Mimi and Meece welcome back - getting on the horse again burns calories!
Patoo, LOL Got the message..
-
well i am down according the the gym at the scale but up according to the oncologist's scale...i am going iwh the gym since i go there regularly and not annually!..( though my anual was trhee times that this year!)
-
I look forward to only going to my annual,,,annually. Life will never again hold just one annual physical. I am also feeling encouraged that I am not the only one who is struggling.
I had a dream a couple nights ago. In it, I was gaining so much weight because I was pregnant! I should correct myself, that wasn't a dream, it was a nightmare!

HIIIII EVERYBIRDIE!!!
SO,so so so so happy to see so many people checking in!!
NativeMainer, Sinus surgery?? Yuck, that can't be fun. Hope you do ok with that.
Ainm, How's the job going? I wish I had a job...need to seriously look, to help with DS's tuition.
Bookart, Hope the reception goes well for you today!
Patoo, I'm SO curious, did typing "gonna be down this week" (a jillion times) work? If so, I'm doing it next week! (especially since I'm up this week)
Renee, Great to see you surface! So apparently you are called "Mimi" as that is what "grandma" is? So cute! And when we have pizza (hard to get around with 3 teenagers) I only eat the topping (which works with my low carb diet).
O2B, Hang in there and you will see those numbers again. You can do it!
Deborye, glad to see you hanging in.
BCinCO, I sure hope that new job comes through for you. Stress can do terrible things to our health. Wish my DH would find a less stressful job, too. He almost quit last week....he's been with the same company for 32 years.
Sandee, I'd use the gym scale, too! It's consistent and down is always good! congrats!
Karen, I think you have to type "gonna be down this week" way more times than one for it to actually work, but I'm waiting to hear from Patoo if that is the case...LOL
Patmom, Down a full pound? That rocks, way to go!
Samsue, Great job on the water effort. I drank 4 1/2 yesterday and I'm wondering if that's why I'm up today? Probably not...grr.
Faithie, Wherever you are going, hope it's a great trip! And congrats on finishing a project...I've got more "projects" to finish than I can count. Most of them fall under the "chores I've blown off" category.
Meece!!!, SO glad to see you are still flying!! A dream you were pregnant? Yikes! Thank you so much for editing my (our) weights. Even though I'm up this week, I know I will catch up with that number soon.
Have a great weekend one and all

zogo--the sinus surgery isn't until Nov 28th, so I have time to get ready. Should be a piece of cake after reconstruction. . .
-
NM, you are so right. After reconstruction, almost anything would be a piece of cake. Don't you feel stronger and proud just for having been through it. It fades with time, but I know I feel like ...if I could get through that, I can tackle almost anything. So, sinus schminus, you got this one down.
Rockin Robin checking in:
Friday 3 pts
Wt (173.2) up 0 pts
Water 7 pts
Exercise 13 pts
ex cred 1 pt stacked birch logs for my Mom into a very big stack and skipped the fudge cake (still warm) that she made for the tree cutters.
Total 24 pts

I'm not sure if it really will be easier, but when the doc was talking about the possible complications and the worse one was a nasal sounding voice, I almost laughed out loud! I wanted to ask, "What, no risk of death, blood clots, pneumonia, needing a transfusion?" And since I can't breath through my nose effectively and that is affecting my exercise AND sleep, the benes sound well worth the possible complicaations. And a week or so of sore throat will be nothing compared to not being able to straighten up, and trying not to cough becuase it hurts too much! So far the feeling of accomplishment and increased self confidence has been increasing, not fading! Hope it keeps up that way. And on that note, time to take the dog for a walk. . .
-
Hey NM, I guess I meant the experience of the Diep surgery was fading with time (even though I have more reconstruction to go). The empowerment I feel comes back every time I realize what I have actually been through. Including transfusions, failed skin grafts and all. We are strong!
Enjoy your walk on this beautiful day.....I'm going out to work in the garden.
-
Zogo, yes the experience IS fading, I see what you were saying now. I was very fortunate to not need any more surgery after Stage 1-partly because I have chosen not to have nipples made. Some of the recovery stuff comes back when certain topics come up, butmostly I've pretty mnuch forgotten all the details. Which is a good thing! I need to work in my garden, too, hopefully it will warm up enough to melt off the frost soon!
Enjoy your garden!
-
Roadrunner checking in (early for me) so I don't forget tonight - 3 pts
Weight down - ELAB LOW!!! 209.4 YAY - 2pts
Exercise 6 pts - been working my tail off at work, so that may count, but hard to keep track of.
Water - 7pts - I keep better track now
18pts
Now, for this week's challenge - this is my challenge to myself. Journaling your food is supposed to be a big help in weight loss. I'm terrible at it. So the challenge this week is to do it for just ONE DAY - can I do it? Can you do it? If you are successful, post it here and I'll put the names in a hat for a prize. Gotta figure out the prize still. Art? Texas pecans (better than other snack food)? Pedometer? Hmmmm. It's hard to think of fun stuff that doesn't promote bad habits. Sigh.
-
Linda actually checking in on Friday! Welcome back, Meece - missed you!
Had BMX on Monday, am doing pretty well overall, but having some kind of allergic reaction to something so now on benadryl in addition to all other meds that make me drowsy, so if I don't make sense, just chalk it up to better living through modern chemistry!
Weight = probably about the same - not sure
Exercising = 2 points (walked a lot over weekend, housework & etc., surgery on Monday, so walked 15 minutes Wed, 25 mins yesterday, am working back up to it)Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points
Water = 6 points
"Extra Credit" points = 1 for being a relatively "good" patient and staying overnight
Total: 9 points. Hope to do better next week!
Gentle hugs to all.
-
Oh Linda, I didn't know you were having a bmx! How did it go? Benedryl really helped me when I had nausea from the pain meds. I hope it helps you.
Take care of yourself and give yourself time to heal.
Gentle hugs girlfriend
-
HELLO - everyone!!
It's lateish here, I'm really tired. First full week working for someone else!!
I'm logging in but I'm too tired to get my exercise log etc so I'll do the actual tally tomorrow but I'm claiming my Friday check in points!!!
I'm sooooo tired - I'm just not use to commuting!! Reminds me of when I had to travel to the city daily for rads!! No rads this time but I'm going to the same complex but hopefully they will be paying me this time - LOL!!
I promise I'll give you all my points tallies and a report on my new job over the weekend!!

water intake = 4 points
exercise = 3 points
extra credit- 1 pt. (scheduled my Med Onc appt) blah!! for the 21st
Total = 11 points
Hope to see the scale fall some next week... no breads, staying away from as many carbs as possible... just putting the bear minimum in the diet. Trying to do some of what I did last year
, but not setting my goals so high if I can take off 20-25 lbs and maintain it I think I will be happy with that. 145 isn't so bad for 5'5''
-
Ainm- sorry to hear you are pooped but at least you checked in...yay!!
Linda- sorry to hear you have had a reaction. Benadryl knocks me out so maybe you will sleep well while you heal/
I seem to have finally succumbed to the cold I was fighting last week so no dance class for me tonight...but here we go"
Friday check in- 3 points
exercize since last check in:14 points
weight: 1 points (because my pants say I lost but the scale at the gym said I had maintained)
extra points- 2 (oncologist appointment, then called a friend to talk it over and then went to the pharmacist the next day for some print out information to help me process...)
I think I am with team flock
weight was 150 now 148
water- 2 points (only managed big glugs a couple of days...I am soooo not drinking enough...how can I possibly remember to drink?)
---------------------
total- 22 points!

Roadrunner here:
Down from the prior week = 2 points (only down .6 but that's half a pound)
Exercising =10 pts (allergies sidelined me last 3 days)
Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points
Meeting daily water intake = 5 ptsTotal = 20 pts so at least I did my minimum this week.
Ainm, hopefully your are resting comfortably now. It is tough getting back into the ratrace.
Zogo, it didn't work as well as I hoped but then I was suffering from allergies pretty badly so did not do as much exercise as I wanted and my eating is still in need of major overhaul.
Allergy meds have me wiped out so wishing everyong a good night.
-
Happy Friday everyone! Checking in for the Roadrunners - 3 points. Drank my water for 7 points and finally down to 144.5. It's not my elab low but have been stuck for nearly 3 months with the weight not going anywhere. That gives me 1 point for weight. YEH....
Exercise was a bit off this week, 7 points. I stayed at the gym extra time when I went because two days were spent after work at the T-ball park. (I helped one day because the coach was the only one there with 7 little boys... I had such fun).
Extra credit made muffins that were actually good for me... bananas, almond flour, walnuts, and quinoa. They were really moist - don't know if I can recreate them because I add the ingredients as I went substituting for a regular recipe. - 1 point for effort.
Drinking more water at work is keeping me on the fast track to the john.... hehe.
Total for week 19
-

NM, I had sinus surgery some years ago, and as I recall, the worst part was having the packing removed, so you should get through it just fine,
I still have no idea what I weigh. I need to get a new scale so I can start monitoring.
-
Meese, I got my scales at WalMart. Not to expensive - it registers in 1/2 lb increments so I really know which way the sales is going.
-
Wow - so much to do so little time to do it. I am trying to organise myself a little better but everything happened very quickly and I went from job hunting to employed quicker than I expected - but I am not complaining. It's a long day for me and a commute that I am not use to but I'm sure I'll get use to it. I have developed head cold symptoms but I am blaming it on the air conditioning where I work - I wouldn't be use to air conditioning at all. Do you think I'm right or have I just managed to catch a cold my first week at work!!
Road runner stats for last friday's check in 3 pts
Weight up
0 pts
Exercise 18 pts (I do a lot of rushing around at work am I allowed to allocate a point or two to this activity and consider it exercise?)
Water 7pts
Extra Credit 1 pt New Job!! (first time in 25 years to work for anyone other than DH and I miss him!!)
Total 29 points
Great to see so many of the fledglings have returned to the nest!! Have a good week.
-
Meece I agree with you... I also had sinus surgery many years ago but the worst part about it was getting the packing removed and the 24-48 hrs you had to keep the packing in. Once the packing is out you feel a 100% better. Of course my wonderful ENT didn't get my septum completely straight and I have more stuffiness now that I did, but not the infections that I use to have so for that I am so very thankful! Good Luck NM
-
My surgery was for polyps. I was amazed how many smells I had been missing for so many years. In ways that was a good thing.
-
Thanks for the reassurance, Meece. I hope I can smell more after this is over, too!
Ainm-I've started carrying around a stop watch and trying to collect all the minutes I spend walking across parking lots, up and down stairs, and everything else. Sometimes I forget to click it but it's eye opening how much or little time a certain task takes compared to what I THINK it takes!
Mimi-Since my septum is perforated, although I have no idea how or when that happened, there isn't anything to be straightened out. I'm not looking forward to the packing, but since I can barely breathe through my nose as it is, maybe it won't be so bad? Even if it is, it's only for a day or two. -
I've been meaning to ask this question: Why is it that I can weigh in a pound or two ligher every day of the week EXCEPT Friday?
Sigh.
-
Dear Native Mainer, you aren't the only one, it's a bitter pill to swallow. That cartoon that tops this site is all too accurate!!!!
