Florida laws and I really don't think that applies to cancer patients, just venting.. Hope everyone is doing well today and I will be counting down til the end of tx. -
I'm writing from the chair. Second Taxol infusion. As it turns out, they did not lower my dose just gave me a script for Dilaudid (sp) for pain. I am hoping that this tx doesn't give the incredible pain I got last time.
Sounds like everyone is a bit of a rollercoaster ride as far as SE's and bloodwork is concerned.
I dont have discolored eye lids but the soles of my feet are peeling. Ewww.
Happy thoughts and a pain free weekend for all.
Christine -
Momof3, Bailey and Gator - I am joining you in the chair for #4 in a couple of hours. Good luck to all of you today!
Markat - do not feel like a loser. I swear my job for days 4-5 seems to be official recliner weight. I couldn't go anywhere if I wanted to, which I decidedly do not want!
FLIslander - I'm sorry you are having so much trouble with Taxol. Are you on steroids for your tx? That is what causes my emotions to run wild. I hope they get your liver enzymes under control and that you start feeling better soon!
To all the hives suggestions, thanks. I do have Benadryl but they don't last for long, are mostly just annoying.
Rachel - I agree with the group. I am still working full time and only take the day off for treatments. I have 2 stepchildren that are at the house 3 or 4 days a week and 2 grown girls of my own. It's tough....and I've given myself permission to be lazy and relax when I need to. You need to do the same and take care of yourself. This journey will be over before we know it and it will be back to life as usual. Take the time for yourself now, when you need it most. HUGS
-
Wow, today is a busy day for a lot of you geting infusions, Sending all good thoughts and hoping for minimal SE's for all.
Hoping everyone has a restful weekend.
Take care.
-
My 4th and final treatment is DONE! Woot woot! The infusion went smoothly and my counts were all good (thank you, Lord!). My labs were at 9:20 a.m. and we left at 1:30 - - usually it's after 2:00, so everything was clicking along today. Because I had the phlebitis flare up on my hand last time, they gave me the infusion on the bottom of my arm - up from my wrist. I'm pretty sure it's going to bruise (from the looks of it already). I take off the day of treatment, the day after and Monday. I found that Sunday/Monday are my "down days."
Hoping everyone else had a decent day "in the chair". We're on the way, girls!

Is anyone else sweating? Not glowing or perspiring like a lady, REALLY sweating. At unpredictable times. Not a fever, just hot. Enough to have to change the sheets sometimes. And take lots of showers, which my dry skin doesn't like. After three chemo cycles, I missed a period, so maybe this is chemo-induced menopause. Maybe this is TMI, but oddly enough, it's not smelly BO sweat. Thank goodness, because I haven't worn deodorant since my diagnosis in October (yes, I know, some people think the deodorant thing is crazy).
-
Yes, most of us are having hot flashes, chemopause... My a/c and heater can't keep up with me, then it's blankets on, blankets off.
-
Hi ladies, wow so many of us in for tx today, so many so close and congratulatiions Bailey, I can only imagine how wonderful and what a relief!
I hope all do well with SEs.
Had my first taxol and thanks to God, no reaction. My worrisome se that continues from AC is this rapid heart rate. 118 at my appt! Makes me so weak. Onc doesn't want me to even try to exercise, just do regular things. Esp after last week. So I will just monitor for SEs now.
FLislander my enzymes are also elevated. Onc said chemo will often do so.
Rachel yes, pink eyelids for me with my spiky lashes. I have to use drops so many times a day I can't wear any makeup. Bottom lashes are just about gone. I used to have pink cheeks from rosacea, now I'm so pale I could wear blush if I owned any.
Kelly, for years i had hives and no relief. The allergist said they're not sure why it works but to try Zantac, which I've taken now for years, (until bc it was my only my only med, and I complained about that, ugh) but it worked.
Mardibra, I hope the dilauidid helps, better yet, that you don't even need it! What did they say about your feet?
Blessings to all tonight, Laura -
Wow...what a good day! I haven't included in my dx but I am technically stage IV. In my initial scans they found multiple lungs nodules...too small to biopsy but they glowed on a PET scan. I had another CT on Thursday last week. Today my MO said the nodules have shrunk by more than half and most have disappeared completely! The TCH is working and this is the first good news I have had since October 18th! Needless to say this news makes an SE's I get from treatment today worth it. I am kicking some cancer ass!
I hope all the ladies who joined me in the chair today had a good day and I wish us all minimal SE's for the week to come. Aside from my family, I couldn't wait to share this good news with all of YOU! Thanks for being there.
-
Congratulations Kelly! That is awesome!!
-
Congrats Kelly that is great news! I guess taxotere is a good thing. I am happy for you. Enjoy your night and treat yourself some way to celebrate. Let us know what you did.
-
Kelly- wonderful news!
-
Kelly, that is the most fabulous news! I'm so happy for you.
-
Kelly..that is fantastic news! Hope you did something to celebrate!!
-
Congratulation Baily and Kellogg's! Fantastic news!
Well, came home from tx today and crashed. The Benedryl Makes me soo tired. No SE's yet but if it's anything like last time pain won't start until Saturday morning. Hoping it doesn't but I will survive if it does.
Regarding my peeling feet (ewww), MO told me today that it is a known SE. Thank God it's winter!
As far as sweating, I've got it bad too. Hot, cold, hot, cold. Have not had my period since starting chemo 12/1. Chemo pause? Probably. The night sweats are the worst. And yes, I have had to change sheets in the middle of the night. Blah.
Hoping everyone has a calm SE free weekend.
