Hi Gina!  started the day off with a blueberry smoothie with flax seed.  Yesterday, got on the elliptical, did a yoga tape, and a walk outside!  Not sure about lunch today.  I will need to eat out.  We will see how that goes.  Oh, pea soup for dinner last night.  So good on a cold winter day in Buffalo.

Another really good day. Feeling motivated and better already.  Good bfst and lunch (that's the easy part for me). Dinner was tofu seared in the wok with asparagus and scallions over brown rice.  I have learned that if you get extra firm tofu and press it for an hour to remove the moisture and then cube and fry it really hot with spices, it becomes firm and chewy (and delicious) and not wobbly.
I didn't eat tofu for a year or two after dx (due to the soy), but have done more reading and decided that once a month or so is fine.

NO snacking after dinner. Was easier - didn't think about it as much.  This is all about habits - I am convinced when you do something a few times in a row, your mind gets used to it and stops bugging you as much to do the bad stuff.

I have been good today. In the AM I made coarse oatmeal (uncut, wholegrain from the bio store) with an apple and some cinnamon thrown in. I did add a little honey as well, but still.

Lunch was at an Asian place, where I had a salad of cabbage and peppers and poached chicken dressed with lime.

Snack was green tea and two clementines.

For dinner I am thinking I will make green beans with tomatoes.

Okay, once again the homemade sauce didn't happen.  I know, I know.

Anyway, so last night was mushroom ravoli with TJs jarred sauce for the kids, and egg salad with tumeric on whole grain bread for me, using organic omega 3 eggs, veganiasse, a bit of yellow mustard, a few dashes of hot sauce and black pepper.  We all had steamed broccoli on the side.

Tonight will be more egg salad for me.  I am trying to incorporate more meals made out of what is in the fridge vs. purchasing food a few times a week for meals.

Today's good food choice are/will be:

3 cups of green tea, a spinach salad for lunch, egg salad with multigrain crackers for dinner.  I am the only one eating the egg salad in the house!

Tomorrow night we will be at a party, so I will try to make healthy food choices there as it is bring an appetizer to pass/share kind of party.  I plan on bringing hummas, pita chips and baby carrots.  I will also be bringing stuffed mushrooms, that I will try to avoid.

I am thinking of making salmon with spinach and rice on Sunday.

Had oatmeal with blueberrie for breakfast.  A few prunes and an apple for a snack.  Will be having organic peanut butter on multigrain crackers for lunch soon.  Corinne, pass the egg salad over, I'll be happy to help you out.  LOL

That might be it for the weekend for me for dinners any way.  We are supposed to get pizza for dinner tonight, but I'll only plan on eating one slice, Saturday is DH's work Christmas party at a downtown restaurant and Sunday is my b-dayKiss and we're going out again.  I will try to make healthy choices though.

Had salmon cakes and rice for dinner last night with a big escarole salad.  Blew breakfast today with a bagel and cream cheese due to no milk or yogurt in house.  Had pea soup for lunch.  Tonight, out to dinner to a Belgian restaurant where their specialty is duck fat french fries.  I think I will pass!  Hopefully, there is something healthy available for me.  I know I will be coerced into having one beer though! :-)

On a good note--did Pilates at PT this morning then to the gym for some time on the bike and treadmill.  Hope to keep it going tomorrow!

Ah, my older DD was home from school and made me breakfast--multigrain and flax pancakes with agave for breakfast, with a bowl of fresh pineapple. Lunch is a small bowl of tomato soup with kashi multi-grain pita crackers.  Dinner is cooking now--a five bean chili.

Pea soup is so good this time of year, especially in a cold climate like mine in Western NY.  Well, don't have much good to report today:  drank too much beer, did have the duck fries (way too much of them), but had a beet salad and some wonderful mussels at the Belgian restaurant we went to last night.  Feeling pretty good today, but wish i had a juicer.  Just found a great kale, celery, and green pepper juice recipe that would be great right now to detox.  Anyone have a juicer out there?  Any brand to recommend?

Kay, same here, can't get enough of hot food since chemo, during chemo as well. My Greek doc was baffled (they are convinced that you should avoid hot food if your stomach is queasy).

Susan, I admit I chuckled at your post. I thought your plan to avoid the duck fries was way too optimistic. I know there is no way I could have passed them up myself. Beets and mussels sounds very good though, so it all balances out ;)

FINALLY!  Making homemade sauce today.  I sauteed crushed garlic, shallots, shredded carrots, and diced mushrooms till soft.  I was then going to add in organic pasta sauce, but realized that there would be no way in hell my daughter would eat the sauce if she saw mushrooms and or onions.

So..I took it out, and pureed the veggies.  Then I added this to the pasta sauce and added in some spices and basil.  It is perking away on the stovetop and the house smells wonderful.

The kids will be having this tonight with some turkey meatballs and whole grain pasta.  Hubs and I are heading out to a party tonight and will be eating there.

    Hi All,

Had 4 days away at a friend's wedding and eating has been "interesting".

Back home and had a great start to the day - grilled mushrooms and green tea for breakfast and salon, cucumber and avocado for lunch (with more green tea). Met at my daddies home for a family dinner and it was decadent....... yummy yum yum yum!

Now indulging in a few glasses of wine.

Tomorrow is a NEW DAY, and I will be back to loving and nurturing my body (and soul) with healthy good and beverages.

I am toying with the idea of opurchasing a juicer. I am, however, concerned that it may be added to my pile of purchased and then binned appliances.  Does anyone have an recipes that are easy and quick for a working mother of two sporty and busy boys?

Keepingfaith, probably the most important thing is try to find a juicer that does not have a lot of parts and is not hard or time consuming to clean.  I have the Jack LaLanne jucier which works great, but I don't use it as much as I should because it is a PAIN to clean.  There are lots of simple recipes.  Good luck.

I have no experience with a juice, but was thinking about getting a bread maker. I am also worried about buying it and then not using it though. Any one have any advice?

Had plain old Cheerios for breakfast with some grass fed organic skim milk. I still love Cheerios.

One of my favorites is fresh asparagus cut up with cut up sweet potato fry in light virgin olive oil.

Feel like you are cheating, and it's heathy. Oh yeah don't forget some garlic with it, delicious!

does anyone make fruit smoothies with carnation instant breakfast added to it?

thanks all for the juicer recommendations...yes, momine--I was way too optimistic, but I had a blast being bad! 3 glasses of Belgian beer, all 8% alcohol Surprised  Back to being good now-bike ride today and yesterday, romaine heart salad for lunch and whey protein shake for breakfast, and will be making stir fry for dinner with jasmine rice.  Still need to remove this holiday weight, so this week will be very strict for me...

    Good luck everyone!

Ah, exercising and barely eating but gained a pound.  Today I had a piece of Wasa with peanut butter for breakfast (store bought Banba!) For lunch I had a turkey breast burger with a half, plain baked sweet potato and celery sticks.  Dinner was a bowl of split pea soup with ten kashi multi grain crackers.  Snacked on cutie oranges, but didn't get to my green tea today.

I have been shopping for a BPA free coffee maker.  The only one I have found so far is the Cuisinart brand.  We purchased a "coffee on demand" model, but I am not liking it very much.   Anyone out there know of a "healthy" brand of coffe maker?

Susan, I was no better the other night. A friend asked us out, and it was a sort of French place with amazing fries. So, I had some of the fries. I had some of the excellent red wine. I also had chocolate souffle. Oh well.

After an evening of absolute decadence in the champagne department, I resolved to only drink on special occasions.  My next 3 glasses will be on my husbands birthday on the 4th of February.  I had a delicious bottle opf bubbles chilling in my fridge 'just ion case' and last night I gave it a good 'seeing to'.  The bubbles saw to me after 3 glasses!!!!
I woke this morning feeling ick, with a renewed resolution not to indulge.
For breakfast I had my yummy green shake.  Met with friends for lunch and indulged in a divine chicken curry soup with rice noodles.  Dinner was half a cup of wholegrain rice, sauteed mushrooms and some tuna.  2 out of three is pretty good going.

momine and keepingfaith-the way I see it is life is too short to be too strict!  glad I'm not alone Wink

just need to get right back to things and i have!  I have only 2 more pounds of holiday weight left to lose (well, then 25 more after that, but I'll worry about that later)

Being triple negative, I need to concentrate on fat content in foods most importantly, which sometimes makes things difficult.  I was vegetarian for a while, but found that I was somehow eating too much fat not eating meat (?) I think I was making up for the loss in cheese and fats.  Now, I eat a little chicken now and then and lots of fish.  Trying to eat lots of citrus fruits like red grapefruit and a good amount of cruciferous vegetables.  I will be fixing a cauliflower dish tonight, but hoping my son eats it.  It does have cheese, so I am going to call it "macaroni and cheese".  He's seven, so I'm not sure whether it will work but I try anything!

For those interested in a purchasing a juicer, I saw this on the Groupon Goods Deals.  Its a two speed juicer, normally $100, on sale for $49.

    http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-juicerman-electric-juicer?p=4

My good food choices yesterday included, for breakfast a banana and 1/2 a whole grain bagle.  For linner (lunch and dinner) we went out for Uzbekistan food.  I never had it, so wasn't sure what to get, but got a delish plate of mixed pickeled veggies (beets, carrots, cabbage, and whole garlic cloves) and a bowl of spinach sour soup.  Which was more like spinach and dill soup.  I also got a large pot of green tea, so I think I must have had at least 5 cups. For a snack I had a large veggie/fruit smoothie (pear, apples, kale, carrot and chia seeds)

Today I will be going out for sushi with my team.  I am going to have shiitake mushroom maki rolls and a lot of green tea.  Tonight will be leftovers of the homemade spagetti sauce and pasta and the rest of the pickeled veggies that I brought home.
