Marial Yes, our hair has a similar texture but yours is a lot longer than mine. Was yours really fuzzy all over before the curls started on top? The back of mine has just started to get enough length to show curls. I agree-sometimes it seems like mine isn't getting longer but I think it's because it's curling up and that makes it seem shorter than it really is...

marial -  wow, your hair looks great!!  Mine also came back a different texture.  Feels like a very soft poodle. I'm not complaining.  Any hair is good!

How crazy is this?  I had curly hair and mine is still coming in straight?  I'm 14 weeks PFC today and it's about 1 inch long and flat on my head.  It just looks too bad to go topless.  1/4" inch per month is just soooooo discouraging!

dragonfly, where did you learn that our hair only grows a 1/4" per month after chemo?  That is depressing news, I was banking on a 1/2" per month.  I really don't want to go on a vacation of a lifetime with a buzz!  Hubby doesn't understand and 6 months is cheaper or we wait a full year.

Mccrimmon - I wouldn't be so sure about hair growing just 1/4" a month after chemo.  Mine has grown more than that in the last two weeks.  I think you should reflect back on your previous hair growth patterns.  I suspect that if your hair grew fast before, it will probably grow in a similar fashion unless something else is impacting it - like radiation damaging your thyroid.  Like anything else, we are all going to be different.

And I am going to Florida next week with no intention of taking my wig with me.  I will bring a cap to have when we go into an air-conditioned restaurant.  But I am sitting on the beach "au naturel" and I'm not going to worry about it.  I've pretty much stopped wearing it already and surprisingly, no one has fainted or stared (at least that I've noticed).  i wear something like pink ribbon earrings or a pink bracelet, something that gives a clue to why I might be lacking hair.  I get a few smiles and hugs every now and then.  This is my tribute to breast cancer awareness month.  And I think my DH is getting used to it.

mccrimmon324 -  1/4" to 1/2" is probably moreso true if you're on Herceptin, which I see you are not.  They do say that causes slower hair growth. I'm on Herceptin, am almost 9 months out, and have about 3 - 3 1/2".

I've had a problem with my eyelashes. They have shed a few times, and now they came back very short. I try to put mascara on, but it gets all over my lid.  Thank goodness for eyeliner!

ps.... I think everyone looks great....:0)

I'm 5 weeks PFC and have a fine growth of soft fuzz about 1/4" long all over my head. Some longer (1") fine silver hairs sticking out, too! Blech! But hey, it's hair! Mine is all silver or seems to be dark gray or brown...can't quite tell yet.My MO said I should have enough hair to go topless by Valentine's Day if not before! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...gonna be a chilly winter!!! Innocent

Still missing most of my eyebrows though. Watching for the 5 o'clock shadow, but nothing yet.

I can't decide whether I'm encouraged or discouraged by the hair growth reports! My final chemo is tomorrow. I never shaved my head, so I still have some fuzz, which I'm glad to have, I think it will make it look thicker as it starts to come in. Or maybe just really stupid and patchy, time will tell. I was really hoping give up my wig by Valentine's Day, or at least my annual vacation in April. I know I'm rushing things, it's not even done falling out yet, and I want it back NOW!

Mccrimmon My hairstylist told me that the hair growth is 1/4 inch/month rather than the usual 1/2 inch/month. I've also run across the same numbers when I was googling. It is true, however, that all of us have had different rates of hair growth so you can't be sure. At any rate, 6 months is a good time frame and you should have a reasonable amount of hair growth in that time. I just went on a trip of lifetime to Paris at 3 1/2 months PFC-didn't care at all about the wig or the fact that my hair was super short-a nice change of scenery makes it seem less significant:)

my hair only has slight curls on the ends,  I use a spray gel to encourage it to flip up for now.  have not had a cut yet

Love all the pics  as you can see some peoples hair grows faster than others,   I amhoping after the herceptin mine will start to grow faster, but when I look back it has really filled in.

Carberry, love your hair!  Michelle, I am 11 weeks PFC (and it actually started coming in on Taxotere) and it sounds like you have more hair than me!  No fair!  I am on Herceptin.  I thought my hair was going to come in, but it seems stuck where it is, but does seem to be getting a little thicker than it was.  My hair definitely used go grow a lot faster than this.

Kay - I was born with a headful of curls and my hair has always grown like grass in the springtime.  So I am probably going to be one of the lucky ones!  Last week it was mostly white, now I can see the "pepper" coming in.  I had said I wouldn't color it but I'm already wavering on that decision!

Carrie - love that look on you!

I am loving all the pics, you guys look wonderful. If I can ever figure out how to post pics I will-going to get my ex-husband to show me, he's the computer nerd.

Almost have about 1/4 inch but hard to tell, back and sides pretty straight but very busy and wavy ontop-how weird is that. Was born with a head full of wavy that turned really curly hair so who knows what it's going to do. Just glad to put my hand up on my head and feel something other than skin-yeah.

By the way, love love love those little shavers, Have used them for years to get stray hairs here and there and they never have come back darker or coarser. Couldn't live without it, especially now that I was dumped into menapause with the ooph 2 wks ago and am already seeing the fuzz on the side of my face-got to love being a girl.

LuvRVing, Thank you, my hair did grow pretty fast before treatment.  What part of Florida are you coming too?  Great time of year of a visit.

    Dragonfly,

We are planning our trip to Paris.

Hey MamaV!  I was also surprised when my former curly hair laid flat against my head!  I thought that it would grow back straight!  Did not happen.  That flat hair turned into the curliest hair ever.  It was insanely tight and grew outward!  It did go back to my normal hair eventually!  I am 4 years out now, and my hair is gorgeous!

    good luck!

MarthaH, I'm currently losing my right eyebrow quicker than my left.  I sure hope they grow back in quickly along with my eyelashes which don't look too bad yet.

Mc, I only lost some of my eyelashes, so I've been fortunate there. They seem to be coming back in a bit, although kind of clumpy.

I've been obsessing over my eyebrows, which is absurd, I know, but I guess if I have to obsess about something, I'd rather it be something innocuous like eyebrows rather than my absent tumor and little cancer cells! Wink

marthah, I agree with you.  I seem to be obsessing about my hair or lack of even though I'm not 3 weeks out from my last treatment.  I just want to see it start so I know its gonna come back.

I think the dreams must be pretty common. I dreamed everynight for two weeks about having hair then would wake up so disappointed to find my still bald head-was around PFC 2-3wks. Am now 9wks PFC and have a nice head covering, although still can see scalp.

Hi ladies, i am new to this site, I am 5 months PFC,  I am also a hairstylist, I have been using the tape or seamless hair extensions, they are new and are not damaging to your hair, my husband also puts them in for me. you can purchase them online and watch you tube videos on how to apply them. They are quick and easy and can last in your hair for up to 6 months. They wont look that great until the hair on top is long enough to hide them but I just wear a hat and it looks like my normal hair

     Hope this helps

Mccrimmon - we are going to DelRay Beach, near West Palm.

Saw the RO today - my TEs have to be removed before radiation because the left one sits right on top of my heart and he wants to use an angle that will protect the heart and lungs.  Ugh, it's always something.  Looks like surgery in early November.

Mccrimmon You'll LOVE Paris! It's absolutely beautiful-that was our celebration trip after I completed chemo/Rads. Don't worry a bit about your hair-no one ever looked twice at me in Paris-I think it's rather in vogue to have short funky hair in Paris:)
