Hi Shokk .. we're struggling today with the news of Nicki's rapid decline.  It doesn't sound good and has rocked us all to the core.

I hope the Chaplain finds you and is a comfort to you right now.

    love,

    Bren

So sorry to hear this Cry  It has been hard to keep up with her since she isn't posting on FB anymore and I had so hoped she was still doing reasonably well.  Cr*p ... this sucks.

Blue - gorgeous picture - you are right to be proud.

E - so glad you enjoyed your trip.

Last call to jump on the safari bus and get into my pocket. My surgery is tomorrow at Johns Hopkins - 11:30 am ET. Only an hour or so under the knife, andf I hope this endometrial ablation works against my horrendous periods. If it doesn't work (as happens in about 20 percent of cases) more drastic measures will have to be taken and I will gladly submit to them.

Athena ... your lucky rabbit's foot will be there (along with the rest of the rabbit).  Thank you for not making an early morning appointment by the way :)  And maybe my favorite mantra for these things will be helpful tonight ... i.e., "This time tomorrow it will be all done"

Athena -- I'm in the bag, and hope this procedure is the fix that's needed!

Blue -- you and your daughters are truly gorgeous (and those beautiful dresses are the icing on the cake!).

Mary -- that picture of you and your hubby is SO cute (sorry I'm days late)!

I can't even find words about Nicki --

Did I hear the S-Word????? We've had some heavy frost but not the white stuff yet! My vehicle gives me that little message in the morning............icy conditions possible...........love the heads up..lol

Otter, you know I luv ya! You were my rock in those early days here, take a break if you need to but hope you pop in where you are most needed.

Lewing......march on! I have been watching with keen interest!

Yay for goodnews and hope the grumpies go into hybernation. Really! Our weekend ended with a BANG!!! Literally! Hit a huge buck while we were still two hours from home, or I should say, the dam thing hit us! I freaked! Did not even catch a glimpse of that sucker, came out of nowhere. Mind was racing.......what the heck are we going to do now?? Thankgod for On-Star, they sent an officer out to no-mans land for us who was able to pry the bumper away from the tire. He was a godsend! Fortunatly we were able to drive the vehicle the other 2 hours home. DH grumpy as it was brandnew and now have to deal with insurance but, thankgod we were okay and so were our 2 furkids riding in the back.

I had an endometrial ablation some years ago.  It really worked for me, hope it does for you also.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Athena - hope all is BORING and fixes everything.  I think, if it's what we used to call a D&C, it's usually very effective.  squooshed sunflower in your pocket ;)

I'm there too Atherna.   I had one of those done years ago and it helped for a few years.

Crazydaisy, I'm glad you and family are OK.  Cars can be fixed.

Thank you ladies for the compliments.  Of course, I don't look like that anymore, but my daughters are even more beautiful!

Blue----you Do look just just like that, just dressed a little more casually. Your DDs are as beautiful as you and Im sure their spirits are as special as yours.!  I was wondering if Chemosabi & Nicki are the same person, Ive read some of Chemos posts and found her a wonderful soul. My Prayers are with her and all her friends. She will be welcomed into her future for the loving and caring person she is.      kad2kar

I'm thinking of "Chemosabi" too - I remember being so inspired by her posts years ago.  What a Spirit.

Does anyone know Sharon (Lowrider) - she hasn't been heard from in a while, in MN, having a difficult time. Someone has started a thread "asking" about her - but thought I'd post here too in case anyone knows.  She was the HERO who started our Arimidex SE thread more than a year ago, now she's 3N.

Getting more and more and more painful to log on: know all know what I mean.  So, so many wonderful women I miss, sometimes forget, and "look" to see how someone is doing, then I remember.

Craisydaisy ... so glad you are okay.  I live in deer country too and I'm always freaked I will hit one of those crazy things.  They just stand in the road and stare at you.  I have a family of them that cross my road every night at the same time to come eat my pears.  The neighbors want to hunt on my property and I won't allow it.  Don't need a bunch of arrows and bullets flying around!

Blue .. you and your daughters look so beautiful.  Hardly recognized you without all your curls!

Athena .. thinking of you today and squeezing into your pocketbook with all the others.  Hope there are some donuts and coffee left.

Kad2kar ... Nicki and Chemosabi are one and the same.  Nicki has been around for a long time.  Saw a note from her husband today that she is falling into a coma.  I think the end is near and my heart is breaking for her and her family.  Her husband did say that he brought her dog Mister to see her the other day in hospice.  I hope Mister brought her some joy and comfort.  It's so hard to lose Nicki, as we have communicated almost daily for the past 4 1/2 years.

Hoping everyone has a good day today ... the sun is shining and the temps will hit the low 60's today!

    hugs,

    Bren

    Bren,

I lived in the country growing up.  We weren't allowed outside during hunting season because of all the ammo flying.  My Dad would only let people who were out of work and needed food to hunt on our property.

Blue & Bren, my thoughts are with you and your loved Chemosabi. I do not know her, but like many have benefited from her posts. My prayers are with her and her family and friends.

Sunflowers, I have been concerned about Lowrider also. Will be glad to know how she is doing. She posted on the Cure for Stupid thread awhile ago; but I haven't seen anything else, which means nothing.

I know what you mean about painful - I have been thinking how much courage it takes to make true friends through this medium when we have already been winnowed and sifted more than once, so that we share a commonality.  It does take courage to care here.

On a different note about deer, glad you are ok Daisy, and it's very interesting to hear how the modernity is what saved your bacon when you were stuck in the middle of nowhere... I once hit two - first one, then her friend, one after another. Glad I was driving an old sturdy Volvo wagon.  Hunters who'd had no success that day came along, dispatched the first deer, and pulled out my fender so I could drive home.  If I'd'a gone the other direction it was a long way down-canyon///

Then, when we lived in the wayback woods, we used to put bright bandannas on all our livestock & dogs during hunting season.  One rancher painted "COW" on his cattle...

Wishing you all a day of peace and comfort.

Well, I looked out the window and saw all the beautiful colors of the leaves, and decided not to be grumpy anymore.  At least not this week, I hope.

I am sad, though.  Nicki (Chemosabi, a.k.a. "Palaminoridesagain") was such a colorful character on these Boards.  I read the blog she kept elsewhere when things got prickly here, and my heart ached when she learned she had mets.  We never met in-person or spoke directly (which, unfortunately, is true for a lot of the dear women I've become acquainted with through BCO), but I felt as if I knew her anyway.  I hope she is at that point where she is calm, comfortable, and pain-free; and is surrounded by loved ones.

Sheesh, crazydaisy -- hit-by-deer!  We have a high deer population here, but they aren't as big as yours so the impact isn't quite as impressive (for the car, anyway).  I've been lucky so far -- I've never hit a deer, but deer nearly ran into the side of my car (driver's-side door) twice.  The first time, I was driving to work and 3 deer came blasting out of the woods onto the road.  I slowed to a crawl and missed the first 2 easily; it was the straggler who almost broadsided me. The second time was as I was driving down a residential street in the suburbs of a midwestern town.  No harm, no foul I guess.

Blue, those are gorgeous pics of gorgeous women!  I don't think you've changed as much as you think you have (based on the other pics you've shown us).  It's all in how you feel, anyway... right?

Athena, it's 12:45 EDT, so you ought to be in recovery by now, or maybe even beyond that.  Is this an outpatient procedure, or do they keep you around for awhile? (I should know that, since I'm hiding in your "patient's belongings" bag.)  I hope this procedure solves the problem for you.  Menopause finally solved mine!

It's time for lunch at the otter-house.  This afternoon we are either going to go truck shopping (again), or I am going to play outside (a.k.a. rake leaves on the other half of the lawn, while the half I raked yesterday fills up with new leaves).  I also have a 4-qt ice cream pail filled with huge, new acorns.  I'm not inclined to feed them to the squirrels (they already have enough), so I'm thinking I might plant them somewhere to see how many little white oak trees I get.

    Hugs to everyone...

Otter .. I can't believe you're going to plant more oak trees!  Maybe because we have so many and they are driving me crazy ... I'm ready to take them all out!!  Of course I can't because the only "higher power" I have anymore is the big oak out back .. then where would I be.

It's at these hard times when I wish I could pray and get some relief from that.  Going to stick to raking acorns and leaves as that does help.

Nicki is fast approaching a coma state .. I hope she is at peace.

My best friend found out today that she has to have another CT scan Friday of her abdomen and pelvic region.  The scan last Friday was of her thoracic region and that's were the spots were found .. on the sternum and T-spine.  Her doctor thinks it's cancer, so he wants to check the other areas and see if there are more spots.  The bone biopsy will come after the scan this Friday.  I am heartbroken.  I am physically ill with this news.  I just can't stand it.

I think about that book .. something called "When bad things happen to good people," and it makes me want to barf.  I didn't read the book ... just hate the title.

I better go find something else to do.  I wish I had a pill for my nerves today.

    love and hugs,

    Bren

Bren, it is actually a great book. It's written byb a rabbi. Their son was born with a disease that causes rapid aging (can't think of the name of the disease at the moment). He wrote the book after getting the usual "''God doesn't give y our more..." responses, realizing that he had been doing it for years. It changed the way he dealt with people in crisis. It's required reading for the students in our Lay Chaplain classes.

Athena, I snuck in when nobody was looking.  I'm next to Otter and trying to protect Sunflowers from getting smooshed.  Otter is nice and cuddly.  (Hi, Otter!)

I have been reading about Nicki and I am so sorry.  I exchanged a few PMs with her but didn't know her well.  I know she is loved and cherished by many women here.  I hope for a peaceful and painfree journey for her, and peace and healing for those who love her.  ((((((Nicki's loved ones))))))

Hugs to all -- and extras to those who need them most.

Chaplain .. thanks for the heads up about the book.  I guess I'm just angry right now.  But if it will help me, I'll read it.

    love,

    Bren
