Sunday did not make pasta sauce, but today bought a large Costco sized flat of organic tomato paste.

Good food choices today was a greek stewed/braised veggie sandwich and two cups of green tea. Tonight I am making organic turkey thighs braised with organic apple and shallots. I serve it with green beans and I am making stuffing for the family.

Banba, always excited for a new recipe, and believe me it wouldn't be the first time I set the alarm off! We had company this week and a Chanukah dinner tonight so I wasn't perfect but today I made some good choices of an egg white and fruit for breakfast, white bean hummus and multi grain crackers for lunch.  We skipped making latkes this year and settled upon multiple veggie dishes and turkey breasts (tofu and regular) for dinner.  Snacks of fruit and tea.  Whew, one night down, 7 to go until the specter of latkes and sufganiot (jelly doughnuts) are gone.

SAB, you can make latkes in which some of the regular potato is replaced with sweet potato. It may not be quite the same, but worth a try maybe.

This time of year is so hard to be good. I am squishing on the wagon. Hope I don't fall off.

Went out to dinner at a bar with some friends last night. Had a few nachos with salsa and cheese and tried to avoid the beef. And had a salad with a little grilled chicken. Not perfect, but given what I could have had, a small victory. I'd say just one foot fell off the wagon.

Good luck. Please if you try it, watch the oven like a hawk. It takes only a few minutes to bake.

Todays good food choice was fried brown rice mixed with brussel sprouts, Jerusalem artichokes, fresh asparagus and kale and tomato salad with roasted pumpkin seeds and olive oil/balsam vinegar dressing.

Trying to stay good, but holiday parties and on the run eating has been hard.  Yesterday had eggplant parm for lunch with a side salad.  This morning had green tea and a banana.  Will be making turkey salad with the left over organic turkey from the other night with cranberries, curry and walnuts. Dinner tonight will be black bean soup.

Tomorrow will be a clean out the fridge day since we are going to be out of town for a few days over the holidays.  Will try to make healthy meals out of what we have which is a lot of omega 3 eggs, veggies, almond milk and whole grain bread.

Ok, I'm in the wagon with all those cute puppies!

Today we went to the cracker barrel for dinner - I had the haddock with a salad and green beans. It was suprisingly good.

Today had 3 cups of green tea, organic turkey with veganisse, tumeric, walnuts and cranberries (for lunch) a banana as a snack and madras lentis and curried rice for dinner.

Having a small Christmas Eve party tomorrow, and serving a veggie tray, couscous salad, hummas, caramelized onions and feta pastry puffs, stuffed mushrooms, and mini turkey sandwiches.  I will try to stay with the first 3 items and hoping the others go quickly. I did buy organic wine for the 1 glass that I plan to treat myself with.

Christmas is at my sisters and she is making a turkey with all of the traditional fixings.  This will be my bad bad day of the month.  Its Christmas damnit! :) The rest of the organic wine will be coming with me for my 1 other glass.

I do plan on taking a 5 mile run tomorrow and will do another run on the 26th.

Corinne with all that running I think you have it covered! Sounds wonderful, your menu, wish we could all do a pot luck one day!

I had tuna today, plain jane, but good.

Today I made a big pot of quinoa with chicken stock, served some over a bed of arugula, topped it with steamed veggies and leftover turkey breast. Off to have a snack of cutie oranges and green tea.

Banba-I went to the market today with my new recipe meaning to buy the flour needed for the wasa and just lost my nerve.  Ended up buying a package instead, but thank you so much for the recipe.  I guess I just don't feel skilled enough to pull it off.

To those many of you who celebrate Christmas, may you have a very merry holiday!  Thank you for the gifts of ideas, support, and the company through these tough times.

Me again.  Hope your Xmas feasts were lovely.  We had brown & wild rice, lentils, spinach salad and a pan of roasted veggies--yams, zucchini, yellow squash, and peppers.  DH added salmon in a citrus wine sauce.  I added an organic chicken breast baked with a vegan mustard sauce.  Berry sorbet made with unsweetened apple juice and agave for dessert. Tons of leftovers. Planning an extra long walk tomorrow.

SAB - I know you can do it and so do you!

Crawling back on the wagon after sinking my spoon into homemade waldorf-salad with pear too many times during the holidays. Basically a vegan christmas but still, twice as much processed food as I normally eat.

Today my good food choice was:  Fresh baby spinach salad w/ pumpkin seeds, soy balls(no meat balls), whole wheat slice of bread, vegan cheese and organic calamata olives.

Right behind you on crawling back onto the wagon.  2 cups of green tea, a banana, organic grapes, and 2 cuties today.  Also had turkey salad and 2 mexican wedding cookies.

I am tossing out all of the sweets left over in my house tonight.  Too tempting.  And the dips are going with them.

Back on the wagon too! Cheerios with almond milk and chia seed for breakfast, and a large tossed salad for lunch - all veggies.

For dinner i would like a big pillow to sleep off all the bad things I ate over the holidays.  Funny how I used to eat soooo bad and thought digestive issues were just normal.....now I know better and my body doesn't like anything not natural.....

You put chia seed in Cheerios?  What else can you do with chia seed?  I have been procrastinating getting chia seed, I don't know what to do with it.  And remind me, why is it good for us?  Confused...

Jumping back on the wagon. Oops, I missed. There I go. I took all the cookies that we're left into the office today and threw away the brownies. Can't trust myself. My good food choice was veggie chili made with quorn instead of hamburger. I hope that is good. Also had a salad of baby spinach and other baby leaves, walnuts and feta cheese. It feels good to be back on the wagon.

Along with all my regular boring things today I had a yummy salad of spring greens smothered in lentils, red onion, artichoke hearts, grilled corn and anaheim peppers and 2 tablespoons of guacamole.  Tomorrow, after breakfast (probably wasa) I will be trying to eat no carbs, in preparation for my first follow up mammogram and ultrasound on thursday.  My LE therapist tells me this will make the breast tissue more malleable.  Has anyone heard this before?

SAB, never heard this, but going carb-less is good for you anyway, so try it.

Today I am back on the wagon.  Fully on.  I had a blueberry, cherry, strawberry, chia seed smoothie this morning. Then went for a 5 mile run and had veggie panang curry for lunch with brown rice.  Also plan on having at least 2 cups of green tea.

Despite all of the running that I have done, the scale told me that I put on 4 lbs in 4 days!  WTF!?!?.  I am back to my pre-diagnosis weight.  So cheezed off at myself.  Treating myself is not treating myself when it is going to take at least 2 months to lose the 7lbs that I want to lose. Grrrrrrr

SAB, I have not heard that either but would think the LE therapist knows what he is talking about. Mine is a wealth of info.

Had oatmeal this morning with cinnamon and raisins, for dinner, salmon and broccoli. But still trying to stay away from treats. At least I am much more moderate with it than I used to be. It's a struggle getting back to the better habits I had before the holidays though. Lunch was not as good as dinner and breakfast, but at least it was only the one meal.

Kay-- It's a process and every good decision is a victory! It seems like now my worst days are like my best days before changing my ways. Slowly, eating well is becoming a habit, and it seems more normal every day.

Last night we went out to dinner and I ordered a chicken breast, and a to go box.  I put 2/3 of the meat in the box and ate 1/3 with a half cup of brown rice and a salad.   So much for no carbs for the mammo...

Speaking of mammo-all is clean and clear!  I had been so worried about changes that I felt to the tissue but the Dr. told me it felt different because of all the weight loss!  SO relieved. That inspired me to have a nice big salad with no-sugar dressing for lunch. I'm going for those last 15 pounds starting right now.

    Great news SAB!

Good choices today were sea bass, brussel sprouts and a side salad for dinner.  A couple cups of green tea today as well.

I was watching Dr. Oz yesterday and Alton Brown was on.  I am going to follow his 1 day a week, 1 dessert rule. I  have eaten way too many sweets this past week, and the scale shows it.  So, I am going to bring myself to a 1 dessert 1 day a week rule, and then cut down to 1 a month.  At least that is what I am telling myself that I will do. :)

Sliced oranges instead of chippes and water instead of coffee.

I am wondering how it can get even better than this Wink

Stage1~ I was trying my best to eat a vegan diet and was looking for protein in diet. It also has omega 3 and 6.  I'm liking it better than ground flax seed.  It's high in good fat, but fat none the less, so I stopped the walnuts too.  I didn't like any of the fake meats, so protein was a challenge. I've started to eat fish again.

Good choices today were 2 cuties and a slice of oatmeal blueberry bread for breakfast, and tomato soup and multigrain crackers for lunch. Tonight will have an organic chili (canned) as it is a fend for yourself night tonight.

Tomorrow I will be treating the kids to sushi, since I have a Groupon that is expiring.  On New Years Day we will be having crab legs, broccolli and rice pilaf.

Thanks, Sagina. I will try the chia seeds, MO said no flaxseed, as it is a phytoestrogen.  I will study the chia seed to see if it is OK with the ER+ BC.  This whole thing is like a science project to me!  Anyway, my good food choice is a green drink that I juiced this morning, do you want to know my bad choice?  Well. I'll tell you anyway.  It was a really fat sugar cookie from Christmas.  I have given most away, but a few left.  I will not pig out, just one if I must.  My conclusion about desert, is that I cannot do one just once a week.  I would be climbing the walls.  So, I have decided that if my calorie intake allows, I will have no more than one cookie a day.  That is a definite improvement from Before BC.

I had two generous tablespoons of hummus with 10 kashi pita chips and a very good pear for lunch. I skipped snacks today. I'm trying to figure out what to order for dinner, which is out with friends tonight at a very good Italian restaurant (which is why no snacks today.)  If there is no whole grain pasta I will try to be virtuous and order grilled chicken.

Does anyone know anything about Tulsi tea?  I googled it, sounds good, I love the taste and it is caffiene free...Just wondering the difference between this leaf tea and herb teas that are known to be pytoestrogenic...
