Amazing how family still know what buttons to push, eh??? I heard something years ago that I like, as I don't see my family all the time. "You don't know me, you remember me." In other words, they still think of me as the young adult stumbling around making bad decisions! They have no idea I am now an old woman stumbling around making bad decisions.....ehehehhehehee

barbe, I love what you said about how people remember how we were at a certain stage of life and keep us there in their memories. I actually guffawed. LOL wouldn't convey what I felt.

The trick for me is I actually feel that way about myself sometimes, think I am still a young woman that won't make good decisions, when in reality I make pretty good decisions most of the time.

chabba, Love the pictures. I live  on an island in the northeast. No mountains around here, tho.

Ginger, I'm not sure about the heron, that is another picture from our local newspaper, but the great blue is the only heron I've ever seen around here.  We do have kingfishers here but they are not abundant.  We used to have one that fished in the canal from a dead tree in our yard--until the tree rotted and fell down.

We have lots of herons, great blues, great egrets, back-capped night herons and green herons. They are very territorial and will squawk and flap at another one that shows up. We also have tons of osprey. They are so majestic! But they have a little tiny peep which amazes me that comes from some a big bird.

WOW! Look at those talons! Great shot for someone....you?? If they only eat fish they don't need a scary cry. God gave that to someone else who needed it more....

Barbe, I wish I could claim that one. I am still dithering about what digital SLR to buy and of course, what telephoto lens. My Bday is the end of the month so *maybe* DH will spring.

I have a Nikon and my sister has a Canon. Pepsi and Coke. One or the other would be fine!

I am leaning towards a Nikon d8000 (when it comes out any day now) or the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Dunno for sure. I wish I could try each for 30 days.

Barbara, they are similar enough brands that I can pick up my sisters' Canon and use it just fine. Don't over buy. If you're not going to do videos, don't pay for that feature, etc. Get the best deal you can.

Well, the deep freeze has hit FL. Only going to be 60 today but will hit the high 60's tomorrow. Brrrr.

DH and I have a hot date tonight and tomorrow I am having brunch with a friend at The Queenshead Eurobar. Then we will head to the beach to see DH's band. Here is a pic I took of the Queenshead Christmas decorations. Very cool.

Those of us with -17C  (O F) can't see that 60F counts as a deep freeze! I just got home from a lot of driving in snow and will shovel my driveway in daylight tomorrow.

Barbara you are as bad as my aussie cousin who was wearing Ugg boots when it was 28. Its summer here and we haven't made 30 yet!!!  I know it's relative. At least we are expected to have a week of dry weather just hope the humidity stays away.

18 (F) this morning when I went to church! the weird thing is that the sun still feels warm when you stand directly in its path, and it wasn't windy, so I took off my gloves and scarf (made by our lovely SoCalLisa!!) 'cause I was too warm!

BarbA - I can understand 60 being cold for you!  You don't begin to warm up until it gets to be 80 and that is why you movec to FL.  Love you gal pal.

Marlegal - to answer you question from I think another thread... Long story, short version, my name change was because my DH does not want me to have my real name as a screen name on any website, even ones I trust.  He is afraid of identy theft as someone tried to use his dad's identity and he has been dead for about 15 yrs. and they eveitendly did not know that identity was not a good one to try and steal (very bad credit and no money even when he was alive).  Anyway we need to be careful who knows us.

Hugs and happy weekend to all.

Alyson, I would be p!$$ed too. They require insurance here but the bozos carry the bare minimum and usually your own insurance has to pay. Then, of course, your rates go up. Nice scam, eh?

We all have to carry insurance, but as things are so tight an awful lot of people are risking it, and driving uninsured. The police have detector vans parked strategically on busy roads, that read your number plate, and you are stopped a couple of miles past the vans, if you have no insurance, and they take the vehicle and crush it !! I know our insurance has absolutely shot up this last 12 months. I used to get my bill, thru' the post, and get on the 'phone and argue them down...and usually got a good discount...now this year they only gave me a measly  £5 ($7.66) off . I was insulted ! My car is due a service... a major one...plus some sort of strut wants renewing underneath, plus some of the interior electrics are crazy...I shall need a mortgage  to pay this bill, but can't live without my car !

I treated myself to 2 black sheepskins today while I was out. Have joined them into one and fitted them onto my driving seat, and up to the headrest. Feels lovely and warm, and looks good too. I still haven't cleaned out the car yet, it really is a disgrace. I think I carry half the house with me ! It's mainly shopping bags and CDs, plus some working boots and a couple of working jackets...plus a couple of pairs of shoes, and another couple of pairs of last years sandals....plus a cardi...plus many scarves and stupid woolly hats...and assorted cans of dog food and Cokes....I sometimes have to stop myself going overboard with a big grocery shop, because I know I won't get everything in. I don't know why I have spent time and money making myself an expensive looking seat cover, only to put in my disgrace of a car !!!!  The craziest thing I ever had in it was a very small Shetland pony, poor thing folded into the back, then hitting all the backroads home before we were pulled for animal cruelty  (DD and I ) I think he started the rot, I never did get it really clean after that little jaunt, and the smell of horse hung about for ages !!

I'm having an 'at home' tomorrow, my sewing jobs are overwhelming me, lots of alterations to do. So I shall just shut myself in my sewing room with my radio and sew 'til I go blind....then perhaps I will be able to wear some of the things I bought way before Christmas ! I have 2 more family parties coming up, so I need to get into the pile of things to find something to wear. I have decided to sell my industrial sewing machine...I can't see myself making many more pairs of curtains now. It takes a big lump of my sewing room up...so it's going. WHEN I can figure out where would be best to sell it !  I have had loads of work out of it, but it still looks as if it's brand new, so maybe someone will be interested.

Isabella, I hear you about the overwhelming sewing jobs. I am trying to get back into the swing of work again, but between the bc stuff, the respiratory infection and Christmas I am so far behind. Yesterday I had my ipod blaring, I mean up really loud, and I was singing away trying to figure out how to fix something and I turned around and a customer was standing in my shop watching me. I just had to laugh. Why people trust me to fix their shoes is beyond me. lol

A little later my former GYN came in with his daughter's hand bag that needed fixing. He has stopped practicing :( He asked how was life treating me and I told him it wasn't boring and about the dx and he high fived me.Really!! He then got serious and gave me his cell phone number and said I could call at any time. I had to admit to him that after he closed his practice I have not gotten a new ob/gyn. He delivered both my babies. So now that I will be more closely involved with the medical profession I can take care of that issue too. Yay.

I have to get going, want to take the dog for a walk before I open the shop. Gotta get that fresh air and the blood pumping.

Isabella, as usual your tales have me roaring with laughter and sometimes with outrage. I swear you need to write a book. Mac, you fix shoes? How cool is that! You sew for $. I would starve if I had to sew for $. I can't even find a needle let alone thread one.
