We have been following this alkaline diet for about two months now and we tested this morning and my alkaline levels were very high.  Good news...the diet is working.  Cancer has difficulty surviving in an alkaline environment.  Any guesses about what my conventional BS will say about this when I tell him at my app't today?

Kaara, that is great news. I'm sure your conventional BS won't have much to say, since they are only versed in torching cancer with chemicals and knives. I am on a rant today towards conventional medical standards!! Happy to hear your news.

Thank you, Sharon for all your great information.  The first 10 lbs went away right during and after rads, but the second ten lbs are lingering.  It is the famous "plateau" everyone trying to lose wight experiences.  I guess, even on a juicing and health life style change.  This is taking time, I have always considered myself "health conscious", even taking a nutrition course years ago in college, I was on Nutrisystem on and off for years, finally figuring out those are not whole foods.  I yo-yo-ed over and over again.  I was always overweight as a child, if that means anything...anyway, I have old goals, but new ways, and I think they might work.  Time will tell.  I will do some searching for an ND, in my area.  Cost will be important, though.  I am paying Kaiser $1045 a mont and it is going up to $1135 in January...plus the copays that are not cheap!

This thread is great, thank you all!

stage 1:  I lost 7 lbs right away on the new diet and juicing and didn't need to lose it, but I've leveled off over last two days.  My DS says it is because body is detoxing and getting rid of built up toxins.

It's better not to lose the weight so quickly anyway...that way it stays off as long as you follow a sensible diet and exercise program.

My boyfriend just talked to his sister who has lung cancer and is undergoing chemo.  She got the bill...it was $50,000 for one treatment and she has to pay 20% of that!  I figure I'll take that 20% and put it towards a good alternative clinic and retain my quality of life.

The Rockefellers have been the major force for the monolithic monopoly of allopathic medicine and the expansion of their own pharmaceuticals. They started with investing heavily in medical schools and the American Medical Associations, and then replacing natural healing and herbal remedies with petrochemical based pharmaceuticals.

It's a failing shady system. The humanity of medicine has been thrown under the bus.  A real health care system would involve helping patients for real, and teaching them how to get and stay healthy, and save their organs and glands, not poisoning and cutting people up.  That's barbaric!

Doctors that graduate from medical school are nutritionally illiterate and lacking basic health knowledge. Because they have a white coat they are told that they know everything about health and the human body.  The white coat means very little to me. (The chef at the Olive Garden has a white coat too!)  Kaara, I wouldn't be surprised if your BS gives you a blank stare when you tell him the good news. You'll probably have to explain what alkaline means, so be prepared and show him the studies too.

And your DS is right, Kaara.   When you go on a mainly raw food diet and start juicing, you will lose weight.  The body is cleaning itself out, getting rid of all the acid waste and healing itself.  I lost 5lbs.  I freaked out at first because I was already lean.  But, the juice feast help me to rebuild my body and mind on a new foundation.  When you rest and fast/detox that is when the lymphatic system works the best.  Animals in nature know to eat plants, fast and rest when they are sick, but not humans. We turn to drugs.  Here are some books I highly recommend.

Princess123, This is an excellent thread.    I started reading from page 1 but haven't made it all the way through yet but am determined to do so.  I have been trying to incorporate a lot of these things into my life.  I'm not as strong as I wish I was but I'm making progress.  I see some familiar names here so most of you know I recently became stage II.  I have had 2 melanomas and bc.  After a recent PET scan because of the melanoma, they found bc in my lymph nodes.  I have undertaken a "radical" treatment plan.  Not so much to us here on this thread but to my mainstream docs. lol.  I am doing 40 days of combined DMSO, high dose vit C and B17.  I will have a PET scan in mid to late Dec to check it's progress.  I am expecting a good result!!

I was reading in the early pages here about having a grandchild that wont eat.  I have one of those.  I worry.  She's a beautiful little five year old.  She is a tiny little thing, only weighs 30 lbs.  Her 3 yr old sister and she are practically the same size. She seems otherwise healthy for the most part but I still worry. She dances, plays violin, she does competitive cheerleading and is a paid model and quite the drama queen.   Yes, her mother has her in everything and my granddaughter enjoys it all to the fullest. I am very proud of her as I am all 4 of my grand babies!!   Anyway, just had a funny little story about thanksgiving.

My GD to her little friend: Oh my gosh it's almost thanksgiving!  I hate thanksgiving!

Friend: I like thanksgiving...why do you hate it?

GD: Havent you heard what they do on thanksgiving?  They KILL a turkey...put it in the oven and COOK it...then they all sit around and make everyone EAT IT!

    Friend: Ohhhh...(pause)....but I like turkey.

GD: Not me and I'm not eating it!

My DD said she made it sound like some statanic rutual that she was NOT partaking in.  The little friend sounding very disappointed, as she was looking forward to thanksgiving...and turkey  My DD had to explain to the friend's mother that "just in case Lilly has taking a shying away from turkey...here's why...."

I guess I should cease telling her fairy tales...Hansel & Gretel would be proud.

    LOL.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Impositive:  LOL...that's a cute story.  Kids are so honest..they just say whatever they feel like.  Glad your treatment is going well.  I had my dr. app't this afternoon to get final results of path.  It was IDC grade l stage l, HR+ PR+ HER2-.  The HR/PR numbers were high which doc said was good.  Lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy and depending outcome of that possibly rads.  I gave him the study on 70 + women with early stage bc not having to do rads or hormone therapy.  I think he was surprised that I had done my homework.  He thought the age cutoff was 75.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

impositive, ITA with your granddaughter. I don't eat birds either. Turkeys' beaks are severed, and some toes are amputated, with no anesthetic, no regard for the short-term pain   I care about animal welfare.   I refuse to eat any commercially raised animals.  To add, they are all diseased, pumped with antibiotics and treated horribly.  I believe that if we are putting something in our bodies that is filled with pain and anxiety, that is going to affect us.  Anyone who views the documentary "Earthlings" will not want any part of that.

I lurk here but I don't post often.

I changed my diet and way of thinking over a year ago and I haven't looked back. My sex drive is up, I am no longer feeling tired, and my mood has inproved over all..

But I really have to contribute most of this to WATER. I truly believe since I increase my water my intake my body is happier. It's like I am hydrating and flushing all the bad things that linger away.

My skin is basically singing the praises. So aside from the supplements I think increasing my water was the best thing I could have done.

Since I had a dysplastic mole removed last week, I have been researching a lot about melanoma, etc. AND, since I have increased my sun exposure over the past year to get my Vitamin D levels up, I was very interested in this article about gut health and sun exposure. I subscribe to this blog's FB page, and think there are valuable tips here. It seems that the sun can help your overall gut health, and as we all know gut health is our first line of immunity defense. Enjoy!

My app't with my BS went well.  He gave me all my statistics ER/PR ++ HER2-, size 0.8 cm, so lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy only, and depending on outcome of that, suggested rads.  I showed him my study of 70+ women with early stage bc where it said they didn't benefit from radiation.  He was interested in the study because his information was that it was 75+.

I have an app't next Wed to meet the nurse coord, MO, Radiologist, and whoever else is on the medical team, to go over my treatment plan.  My surgery is scheduled for Dec 12, so after a long wait this is moving along quickly.  I'm anxiious to get it over with and get back to living a normal life.  I also want to make an app't with the naturopathic physician to go over my results with him and get his ideas on treatment.  This will serve as my second opinion.

Fighter34, welcome. I noticed my libido skyrocketed too when I really started getting healthy and working out hard. A diet of mainly whole foods (fresh fruits and veggies) help create energy in the body and energy is, IMO, one of the key factors to great sex. If you're tired and drained sex feels like an uninteresting chore. You can't wait for it to be over.

Starchy foods like grains, breads, pasta, and potatoes have an extremely negative effect on our energy levels and our mood. I noticed that people who indulge in junk food  or too much  cooked "dead" foods are usually  "Debbie and Donny Downers".  Constant large doses of sugar and/or carbohydrates can cause the brain's endorphins sites to slow production. The lack of enough endorphin in the brain causes depression.

My skin has improved a lot too. When you juice regularly it's like you are telling old age to wait.

Marriana, the article you posted is interesting. I sunbathe a lot.  I didn't know that exposing my tummy was preventing gut bacteria.  Every day I learn something new.  I was thinking about using the "safe" tanning beds once in a while this winter. I have to research just how safe they actually are.

The very best internal sunscreen is an extremely potent antioxidant. I don't burn anymore. I think taking grape seed extract has helped. It's loaded with antioxidants.  Did you end up trying  astaxanthin?

Kaara, I'm looking forward to hear what your ND has to say too.

impositive.  I have a strong feeling your results are going to be positive.  Do you now have to follow a strict diet and/or take special supplements?

    Happy thanksgiving to ya'll!

I am getting caught up in the holiday spirit and the first x-mas trees are also surfacing over here in Scandinavia. :)

This may have bee brought up before but I recently read that pektin(found in the skin of apples)and sunflower seeds binds and removes radioactive resedue. As well as  a number of green veggies like kale. Anyone knows more about this? Have we talked about detoxing our livers with Milk Thistle yet? How about after chemo?

Banba, welcome. That's funny. I was reading about pectin this morning. I'll post the article below. I did not do chemo. But, I imagine many of the women who lurk here did. So, I'm glad that you brought up the subject. We have talked about detoxing with veggies and herbs a couple of pages ago. I use Calcium D Glucarate and NAC to cleanse my liver. Milk thistle is another good one. It's gluthathione for  the liver. Also, as I mentioned before, I juice veggies daily and do 3-10 day juice feasts on occasion to cleanse my whole body. I just started doing coffee enemas, which works well with juicing. See Biological Basis for Coffee Enemas www.treating-cancer-alternatively.com/Coffee-enemas.html

Fruit Pectin Chelates Heavy Metals and Facilitates Drug Detox

"....Pectin is a substance found naturally in many fruits whose properties make it excellent for use for making jellies. Pectin also has the ability to pull heavy metals and other contaminants from the blood stream through a process called chelation. These contaminants are excreted through normal urination.

Pectin is found in the rinds of many fruits and vegetables. Excellent sources of pectin are bananas, apples, cabbage, okra, beets, grapes, carrots and all citrus fruit in the white part called the pith....For a deeper and more controlled detox, find pectin at the grocery store in the canning section. Pectin made especially for chelating heavy metals and drugs is available at health food stores in powdered form. Check labels to make sure the pectin is free of MSG.

...To use pectin, mix 2-4 teaspoons of dry pectin to an 8 oz. glass of grape juice once a day. Start with a lower dose of pectin until the body gets used to it and increase the amount slowly. Continue taking pectin for a period from 2 weeks to 6 months to complete a drug detox or when chelating heavy metals. Indicators for completing the detox period are a reduction in symptoms. Although there is no such thing as a symptom-free detoxification during chelation therapy, if pectin is taken in small quantities over a period of time, overall health will return as energy increases...."

Wow, you ladies have to slow down so I can catch up, lol.  There is so much great info being posted here.

Princess, they gave me a supply of supplements and suggest a diet which is basically whole foods, lots of vegetables, low sugar fruits, no sugar or white stuff, no grains.  Grass fed, free range meats (or wild caught fish) are allowed but should be kept to a minimum.  Juicing is encouraged, as well as daily coffee enemas and lots of alkaline water.

FLW, I have a water ionizer.  It has different settings up to 10 on the pH scale so that's where my water comes from.  It is one of the more expensive items I have invested in for my health.

A water ionizer is a little on the pricey side. But alkaline water is one of the better options out there.  It hydrates cells and it helps dissolve waste and will balance the body's pH levels. It's an investment. I use to spend lots of  $$ on clothes and shoes. Now, I spend money on my health. But if water ionizer is not  in your budget, drink the best water you can afford. Tap water has too many chemicals and it's generally "slightly" acidic. Each time we drink tap water or take a shower or a bath in it, we are either swallowing or absorbing trace amounts of pharmaceutical drugs that we were never given a prescription for.

The alkaline level of the body is not just influenced by food and water, our emotions and thoughts  play a big role too .  Love and hope-filled joyful emotions tend to create alkaline-forming chemical reactions in the body. On the other hand, negative emotions and thoughts which are overflowing with anger, anxiety, depression, fear, jealousy, cruelty, judgment, feelings of helplessness etc. ... create an acidic-forming chemical reaction in the body. Most medical doctors believe that there is no connection between acidic negative emotions and cancer. However, it has been proven that negative emotional experiences and mental stress weakens our immune system. The negative emotions are pretty toxic for the body and for its anti-cancer defense system. It means that the body loses its power to fight against cancerous cells. Pharmaceutical drugs, like street drugs, may give you the illusion of feeling better, but they do not actually deal with the metabolic acids from negative acidic emotions, they just turn you into a junky and you never really get well. There are more productive natural ways to deal with your inner demons.

princess123:  Completely agree!  We have so many friends who are addicted to anti anxiety and sleeping pills.  The SE's are terrible, and when combined with alcohol, can be deadly.  They sometimes go into fits of rage and can't control themselves.  One couple we know ended their marriage over domestic violence issues...so sad...yet they keep taking the medications.  Sometimes when you're talking to them you can tell their minds have just wandered off into space and they aren't hearing a word that you're saying...almost like zombies.

I love our new alkaline diet...we feel so much better.  I did an entire Thanksgiving dinner...cooked, cleaned, played with two young grandchildren in between, and still had energy left over at the end of the day.  Of course, I didn't feel too good the next day because we went off our diet in order to enjoy the goodies!  That put things in perspective.

BUDWIG PROTOCOL:  The Budwig FOCC diet requires you to eat 3 tbsp. of flaxseed oil daily with 6 tbsp. of low fat cottage cheese. Mix the flaxseed oil with the cottage cheese in a blender. If the resulting mixture seems to thick to drink, add 3 tbsp. of low fat milk. Once you have thoroughly mixed the ingredients, add 2 tbsp. of freshly ground flaxseeds to the mixture. Additionally, you can add cinnamon, fresh lemon juice and a variety of nuts.

Budwig states that there is science behind the combination of these foods. Pre-cancer and cancer cells contain low amounts of oil, and the presence of oil promotes oxygen respiration in the cells instead of fermentation. This creates a toxic environment for cancer. However, your body typically has a difficult time absorbing flaxseed and other beneficial oils. According to Budwig, by combining cottage cheese with flaxseed, the flaxseed becomes water soluble, enabling your bloodstream to transport the fatty oils.

Apparently, there's a group on yahoo FlaxSeedOil2. The moderator has videos, showing the recipes  http://www.budwig-videos.com/

    Kaara,

The FOCC is just one aspect of the Budwig protocol.  Dr. Budwig laid out a pretty extensive plan for cancer treatment, part of which was the whole flaxseed oil/cottage cheese regimen.  It also includes laying in the sun for 45 minutes a day, NO supplements, etc.

princess123, thanks for spelling out the entire Budwig protocol.

My sister was diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian cancer in January, 2008, when she was 58. They cut it out, with clear margins, but wanted her to do chemo. She refused, Instead, she went on the Budwig full time is doing it to this day. And she is alive and doing very well.

My two cancers were so much less than her Stage 3 ovarian cancer. So, I just went on the FOCC, the Flax Seed Oil and Cottage Cheese. As sweetbean said, just one aspect of Budwig.

Yet I can not emphasize, enough, how BIG of a difference that is. The FOCC.  For me, it was literally night and day. Before I did not feel good; after, I feel GREAT. I feel great, now.

I still have stress, in my life; we all do. Yet I react totally differently, now. It just rolls off. Like, all of the attacks I've endured on this board; so what.  I just feel good.

And I know it is because the FOCC is nourishing my body. Just read Budwig's books, you'll get the science behind it. And it IS science.  And why my Thermogram, September, 2011, totally negative. As was the rest of my body.

But cancer, aside, I'm doing the FOCC for the rest of my life because I just feel .... GREAT. Doing it. I will never do anything, else.

Hi all you newcomers! It is good to see the word is spreading about holistic alternatives. I have not had time to read this whole thread, just the past few pages and wanted to chime in to the detox discoussion.

Detoxing is a key element to regaining our health. We ended up with cancer because our bodies were toxic. Then we added more toxins with treatments. Thus is it essential to get the toxins out.

As noted, juicing is a great way to detoxify and heal the digestion system. Since our health begins with digestion, this is essential. Adding fruit pectin is a great way to help draw out the toxic heavy metals. Milk Thistle is great for the liver. I would also like to bring up the topic of rebounding and far infrared saunas. Rebounding is the best way to move the lymph, which is a conduit for dumping toxins out of us. And nothing beats sitting in a far infrared sauna and sweating out toxins.

In addition, adding the iodine protocol has made a profound difference in my breast health. Check out the iodine thread for lots of info. No need to start it all over again.

Detoxing is safest if done slowly, one step at a time. As toxins are released from our fatty tissues, where they are stored, they can cause uncomforatable reactions. I had headaches, lithargy and itching. Making sure the liver is supported with specific supplements, and a very pure diet is essential to detoxing. No alcohol, sugar, gluten, etc. But  I am preaching to the choir here about diet. Once the toxins are out, then it is possible to lose weight by continuing ot make healthy diet choices. One can do what is called "salt loading" when you feel the onset of detox symptoms. Basically, you drink a glass of room temp water with a half teaspoon of sea salt. Yes, this will scare those who have been told salt is dangerous, but it really works. I now salt load whenever I get a headache or feel bloated and it works! Read Dr. Brownsteins book, Salt Your Way To Health, for more info.

If anyone wants more info about the rebounder or sauna I use, you can pm me. I do not sell them, but I can tell you how to get a discount.
