    pejkug3** Congrats to you!!

It seems like forever till I will be able to trash the wig.  My hair is growing very slowly.  The back of my head is growing thick while the front and sides seem to be fine and thin. Is this normal??

PSU, I am the same.  My daughter told me to use volumizing shampoo.  LOL  My hair isn't even half an inch long.

kay1963,  I have about the same length as you.  I have been using Nioxin and prayers!!  It looks as though we started at the same time.

Yes, but I had neoadjuvant chemo, so I may have finished first.  I finished chemo at the end of July.  I am on Herceptin which may be slowing growth.  Doing rads now,so don't want to do anything but prayers for now.

My husband said yesterday that I could keep my head covered and look like I am fighting cancer, or I could go topless and look like I kicked cancer's ass.

Tonight I went without a headcover to class. No one screaming for the hills!

I looked at pictures from the beginning of Sept. and there is a big difference!

I did neoadjuvant and am now on Herceptin and Tamox.  It took forever for my hair to grow in, but it finally did.  I totally had the male pattern baldness thing going to, but that filled in.  I am 6.5 months PFC.  I really should get a trim, but I am very attached to my hair.

Guys - Nioxin products have methylparaben in them - a new study out of a California hospital (forget which one) proved that methylparaben diluted the effects of breast cancer treatments - I think they named tamoxifen specifically. I for one have tossed everything in my cabinet that has any paraben in it.

Good thought MamaV.  Maybe those hairs were leftover from chemo and not new ones?  Not sure, but I really don't think you'll be losing your hair again.  I don't think that happens.

Thank you, sara1970!!!  I have been sounding the alarm since I read that study, but I feel like nobody is listening.  One person actually wrote, "You can't believe everything you read on the internet, " implying that I was a total moron who would believe anything.  Nevermind that it was a well-qualified study picked up by major news outlets.  Sheesh.  I hate to see us go through all of this treatment, only to reintroduce something to our bodies that leaves us at high-risk for recurrence.

Anyway,  John Masters has a hair growth serum and so does Jason.  Neither have parabens.

Sorry if I had offended anyone with anything I have said in the past.

I just refuse to let cancer control my life by reading every little label, not eating foods I enjoy and eating foods that I hate.

Sweetbean... training?? I wish... I had my bilat MX this past July with hip flaps, had a complication and had a DIEP flap August 23 and chemo all spring... so I am winging it... I actually did an alzheimr's walk this past weekend, 3 miles, and my plantar fascia was killing me.. so I got a shot yesterday... I will do what i can do. What is your team called? Mine is Team Agappi.

So.. hair.. mine is growing pretty well... Oddly I have had many people tell me they love my short hair... it is so curly... I have natural wave/curl, but this is over the top.... last cehmo was May 10, so its been 5 months... I have not used any special pills or shampoos... but I do use a john Frieda root wakening shampoo... just cause it makes me feel like I am doing something.

Hi ksmattews!  We are similair.  I don't read labels.  I eat healthily but I eat cake when I want to.  I also have a drink when I want to.  I've worked hard to be true to myself and express my opinions (as long as I'm not out to hurt someone or being cruel) and not worry about what other people think - my clever boyfriend says it's called "taking responsibility for your own feelings".  Whatever works for you or me or anyone else though.  Go girl.

KSMatthews, everyone needs to do what they think is right.  My docs only warn me against over doing things (and that's only when I push them).  I think you have to feel right about what you're doing.  For some, that is eliminating all things with paba in it, for others not.  I am doing things differently than I've done before, but I'm not going to go to as much extremes as some others because that is just too hard for me.  No need to apologize.  We can all co-exist with our different philosophies.  Lots of women here are using the Nioxin, you're not alone.

KsMatthews,  I have been using the Nioxin also.  I believe the amount of parabens is rather small.  In fact, I was reading the label on the facial exfoliator that I use, and one of the last ingredients is parabens!  If it is the last of many ingredients, the amount is negligible.

bdavis, we are the You Can Thrive team.  (You Can Thrive is a non-profit in NYC that provides free and low cost CAM therapies to breast cancer survivors.)  I have been training for months, but the most miles I have walked at once is 16.  So we will see how it goes.  I got new sneakers, so I am working on breaking them in.

It's totally cool that everyone has different philosophies and ways to get through this.  It makes me feel better to completely alter my diet and lifestyle choices, but for some, it would feel like cancer took over everything.  I get that.  But I had a BMX because, as I said to my sister, "I would rather cut off a perfectly healthy part of my body than put Mom & Dad through this again."   So for me, it's not a big stretch to read every label or drink a kale smoothie every day of my life, even if it isn't exactly tasty.

I spend a LOT of time reading studies and information and feel obliged to share what I read with the women on this site, because I want to help everybody.  Knowledge is power.

Now, I just have to figure out how to post a picture....

sweetbean how are you trying to post the picture? I find that if I click on the tree all I have to do is put the link in the fields. If the size doesn't automatically show up in the fields then your picture won't post. This could mean you don't have permissions to repost or a password is required.

Sweetbean - is your picture somewhere on the internet?  If it is, all you need to do is use the mouse copy and paste function...click inside your picture, then right click the mouse and select copy.  Then click inside the text box here, right click and select paste.  It will ask you a couple times if you want to allow the program to access your clipboard.  Just answer yes.

If your picture is on your pc's hard drive, you will need to upload it to a picture hosting site like Flickr, Picasaweb or Shutterfly.

Michelle, I'm so jealous!  I'm 2 weeks PFC but was on a different cocktail.  All I have is what never fell out.  I don't know how to post pics on here either.  I don't have any pics of bald me on the internet.
