Oh wow, what's with this weather?  Otter, frost in Alabama already?  Heck, it hasn't got below 40 in Niagara.  Guess we live in the banana belt...but where are the banana trees?  Should have brought back a couple from Bermuda!

Just watched a documentary on Gadhafi.  I've changed my earlier opinion -- not just a crazy lout, but a truly evil psychopath, devoid of any human compassion or sense of morality.  Perhaps better compared to Adolph Hitler.

Susie, we're fortunate to have strong banking regulations in Canada too and all remained solvent.  There is much to be said in favour of regulatory oversight -- financial, environmental, judicial.

I note that it is now October 22, thus the Rev. Camping's prediction for the end of the world on October 21 is.....again.....wrong.  Whew!

Susie -- WOW!  Even $6 a kilo is outrageous!  Some of our markets charge 49 cents a pound.  Aren't there any areas in Aussieland that have the climate to grow bananas?

Kad -- a "fat fluff"?  What a delightful expression! Gotta remember the l and the double f in that one!

susie: Interesting to read about your banking situation. Most countries are more regulated than we are. In fact, lax regulation and profligate lending are directly associated with the level of  crisis in each country. It is no coincidence that the US and the heavily leveraged Iceland were amongst the most affected, and that countries very hard hit by a US-like housing bubble (Ireland, Greece and to a lesser extent Spain) are feeling the pinch.

Oh, 'morning Barbara - may I please take one of BCOs lighter skillets and playfully bang you over the head with it? 125 lbs a problem?? Believe me, I'm a woman too, I am (proudly) vain too but this is NOT a problem! Men like women with some meat on them, remember. It's those damned dresses that are to blame, not your figure.

HL - can you order the Meanawy in bulk, tho I don't know what they're saying, seems they just can't stay away.  Maybe it's our politics they secretly envy.  Oh, Blue, you have patience enough for all of us.  Guess we should be grateful little horses aren't trampling us anymore.

Pickle - didn't remember you were in Canada when I suggested WF, and TJ's - I'll try to find a place on the website that has a list of all those gluten free products.  Really does make a difference. Tho' I've heard from friends on Aromasin, that they are having more problems than on Arimidex, and probably switching back.  Know it's a different approach than Arimidex/Femera, but can't remember the difference.  

OTTER - Frost in Alabama?  Really.  We had a slight one a few weeks ago, probably ok for another week ( western MA) - but darn it is so , so , so wet, eveything is moldy.

Moths found their way into a suitcase I had filled with my favorite old ( from London) shawls, blankets, wrecked HAVOC.  Had to throw so much away.  Had it "sealed" and filled with cedar chips, lavendar from Container Store.  May be able to salvage pieces of one blanket to make some winter hats, but SO SAD.  Can't use mothballs, the smell is so toxic.  What do others use to keep moths away??

Susie - bananas are $1.39 for 4 lbs. at local Costco.  About to slice them, and lots of apples, to try that dehydrator I bought last week.  Also have a "mandolin" - plan to use my heaviest garden gloves & hope it isn't as scary as it looks

Morning girls!!! Up early because Miss Poppy decided she wanted to go out and was tearing around upstairs on the wooden floor and scratching the carpet in our room. Good way to get the message out

Our price is $2.70 per lb - crikey. Australia does not import bananas, so that's why we are at the mercy of the local growers. You can't tell me it would take 11 months for the plantations to recover - especially in a tropical climate. I personally like the ones I get from the markets - they are grown only half an hour north of here. They are only small producers though.

Barb - you are skinny according to my conversion to kilos!!! Just buy new dresses - hey why are you wearing dresses for a cruise - shorts would be better. I never wear dresses anymore.

That's why I don't wear them anymore Actually while we were away, DH asked me why I don't wear skirts at all. I did have a couple of lovely summer skirts I wore to work but since I lost some weight from the bc thing they are too big - I should try and take them in - I did like them.

Meanaway, not to be confused with menaway, which is a totally different product, comes in spray cans  pellets and 5 gallon drums depending on the amount and location of meanness. What do we need, a couple of drums, or would pellets do?

That is gorgeous - I am amazed at how the light plays off the trees too. Was it Noon when you took the picture? I had never seen such a shadowless effect caught so well on camera. 

Just did a google on MRI and whether it picks up cancer in the lymph nodes - apparently it can. So, nothing was reported on my MRI or US. I'll still go ahead with the US this week just to be sure. Also looked up thyroid cancer and over 95% of goitres are benign - so here's hoping on that one too.

susieq58,  what a beautiful tree. I didn't know the Jacaranda tress bloomed at this time of the year. I learned the MRI can pick up lymph nodes from mine last year. Susie here's to no nodes.

It is so beautiful today. My DH and I are going to a local part, and take a walk. I haven't really waled except on the treadmill since all this stuff began. So looking forward to this fall and winter season.

Had my GS birthday at chucky cheese yesterday. Boy I hate that place, way to noisy for me.
