Well, Sunflowers and Pickle, the discussion of AI side effects is timely for me, as I look to be headed in that direction as well. I've been on tamoxifen for three years now, and my onc wants me to switch to an AI for the next two. (I was premenopausal at time of dx, but definitely menopausal now . . . though they're doing one more check of my hormone levels and will keep monitoring them after the switch.) I'll have a bone density scan first, but my last one, which was fairly recent, was totally normal and I don't expect that to have changed. Tamoxifen has been easy for me, so I was initially VERY unhappy with the suggested change, but after thinking it over (and getting great advice and support), I'm prepared to give it a try.
It will be interesting to see if my tiredness and mental fuzziness lessen once I get off tamoxifen; right now I attribute them mainly to being tired and mentally fuzzy, not to the drug.
So, anyhow, I've been reading up on the arimidex side effect thread, and will soon be posting over there.
Sue, hope your enlarged lymph node is a whole lot of nothing - though it sure does suck to have to even think about this crap. Sandy, sorry about your heart issues. I hope they're totally manageable - please let us know what the cardiologist says. And Viv . . . WTF happenend with the agency vehicles??? Sounds like there's a story there!
(I have a hard time looking "over there," as the blinking/dancing emoticons make me dizzy and the vile hate makes ME want to barf.)

Thanks Lewing - I'm holding on to the fact that they would have reported any abnormailities when they did the US. They are a very specialised breast clinic - the best in our city.
I'm going to finish off this month's supply of Arimidex and then try Aromasin for 3 months. I can always go back to Arimidex if I don't feel more energetic. It seems some do better on Aromasin and others don't, so the only way to find out is to try it.

But, but, but, they are NEEDED. That's why they have so many guests reading, except when they are shooing ALL the guests away. So is it us reading over there or is it the people that NEED them. Oh the irony!
Sandy, hoping your heart issues will be resolved.
Susie, I'm sure if there was a problem, the center would have noted it.
We are going to the Rose Theatre tonight. I'm not too crazy about going out on a week night and leaving my babies alone when it gets dark.
-
Sandy - CRAP crap crap on a sandwich! Hopefully you'll get some answers and help from a cardiologist. Please keep us posted.
SusieQsie - Hope the good news continues with your goitre. And good luck on the Aromasin - Femara kicked my butt and Arimidex continues to do the same. Hopefully Aromasin will work well for you!
Blue - Seems odd that their 'popularity' doesn't translate into new registrants and posters. Ah well, we all need our fantasies. Mine is that I become a healthy vampire goalie and play for the Capitals. I don't need to create a website about it, though. ;-)
-
E, I wouldn't mind a little bit of Eric. Yup, I made up my mind......he's the ONE!

-
Wow, that's a big one! Can I resize it?
ETA - never mind, figured it out.
-
Mmmmmm vampires. Now gluten-free!
-
Very funny how quickly they take the bait
-
Oh, ratz - I'm curious, but not curious enuf to warrant a visit to the 'zoo' - must be feeding time over there? Still sure they save the really gritty goo for blithering in the "pod" - remember Aliens?
Sandy - are you in Burlington VT? Think we're getting the same weather you are, RAIN - when the sun came out this afternoon, it seemed strange! Sorry to hear aboutyour problems- hope it's resolved quickly.
Lewing - wish I could say something "nice" about Arimidex - will try to think of something, other than of course the fact that it seems to be keeping The Beast at bay! Ah, tiredness, fuzzy thinking - well, AstraZeneca ( the brand name company) listed the first SE as ASTHENIA ( per another member of the A Team, it's Greek for "feeing like crap.") Just about covers it. I was thinking of trying Aromasin, and looked up the SE's for it - YUCK! Worse than Arimidex. I was told Arimidex is the most "easily" tolerated of the AI's when I started ( 500 years ago) - ok, it was almost 5, but feels longer.
My docs at Dana Farber seem to be pretty keen on a few years on Tamox and then an AI. Don't know if that "theory" has changed - this was about 5 years ago. I opted OUT of Tamoxifen cuz I take an SSRI antidepressant, and wasn't willing to change after all the FUSS (really an OH, BOTHER) it took to find the right one.

At this very moment in time, Over There has 666 posts. Hmmmm.........isn't that the mark of Satan? (said in Church Lady voice).

LOL Mary

Definitely feeding time at the zoo - they loved the bait.

There's pink everywhere in Brisbane today - Banners on the buildings and women selling pink flowers, teddy bears etc. I wouldn't mind a teddy though
Maybe my baker will have pink buns tomorrow. -
Actually it's 665, BUT 666 upside down is 999. Just saying... lol
Have a nice evening!

-
Ah Laura so nice to see you "dropping by" again.
Sunflowers I live in Burlington, Ontario not Vt. although I've been to Vt. many, many times - I grew up in Montreal and Vt. is a favourite place to visit from there.
-
I guess I'm out of the loop. How do you know someone is 'Lurking" guys?
-
They're always lurking....

Hey - I forgot to tell you - outside my building are "occupiers" - protesting about corporate greed but using Apple laptops. Looks like a new tent was added over night. The police were issuing some of them with fines yesterday - not sure what for. They have been stealing electricity from the food court under the square where they are camped. The funny side is that there wouldn't be more than a dozen or so.
-
Sheesh, the occupiers grind my gullet.

-
Barb - love it - should print it out and go and hand them out to them

-
Well, I participated in the first day of "Occupy Detroit" last week and will be going back tomorrow. It was a very diverse crowd: plenty of young people (some - not all - pierced and tattooed), veterans, middle-aged teachers and autoworkers, pastors, Muslim women in headscarves, neighborhood leaders, retirees . . . even some Ron Paul supporters. I found some of the signs weird (what is this obsession with the Federal Reserve all about?), but overall, the message was about the growth of inequality and the devastation caused by irresponsible and unaccountable financial institutions. I thought it was great. One thing is for sure: there has been more serious public discussion of inequality over the last month than in the last decade! Not bad for a bunch of ragtag kids camping out in Lower Manhattan.

And it's only Thursday... How did we get onto politics?
The flower girl dress is made, a cake for the rehearsal dinner was just delivered by a friend (and it puts my brownies to shame),and the house is almost clean -just give me an hour or two in the morning. I still need to clean out the fridge so party food will fit and get the stuff I forgot at the store yesterday and then we're all set for the wedding.
I am excited. My DH will perform the ceremony and then baptize Miss Daisy. (It is her parents who are getting married).

Hi all! Back from a vacay in Bermuda where it was sunny, very warm and sometimes a bit too humid, but much preferable to 9 straight days of dreary rainy weather here! Lots to catch up on here. I'm working on it!
-
Lewing - good for you going to Occupier demo in Detroit - I agree with their cause - I'd like to see a banker or two and maybe a brokerage VP or two or three behind bars for the mess they've caused - oh yes, let's not forget the mortgage companies' leaders as well - our mortgage had been with one company in SC for 12 years - we refinanced and our new mortgage was "sold" 8 times in two years - interesting isn't it? Also when we were refinancing we were told we didn't need to "prove our income" yikes! That was back in 2006 - I knew then something bad was afoot didn't know just how crooked the whole system had become - I must say I am glad I'm not in my 40s right now - so many unemployed and for a very long time - probably will never work again - they're losing their houses, their futures, everything - these are not lazy, pot smoking, hippies demonstrating these are your neighbours(ors) - let's have a little compassion people.
-
Just got back from the Rose Theatre....Ron Sexsmith. He was great!
Gave a good night!
-
Busker Tim was there today, but I was having lunch with an old colleague. Not to worry - I went and listened to a few songs before coming back to work.
There was some official looking dude talking to the protestors - maybe they are about to be moved. Saw a few leaving with mattresses. In the case of these ones - they are pot smoking hippies.

I'm all for discussion and diversity. No problem for me. Fact is, no fat cat Wall Street banker is going to get prosecuted while Mr Obama is in office. He owes them too much money.
Anyway, hope everyone has a great Friday. And yes, I am VERY happy it is Friday. Hate my job. 8 days until cruise. The dresses are a no go. I starved myself for 8 days. No carbs at all. And lost 2 pounds. Crappity crap. I will go cruising fat.
-
Barbara, you are NOT fat. The dresses must have shrunk. Just think of it as an excuse to buy new clothes!
L
-
Barbara you are not fat. I agree with lewing a great reason to buy new clothes!
I am so glad it's Friday. Hoping I will find out about the bone scan today. It's been 8 days. I for the life of me can't imagine why it takes so long to get results.
My DH's surgery site is looking great. I sure wish mine looked as good as his.
-
Thanks, gals, but you haven't seen me lately. Up to 125. Kira, so glad DH is doing better! I have everything crossed for your bone scan!!
Everyone send some good vibes my way next Thursday. It is my 1-1/2 year bad boob mammo. Ugh. At lease I have a cruise to distract me. We leave a week from Sunday. Woo Hoo!
