The Good ... hubby says 'I am going to vacuum and dust ..."
The Bad ... entire statement "I am going to vacuum and dust for you while you are at the story today."
The Ugly ... I stayed at the store as long as I could to make sure he had plenty of time to get done.
I figure that made up for the assumption that it was 'my' job and he was doing me a favor. And he does do a really good job when he does it.
Glad to see Gracie and RR and Athena back again. Worried about Blue and Alpal these days.
Hoping the doc can do something to make you feel better Scootaloo. Waiting for update on the potential doggie adoption.
I don't know if our groundhog saw his shadow or not. Weather has been too nice to care ... the way this winter has been it can continue for another 6 weeks with no complaint from me.
I missed the Superbowl halftime show because I wasn't paying attention and hubby thought I knew it was on and would come out if I wanted to see it. Communication is not always our strong point
Anyway he says Madonna put on an excellent show ... he doesn't think there was anything for the usual suspects to purse their lips and get outraged about. I like Madonna ... gonna have to go find it online later. Wondering how Riley is doing since she had to commute downtown yesterday and today?
-
No doggie for me. :-( My sister's dog has issues and they didn't get along. I'm donating to the rescue and to the dog's care, though, so that makes me feel a little better.
WR - did hubby do his usual good job? :-)
-
Shucks on the doggie. Nice of you to donate ... rescues always need all the help they can get.
He did ... he moves furniture even ... and uses all those attachment thingies on the baseboards and walls and ceiling! Then he took the dogs out to brush them so they won't shed so much ... been there, done that ... the hair will reappear shortly anyway. They need to go to the groomer for another good bath and brush out.
Are we the only ones not watching football?
-
I think we must be. I'm quietly seething about pain, unfairness, and mistreated animals while my daughter does her college homework. She lives in an apartment, but really she lives here.
Yay for good work! Is he busy? Can he come and do mine?
-
I'n not watching either. The Wabbit's husband sounds like a keeper, even with all the advance planning (why is it that men don't give two hoots when a carpet is dirty, but woe betide anything happening to the garage floor!
Scoot, sorry about the dog.
-
Yah, me too. Lucy was a keeper.
I think PM's head is going to explode over on the Komen thread. DUCK!
-
Well it will probably be about 6 months before he gets a hankering to vacuum again. I'll let you all know and maybe we can negotiate something
Your onc needs to come up with some ideas for that pain! There has got to be something. It can make a girl cranky dealing with that all the time.
-
Talk about stress - I've been watching the last 10 minutes of the game and monitoring PM's head explosion on the Komen thread - I think I may need an Ativan!
Blue - hope you're doing o.k.
Scoot - sorry about the dog and the pain too.
Lindasa and Scoot - Thomas shouldn't be in the NHL as far as I am concerned - they should have sent him down to the minors - he's an embarrassment.
-
I live in a Super Bowl free zone.
-
Haha! Good for you, Cherryl!
Thomas's statements and actions were embarrassing, for sure, but unfortunately he's a good goalie. Too good for the minors.
WR, you think I'm cranky? DO YOU? ;-)
-
That's what I get for believing false rumors ... slinking away now
-
O.K., someone clue me in....what's wrong with Thomas? What did I miss? 'Cos he didn't want to meet the President? Admittedly, I don't follow U.S. politics so is there more to the story? I LOVE hockey and he's amazing but maybe there's a reason I shouldn't like him. Is there?
-
No problems with the commute this weekend!! The hospital is just north of the streets being shut down, etc. I left for home with 10 min. left in the first half and got home just before Madonna started her show. The only "iffy" thing she did was plant her face in one of the dancers' crotch - she did a cartwheel over him while he was sitting - it was pretty quick, so many may have missed it. I really liked that she used 4 of the local high school bands' drum lines for the show and a lot of the extras dancers were also locals.
I LOVED Kelly Clarkson doing the anthem. She's gorgeous and can really sing. She also used locals for her backup vocals - The Indianapolis Childrens' Choir - so that was neat, too.
Also happy The Giants won. The Pats and the Colts are rivals, and there was a prevailing thought that if OUR Manning couldn't play/win, at least his brother could, so there are a lot of happy folks in Indy tonight. And one of the local news crews addressed THE burning question in Indy: Are we going to get a permanent zip line now since the one they put up over Super Bowl Village was a gigantic hit? The answer seems to be "yes"!And my favorite commercial was the one with Drew Brees' little toddler son kicking a football through all of the neighbors' windows (walls, houses...) and him apologizing and paying for the repairs with a sheepish, "Sorry! I guess he's going to be a kicker."
-
SuperBowl to me: a great big bowl of delicious ham and bean soup!
-
With chocolate on top? :-D
-
Hi all,
Is it just me or are the Super Bowl commercials getting to be not worth the effort anymore?
I guess I'm cranky because I didn't much care for Madonna's halftime show either. It seemed too much self adolation to me.
Edited to Add: ducking from the fruit Madonna fans are gonna be throwing at me
-
The only commercial that really impressed me was Clint Eastwood's Detroit Chrysler commercial - loved it!
-
Madonna always had thought highly of herself. I guess you have to to be a successful performer.
-
My favorite commercial was the one with Mr. Quiggly, the French Bulldog, that moonwalked over the finish line in a race with greyhounds.
Mary
-
Mary, I just went and watched the video of that ad and it was cute. I must've taken a bathroom break during that one.
-
RR -- I haven't seen the Eastwood/Chrysler ad but did read about it this morning. Eastwood was definitely making a (positive) statement about the automotive industry!I did see (on UTube) the VW ad with the dog losing weight in order to get through the doggy door and chase the car! Also saw a video of how it was made (yes, the dog was wearing an artificial "fat" coat) and then a followup parody of the ad featuring a cat!

Hi Friends!
I got a note from Blue ... she's still having a hard time with the dystonia and getting her meds straightened out. She said she's been pretty "blue" lately but will be back as soon as she can.
I thought the superbowl was kind of boring .. until the last couple of minutes. Some of the commercials I just didn't understand at all. I thought the M&M's were cute and the little bulldog moonwalking.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Bren

HUGS TO BLUE - we are all thinking of you -
-
Hi, all. I owe you a story. I'll try to keep it short.
I haven't been here lately because my dad died last week. He had late-stage Alzheimer's and had been in a nursing home for exactly 2 years; so we knew the disease would catch up with him pretty soon. I just didn't expect it would be this sudden. I got a call one day that he had stopped eating and was going downhill, and hospice had been called in. Four days later, he just sort of went to sleep.
People are saying things like "he is better off now"; and some have even said they are "glad" he died, because ... well, I don't know. I understand what they're saying, and I agree that having progressive dementia is a terrible way to go. I am relieved that he is not suffering anymore. Honestly, though, I would never tell anyone I was "glad" she had lost a loved one, much less her dad. But people say what they think sometimes, and sometimes they aren't thinking very much.
OTOH, I've heard nothing but good, sweet, appropriate things from the women I've met here on these Boards. The only place on the Boards I've been lately is over on the "Aging Parents Anonymous" thread, where we've been talking about the difficulty of dealing with our parents' medical problems and home care. So I mentioned there that Dad had died. I think there is something about having cancer that makes a person realize how important words are.
That said, I want to welcome our sleek lioness back to the pride, and second (or third, or fourth) the concern about Blue. And, I want to add that I cannot believe I had never heard of Jackie Evancho until someone posted that link upstream. Wow.

((((((((((((( Otter ))))))))))))) I'm so sorry about your Dad.
-
Oh Otter~
I am sorry about your dad. Some people just don't understand how much words can hurt. Or they mean well but they cannot find the way to say it. Thinking of you and sending you hugs and prayers.
-
(((Otter))) So sorry about your father. There are no words -- except to say that I think of my dad every day (he died in 1974) and I'm so grateful he was my father. I'm sure you feel the same way about yours.
-
Otter - very sad news - I'm sure you'll miss him a lot.
