Barb, I would say you can safely go out and celebrate this weekend. Is Marty playing somewhere?
-
Barb, hope your weekend is very wonderful! Your tree is lovely.
Alyson, I see you mentioned Downton Abbey a couple of pages back. The first season on BBC America was shown here in the States last year & the second season begins next month. I found it to be excellent & am looking forward to more of the same.
Lisa, those roses pictures are stunning!
Those rodent stories - I could just see my DH getting out his muzzleloader & using that on one in the toilet. Too funny!
Hi Marybe!
Missed you, AmyJo!

Good news:) Have a great weekend !

Barb, what a wonderful hint of the formal good news to come! As we all know, the waiting game is agonizing, especially over a weekend. Twice since my diagnosis, I've had medical professionals go out of their way to make sure I had a good, or at least more peaceful, weekend.
I received my BC diagnosis on a Friday afternoon, when my daughter was out of town and my husband was out of the country. Friday night and Saturday were long and bleak. I didn't have a surgeon or oncologist and didn't know what to do. Then Saturday night, a nurse from the hospital's cancer center called me from her home to tell me that my gynecologist had referred me to a highly regarded breast surgeon there and that they would see me on Monday morning. To this day, I cherish that nurse because of her kindness.
More recently, I had both CT and bone scans on a Friday, figuring I would hear the results at my appointment with the MO on Monday. But before she left the office Friday afternoon, she called me to tell me that the scans were clean. "It's good news," she said, "and I didn't want you to have to wait until Monday to find out."
Valjean and Alyson, I didn't see the original post, but my husband and I both LOVED "Downtown Abbey." We bought Season 1 on DVD and were waiting to hear when Season 2 would start, so we could catch it live. We highly recommend it!!
Speaking of entertainment, it looks as if I may be inside a lot this winter with my chemo treatments starting later this month. Any other recommendations for great movies or TV series to watch on DVD??

HAHAHAAHAHA, I just realized something VERY funny!!! We aren't big on guns here in Canada as you know, and can't carry them just because we want to. So...back to the rodent stories...y'all killed your mice with guns and my DH used a roll of toilet paper!!! hehehehehehehehehee...geez, talk about over-kill!!!
-
I am not big on guns either Barbe...I did have to know how to use them when I was in the Navy, but none in my home or around me again
-
BarbA, Liked the story of the bone scan and how you broke through the secrecy barrier. I don't know how many women that rib pain happens to, but one year after my rads, my ribs were hurting in my back, but it kind of knifed thru' to the front. I got the bone scan too, clear; then the pain resolved in about one more month on its own. I now wonder if that type of rib pain is somewhat "normal" in the healing process for those of us who did rads.?
-
Lisa, I had to qualify to shoot a service revolver twice a year for 7 1/2 years while I was on the Toronto Police Auxiliary. Also, my Dad belonged to a hunt club. So we grew up with guns, just chose not to carry them or keep them in our homes.
FYI, I was an EXCELLENT shot!!
-
I believe it Barbe...
-
I believe you both and don't want to make either one of you MAD!!!!
Kathy
-
You are probably right Kathy
-
my dad used to take me hunting, but quit, cause he killed bambis' daddy. thaat did it with him tsking me. i never ate venison, either, till i was ana dult..hahaha' Im still waiting with you, Barbe.. wonder if irts the thyroid again...
-
Brrr
-
Lovely, Lisa! To look at. Not to be there.
-
Great shot Lisa. I wonder how I keep my lens from fogging up in winter. Anyone know? I've never done winter shots as I figure I'd have problems. The lens would be the temperature of the inside of the car...probably 60 or so. The outside would be 0 or lower!! How do I do it???
And yes, that's one of the reasons I wouldn't want to have a gun AND be angry at someone. We were trained to hit the 'grand mass' of the torso - not a head shot. Sure to stop you in your tracks and, oh so much easier to make at 21 yards!!
-
Love the pic lisa!
-
Took this in Western Canada Barbe
Looks cold but it wasn't
-
I recognize that mountain, Lisa!! (Remember when I was able to tell where your shot was taken? I was pretty good at that for a while...)
-
Morning all. Am at present away from home using a friends laptop. So pleased thing went well Barbara. Barb how are you? And everyone else. We are about to head out to do a bit of shopping. DH is working here is morning and we head back to Auckland this evening - a six hour drive.
Loved series 2 of Downton and can't wait for series 3. I won't let any secrets out.
-
Barbe, I have no clue where I took it, only in the Canadian Rockies..

On Friday I treated myself to a bottle of cherry brandy, to save for Christmas..
A ha THAT didn't last long. I have managed to drink over half of it !!! 3 nights sat all alone and that's what I get up to. Never mind , will have to buy another bottle this week !!!! I don't like to sip away in tiny glasses....just seem to go a bit overboard tho' when filling a normal size glass. Am turning into quite the little drinker. I was out to lunch on Friday, and had a double white wine. That cost as much as a bottle does to buy. I was pretty disgusted at the mark up. My drink cost £6.60, and a bottle of reasonable white wine is around £7 ....shall think twice before I order again, or take my own bottle and hide in my bag !!!
Went to see neurosurgeon early Friday morning, for result of my MRI. It was perfectly clear....I was sitting crosslegged expecting him to say they had found 'something' but, no all AOK. He was the perfect gentleman this visit, apologised for the mix-up when he told me I had missed 3 appointments, so took the wind out of my sails. I was all ready for a sort out with him. I have a heart check on Jan 6th, then will get my spine operation 'within 2 months' then he proceeded to say 'UNLESS we get an emergency'..... always has to be a catch !! Apparently, he does a lot of brain tumour surgery, so sometimes gets an emergency ! So suppose the relief of no bad news prompted me to hit the bottle this weekend !!
Isabella.
-
Isabella, so happy for you and the no bad news.
I don't often say much unless I have something to contribute. I must say though that I always watch for your posts as I enjoy them so much.
-
Isabella congratulations! That is great news, now on to your back repair in February, maybe?
The set up you described for your dogs sounds wonderful. They must be nicely spoiled. I always wanted a doggie door so my dogs could let themselves out but never had the layout where it would work.
Hm Cherry Brandy, I may need to try that.
Ginger
-
Isabella, cherry brandy sounds yummy. I must try that.
-
Isabella, sounds funny when you say the MRI is clear and you're getting back surgery!! I suppose you meant there were no surprises except.......??
-
I love Cherry Herring...too bad I cant imbibe
