Gotta stop the night time snacking.  I do great all day and then after dinner it is like a free for all.  I hate that it gets dark so early.  My husband goes to bed at 630 to avoid eating anything after dinner, I am not that desperate, but I am really frustrated that I have lost my willpower.

GuyGirl, I know what you are saying... I can be so full from dinner and by 8:00 I am ready to eat every carb in the pantry... Other than wiring my mouth shut , I am not sure what to do !! Sealed

GuyGirl, Tracie, I suffer from the same problem.  I've tried to stop and its just a bad habit that keeps coming back.  Lately I've been better at sticking with a little healthier food but really need to stop picking

I think I've found my perfect solution to dieting... cheezy curls! I eat a few handfuls and... presto... not hungry for *anything* for hours.

    (I'm only partially kidding, btw)

Truth is, I'm not a grazer; I almost never snack in between meals. Wonder why I'm not in minus digits...

Hi there ladies!!  I'm looking to join if you don't mind.  First of all I'll make you ALL feel better about your weight.  At the moment, I weigh in at 220lbs at 5'7.  I DID weigh 254lbs before I started this weightloss thing in the fall.  I was on a program called Simply for Life but it has become too expensive.....very good program though!  I'm on my own now and I need some motivation from a group like this.  I need to lose AT LEAST another 20lbs by April....I'm scheduled to have my reconstruction done (which is also a BIG motivator).  Also, I want to prove my ps wrong that I CAN lose the weight......and then tell him to shove it where the sun doesn't shine...lol!

Hmmm... I'm not a snacker, but for those of you who are.... what about getting lowfat/diet stuff like pudding or those 100 calorie snack packs? Or, prepare a snack bag of carefully measured goodies so you know what you are getting and don't just keep reaching into the bag.

When I dropped to 122 (too skinny for me, I might add) I used the 100 calorie packs and I found it kept the munchies at bay. Now I just fill a cup of whatever goodies I want and then walk away from the mother-load.

I took this thread out of my favs as nothing was happening with my weight and, to be honest, I wasn't even trying. NOW, something is going on with my weight - it is going up. FrownI weighed in at 153 at my oncology appointment yesterday. That's the first time I've gone over the 150 mark since surgery. I was probably over 150 then, but can't remember. At the "worst" during chemo, I was down to 135, and realistically that is never going to happen again. Anyhow I've decided to "re-join" and post my weight, and actually TRY to take off ten pounds.

I am off on a trip to England early in March and would love to have some of the weight off by then.

I had a big ol piece of egg casserole HELLO.... I do so well during the day I measure stuff out I try to eat low carb I make sure everything has fiber in it... tonight I am going to break this cycle.

Tracie23:  I don't know if you have tried this in the past or not but, whenever I feel the urge to snack I drink a big glass of water...that usually helps me.  Although, I must admit, I HATE drinking water.  I have to force myself to do it.  Also, if you have the urge to munch (even at night) a handfull of wallnuts or almonds usually do the trick (if you're not allergic to nuts).  Anyway, I hope that helps you....or someone here :-)

My latest downfall has been chicken wings...I had this obsession with them several years ago and now it is back..dang...teriyaki, caribbean, bbq, ginger..you name it..they are with me...deep fried, lots of sauce..gah...

I see the onc on Wednesday..trying to diet and excercise a bit until then..last time he told me that I was doing at great at keeping my weight down...gah....

I worked at the office of a grocery store chain and we just got in samples of donuts, cookies, cake, cinnamon rolls..all that stuff..gah.

and Heidi...I said I was 140 with lots of clothes on..I was hoping you would do some math for me and reduce it little..how about 138????

Hey maritime mom...nice name...I'm sure there is a story behind it?  Will you share?

While I haven't posted my weight on here yet, I'm still following the thread and trying to diet and exercise.  I was very proud of myself that I only gained a 1/2 lb over the holidays.  That's a huge accomplishment for me.

Since diagnosis I've lost quite a bit a weight and my hubby has never really commented on it, but last weekend he finally noticed.  He couldn't get over how much flatter my tummy had become.  Made me feel really good, helps to keep me on track a bit.

Hi all!  can I join in as well?  I gained way too much over the holidays and during the first semester of grad school in the fall.  I had lost over 30 lbs. after dx, but now am up about 9 lbs. since then.  I am 5' 7" and 179 lbs. I would like to get done to 154 by April 6th.  I pretty much cleaned up my diet after diagnosis, but need to keep the snacking down to a minimum and really get back to eating the best food possible.  I made a commitment to have an appointment at 8 am in front of my tv doing exercise videos (I bought all of Trudie Styler's Gaiam videos), so that is going well.  Also, got into the very bad habit of drinking Cherry Coke (of all things) at school and have promised myself that I will not go there again.  I guess we all have our vices and that's mineUndecided

Hi Susan - snacking is my downfall too. If I only ate the healthy meals we have I would be fine - but it's all the junk I eat in between that does me in. Plus I mostly work from home now after closing my preschool last year, so temptation is right there!

    Good job on exercising Susan.

Hi Titan! The name comes from the place where I'm from...Nova Scotia (which is part of the Maritime provinces in Canada).  And "mom" is because I'm a mom of 3 little girls ;-) ....who are exceptionally FULL of energy today....and I have none.

I  think that's half of my problem.. I'm eating healthy, but I totally don't have the energy to exercise!

Hi Susan...I was a diet coke freak but switched to "real coke"..just one or two a week...diet products are so full of chemicals..it's probably better just to have the real stuff if you have to have it..just saying...

Thanks MaritimeMom!  getting a little geography lesson here.....I from Ohio..one hour south of Cleveland, 1 1/2 hours north of Columbus...I have a little girl too..only she is just married and 23..but she is still my baby...I also have a 21 year old son at Ohio State University...he is such a good kid..I have been very lucky with my kids.

How old are your girls?  I have two greatnieces that are 4 years old and one that is 8 months old..I l just love them..I'm lucky that I'm close to their mom and see them alot...I find myself thinking of when my kids were little and I really miss it..time goes by way too fast.

Thanks for the welcome Heidi!  Now hope this gives me the motivation I needed...

Titan-yes, I have always stayed away from diet products, mainly because I could not get used to the taste.  I figured if I couldn't have my sugar fix, I'd just have water.  I really think it is a comfort thing for me when I am under stress.  I was also trying to stay away from too much coffee, so was looking for a substitute.  It seems anytime I eat or drink anything sugary, my stomach increases in size.  Anyone else notice this?  When I had cut out sugar from my diet, my stomach became so flat!  Hard to get back to doing that though.  It was much easier under the stress of just being diagnosed.  I'm sure you all can relate...

Gil-the world would be a better place if there were no more temptations, wouldn't it?  It is so hard sometimes.  Thanks, I am trying to do enjoyable exercise.  No more mindless sweating for me.  Much better when you can enjoy yourself and help your body!

I have 3 girls...abby (11), hailey (9), and faith(6).  They are all unique, beautiful and they keep me going...lol!  I agree with you Titan ...time goes by and they grow so quickly.  I'm so thankful for each and every day with them...to watch them grow and be a part of their lives.. I'm trying to educate my girls on the importance of a healthy lifestyle as well....which is no easy task with children sometimes.. This past Saturday night, my girls and I held a Wii dance party.  We danced for almost 4 HOURS!!  My muscles are still sore...LOL!!  I weighed myself this AM....I'm STILL the same weight....grrrrr!!. SusanHG...have you ever tried the Wii Dance?  It is a lot of fun....gets the heart rate up...and you're in the privacy of your own home (which is great if you mind shaking your booty in public....like myself...lol).

maritime mom:  I really want to try Wii Dance!  My 7 year old son (his name is Tristan) does it at his afterschool program and I guess he is a pro!  Hope to purchase it soon.  Right now, a really good cardio workout that I do is Trudie Styler's Cardio Dance from Gaiam.  So, fun and doable!  You sweat and have fun at the same time.  Plus, I look forward to doing it, which is a switch from my usual procrastination over getting on the elliptical we have here at home.  She also has a great yoga tape as well:  Strengthen and Restore Yoga--nice and slow and peaceful, the way yoga should be.  Keeps me centered and de-stressed.  I think all of us need that more than anything...
