loseit.com - got me back to watching what passes by my teeth.  Also started this week to not eat anything after 8pm.    Don't take off Sheila as the support here will also help get back on track and we are not judgmental because we all are there on and off.

    Roadrunner checking in

    Friday                     3 pts

Wt (180.6)               2 pts  (finally went down thanks to tips above)

    Water                     5 pts

Exercise                 5 pts (really bad this week - blame allergies)

Extra                      1 pt (didn't go over my calorie count on loseit.com the whole week)

Total                      16 pts (didn't make my weekly goal of 20 minimum pts)

Zogo - my water bottle is 18 ozs.

    checking in for Roadrunners

Finally getting the 3 points for checking in on Friday. Yeah!

Weight the same - 1 point

    Water intake - 7

Exercise not so good - 5

    Extra credit - saw pcp for follow-up - 1

    Total for week 17

Not so proud of the points but trying to help out with friend. The MRI showed two bulging discs in her back. Very painful for her.

I had to stop and go measure my favorite water bottle (Turvis) and it is 14 oz.

Aimn. I know what you mean about coming here for support and friendship. I find myself having to watch what I eat and if I start to obsess about what I'm going to eat... I have more. I slipped up this week at work because the boss had a birthday and of course we had cake. It was double chocolate. Wished they would have gotten something I really didn't like but alas they didn't. I succumbed to the temptation. That's why I come here and let you know that I had trouble this week and I'm still trying to eat healthy.... which I did... the cake was just a small bump in the road.

Sheila hope you don't go far... we need to hear from you!

    Roadrunner checking in.

    It's Friday - 3 points

Weight - amazingly, finally back down to 184.6 - 2 points

    Water - 5 points

    Exercise - 9 points

    Total - 19 points

It's been a difficult week to stay on track because of traveling, and a sheet cake sized brownie to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday yesterday.  Somehow the weeks I do the worst with eating and exercising are the weeks my weight goes down. I have no idea why. ????

Roadrunner checking in - 3 pts for Friday!

2 pts for weight down - almost down to E-lab low.

6 pts water - better this week

    6 pts exercise, I think

1 pt extra point - dr visit to BS - NED! also dr visit to schedule colonoscopy.  Oh boy.  The actual procedure is going to earn me a point in October.

    18 points, I think

Sue - did you say that chocolate cake was a burp in the road?Laughing

Sheila!  Don't leave us!  We love you no matter what!

Patmom - I am guessing that when we eat more junk or more food we're also moving more or more stressed or metabolism revs up or something - I've noticed the same thing - doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.  I do know that they say when you cut back on food, your body (at first, anyway) starts storing more (as fat) because it thinks it is going to starve - so you pack on weight even with less food.  Wreck.

    Water bottle 16 oz

Bookart, yes it was a delicious (my fav) burp in the road!

My weakness is chocolate, any kind, you name it... i've tried to eat the 85% chocolate that's good for us. But, sometimes there is just the temptation, double fudge chocolate cake with chocolate icing and well......

And, this week I've had to help a friend and not been able to get to the gym like I usually try to. How are you others fitting it in with work and all. Any suggestions???

End of September Challenge     Part 2

Theoretically, one is supposed to drink the number of ounces equivalent to half their weight in pounds.

For example, I weigh 174 lb. I should be drinking 87 ounces of water a day (according to health experts).  I divide that by the size of my favorite 16 oz water glass (with a built in straw :)) and I should shoot for 5.4 glasses a day. Usually I drink about half that.

Before you get scared, I don't really expect you all to actually drink that much.  Kudos if you can, but I would use up a jumbo pack of TP at that rate.

The goal is to be aware of how much is suggested for you and keep some sort of tally. Find a place to make tally marks for your water every day.  A notepad, a whiteboard, your computer, the back of your hand Laughing...and keep track of how many times you fill the cup for the day.

Report back your best of the week next Friday.

Names will go in a hat for all that calculate number of cups, do a tally and report back. It's not a competition to drown yourself, just an awareness drill.

I will mail a small prize to the winner.

Hopefully, we will get healthier in the process!

Zogo, is the liquid only water or can it be tea and/or coffee too? If I use my 12 oz glass, I've got to drink 6.5 - so far today I've had 5... some water some tea. Let me know. This is a great idea, thanks.

samsue, if it's decaf tea or coffee I think it counts.  Not sure about sweetened though so not sure if fruit juice would count.

Patoo, good because I never put sugar in my tea.... coffee's another matter. I like it with cream/sugar and flavor otherwise I couldn't stand to drink it.

Sheila, I don't think a fruit juice would quality because of the sugar content.

OK, my understanding is no drinks with sugar ie... tea/coffee plain and lemon water. But the goal is to drink mostly water.

    Errant team captain checking in.................

You are so right, we need to "stick together" even when we've fallen off the wagon.

I, too, am spending less time at BCO, all the time being devoted to professional responsibilities.... which is good, but I know that this 12 day road trip from WI to OH flight to CO (baby grand-daughter a LUV) and back to OH and now driving to WI..... silly nonsense of fun.

Can't even imagine what the scale will say upon return to reality.

    I pledge to return here............................

Honest-to-goodness. Settle into a groove. Back in the saddle & all that.

Here's to hanging in there together for the long haul.

    Wow! What a great photo!!!

Linda just checking in to let you all know I haven't forgotten, just got side-tracked with attending a conference this week.  Have climbed stairs to hotel room every day at least once a day - we are on 7th floor, with lobby adding an extra floor.  Don't have scales here.  Also will check my favorite mug when I get home on Tuesday.

Hope to see you all here on Friday!!!

Faithie, Cutest baby!!!!!!, I would not want to put her downLaughing It must be so fun.

Linda, great job on climbing the 8 flights of stairs at the hotel.  Way to go GF!

Patoo, LOL, hydration by osmosis (from the pool) isn't gonna count for much.Cool

Samsue, sounds like you are doing great on the challenge already!

As for me, I actually accomplished the whole amount of water yesterday.  Made tally marks and drank water at every turn.  It does fill you up, but I thought I might float away.  Plus, I got up more times than usual in the night Wink Don't think I can do it every day, but, I'm going to try.

As for other drinks, I think water, or as close to water as possible, is best. No caffeine (dehydrates) and minimum other stuff.  Sometimes I add a slice of cucumber or lemon or mint to my water.  Most of the time just water and ice.  In the morning, you can find me with a cup of coffee and a large glass of water going at the same time.  Geez, how do I find room for food?

I was away on vacation last week (didn'gain any weight, yahoo!) so catching up now--

My faavorite mug is an old one from a hospital--holds 32 ounces.  Half my weight (223 this morning) in ounces would be 112 ounces!  Yikes!  That would be 3 mugs full!  I usually drink 1 1/2 to 2.  I'm going to have to think about this one!

    See I'm back already!!!!

Firstly: thanks to all about your Maisie-baby delight. That is the only pic of the two of us.... sigh. At least my hair is dry: LOL. Other wise it was pretty much first thing after shower.

    Secondly..................

The scale was a wake-up call this morning for the diligence that needs to be paid FOREVER.

    I clocked in at 145.8.

Now. I realize that for some here that would be reason for rejoicing.

So I 'confess' that number with some sense-of-reality about perspective.

What it does tell me is that all of my no kidding exercise thru the winter, just takes one season of too warm to go outside a lot, to get back where I started.

I am going to make a gen-u-ine effort to get with the "liquids & water" as my first step.

Everything I LUV is sedentary, so must figure out how to get my buns in movement to break up my cyber addictions...............

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    I have one more thought.

Our Ainm & I are very 'similar' in goals and current distress over back-sliding. Ainm, I can totally feel your angst.

Would it be 'cool' to have a 'partner' that we could assign (cross-team) that is similar in situation (weight) that we could then goad one-on-one thru PMs and the like?? I don't want to make more work -- especially when many of us are having enough of a challenge just getting to clock in here periodically.

Just thinking out loud, as to how we can jump-start our committment.

    I need the jump-start!!!!

I am with you faithie, I just can't move the scale downward... even with exercise. I'm trying Patoo advise and logged onto loseit.com (having some difficulty with the site) but, hopefully that will help with what I'm eating.

Drank two of my six glasses of water so far!

I think the Irish fluid ounce is slightly bigger than the US fluid ounce so I'm not sure how much I should be drinking according to Zogo's theory  - so now I have to do maths equasions too!!!  You are really making me work - do you think that might help me lose some weight - well it might because if I'm busy doing maths I can't be busy in the kitchen!!!!

Faithie - Absolutely gorgeous baby - give her a cuddle from me!!  And maybe a buddy system might work even if it is just to get someone through a tough patch - I thrink it's a good idea.

    See you on Friday!

Ainm, Really? I had no idea that an Irish fluid ounce would be different.  Are you sure that it's not just that the beer glasses are bigger in Ireland?Laughing

I only drank about 1/5 of my water yesterday.  Will try to increase that today. Already have 1 in so that's a start.....

Zogo - Uh-huh - seemingly it's not just Irish it's all european measurements are slightly different to US measurements - and I don't know what you mean about the beer glasses, are they big here??  Really?? Of course I wouldn't know - I'm a good girl refraining from all alcohol so as not to put on weight or keep any stray nasty cells in party mood!!!

Have only managed 4 glasses so far today and it's already after lunch!!

I had no clue this was the case.  "Imperial" fluid ounce is bigger. I love learning something new!  Looks like it is quite close...you could subtract a couple ounces from your requirement. It's just a guideline anyway.

I was googling "Irish ounces" and got references to beer! haha Finally found this conversion.

Glad people are being aware of their water!

1 Imperial fluid ounce = 0.960760338 US fluid ounces
