Hey there ladies.  I have not checked in here for about a month.  I am down to 199.8... At least I broke the 200 mark.  Coming off slowly but at least coming off. I am doing the lower carb thing as some of you ladies suggested.  I am not starving myself but watching what i eat.  My goal is to loose about 30 pounds prior to my surgery on January 18th.  I know it will be hard but gonna try and find some new low carb recepies for the holidays and stuff like that.  Congrats to those of you who are loosing and hang in there to those of you who are not.  I just have to keep reminding myself that I may need to loose weight but at least I am alive and that counts for alot more Laughing

JenC:  Congratulations on breaking 200!  Wow, that is a big deal and I am betting not easy at all.  I am also doing low carb-seems since I started this ride I can't seem to even look at bread or pasta without getting fat.  I find if I eat enough I won't crave the carbs.  I posted the diet I am doing and I have done it before and it helps you lose weight without going hungry or losing any muscle.  If you follow the link I posted above, it gives you your daily menu.  WARNING: You have to like salmon, lol.

Jen- congratulations!  I hope that keeps you motivated!  Here's what happened to me about 8 years ago...I was 30 lbs overweight and I decided that was it.  Nothing went in my mouth that wasn't on the low carb diet for 3 months, and the 30 lbs melted away.  I was like 'Damn, if I knew it was that easy and quick, I would have done that a long time ago!!!"  So rather than dragging it out and eating/splurging/repeat, just Do It!  Anyone else on board with this?  We've got 3 months until the Christmas holidays....(btw, I did low carb on Thanksgiving and it was fine...for goodness sakes, it was one meal and missing a few items certainly didn't ruin the fun)

I start working Monday for the first time in over a year...nervous, but happy to get out of the house and set up a routine the doesn't include multiple trips to the fridge for boredom foraging!

Good luck to everyone over the weekend!!

Day 3 of my diet.  I have just one word for it:  Hunger!

tnbcRuth- when I was serious about losing weight a few years back I just kept track of calories and refused to go over a certain amount. Like you, I was amazed at how easy it was, and the pounds just fell off (136 down to 122). I think it really is a mindset, and you either have it or you don't. These days, I just want to be comfortable and not beat myself up if I feel like an ice cream or chocolate.

Of course, that's why I haven't made it down and maintained 125...(sigh).

So is it just me?  I shouldn't be hungry as my diet requires eating lots of food but even after I just eat I am starved!!!  Even my stomach is growling.  If it could talk it would be screaming:  carbs, carbs, carbs!!

It's not your stomach...  it's your head saying d*mn, d*mn, d*mn...I'm on a diet. Try giving your head something else to think about...?Wink

Fighter..you crack me up..I love reading all your posts..2 ounces "aint" anything.

I'm holding at 136...which is surprising because I've been eating those M&Ms again...plus a real Coke now and then...

But my DD is getting married in 2 weeks (from today)..so needless to say I'm a little stressed out and I think that I'm burning up extra calories arguing with Bridezilla....she calls me Momzilla... we have agreed that we both are too much alike and that we set each other off..

I wil not be weighing in tomorrow.  The wheels have totally fallen off of my wagon to fitness.  FIL was admitted to hosp, I caught a cold from DH, friends in from out of town staying at our house for the weekend, and the topper was tailgating at a rained out Nascar race today.  Way to much food and then a few beers once we called it a day and came home to get the fireplace going and then ate some more!  I feel like a bloated little piglet.  I will not get back on the scale until I get back in gear and on the right path. Rant over. oink oink.

I was bad, bad, bad.  Had a sugar fit-maybe because my DH is out of town and I am lonely?  Nah, just a piglet #2 here.  Muffin tops in all my pants tells me what's really going on.  Day 6 of diet.

So I stepped on the scale and could not believe my eyes.  Before cancer I started the HCG diet and lost 15 lbs in just over 2 weeks.  My starting weight was 187...I stopped hcg in early Aug when I found the lump that would change my life forever but continued to eat (somewhat) healty..by dropping excess sugar and eating more veggies and fruit...today I weighed 155...shocking for me as I have not weighed so little in so LONG.  Now as I begin the chemo part of this fight I am at least encouraged to continue to eat right..when able...and kick this cancer's butt!  Bringing sexy back once I get those foobies!

Hello ladies.  I know I am a few days late at weighins but 198.5 this am  YEA.  Slow but sure.  MBJ.  I am still hungry to but I keep cheese and stuff handy for a little nibble now and then when I need something.  Been doing salads for lunch with ham and cheese in it which really seems to fill me up until at least 4 and then I have a small piece of cheddar cheese around 4:30 then dinner at 6.  Kinda try and spread it out.  Im good in the am, not much of a morning eater anyway.  I have stopped drinking regular soda (for the most part, one  now and then) and drink Pepsi Max or Coke Zero (which neither has any carbs)  Hoping the holidays dont send me back up.  I am trying some new low carb recepies for deserts this year.  Hoping they are good.

Congrats to all of you loosing the pounds and keep up the good work.  We will all get there eventually.  It goes on quick and takes FOREVER to come off.  Smile

    Huge congrats Maggie....

Jen:  I find sugar is the death of my diet so I try to steer clear.  Dairy is very high in fat so I try to eat yogurt or cottage cheese sparingly and occassionally some parmeson or a nibble of cheese but that is also my downfall.  Prior to BC I think I lived and breathed chocolate, cheese and wine.

I know what you mean MBJ.  I still have those days where that is all I crave is to sit with a bag of Lindt chocolates and eat the whole thing.  But cant to that anymore Frown  On a more positive note todays weigh in is 197.7  YEA........  Hope you are all doing good.  Looks like  am the first one today to post.

    Hello everyone,

Can I join? I am 140 lbs. I have been trying hard for the last three years to lose weight but it has been a see saw. I am too stressed because of a scare from possible mets, then excited because the scan turned out ok, gone through surgeries, messed up body because of chemo etc.... List of excuses is long and I know you can relate. Any one here vegetarian and trying to lose weight? I find it hard to be low carb on a veg diet.

formygirls:  welcome to the thread!  We usually weigh in on Mondays.  I am back at 158-8 pounds to go.  I was a vegetarian for 15 years and their are good carbs (beans, fruit) and bad carbs (bread, pasta, white rice).  Since I needed lots more protein after chemo I now eat grass fed meat, organic chicken and wild fish.  That being said, I do lots of substitutes:  brown rice instead of white, Quinua Pasta instead of wheat pasta (Whole Foods, yummm!), and I try to avoid bread and when I do have it it's organic sour dough or whole grain but this is usually the fattening element for me (besides sugar).  I hope this helps!

I'm still hanging at 132, and headed out on Wednesday for a quick trip to Florida for my nephew's wedding. At least most of my gowns still fit, though the one I was hoping to wear is a bit tight... in the boobs, no less.

Okay, I'm going to jump back into this, because common sense tells me eating well and exercising will only help me.  So... I'm at 122, but even better - I fit into my freakin' WHITE WHALE jeans!!!  Oh yea, baby!!!  Sure, stress played a role in that, but I'll take what I can get, lol.

Back onto the exercise bandwagon tomorrow.

I haven't weighed myself at home, but have at the docs, not good! I have gained, but I am not sure how much because of the differences in scales. I need to get on the scale here at home.....I have been eating very bad. Healthy food does not taste good, all I want is carbs, coffee and sweets!

Suze, congrats on fitting into your jeans!!!! Yes, I'd take stress weight loss also.....I think I am having stress weight gain istead:)

    I loss 18 pounds ladies.

Before you get jealous I had liposuction earlier this week. After the BMX I was left w/ a huge stomach and if I didn't wear a gridle people would swear I was preggo.

I am final at my target weight but I will continue to exercise and eat right. I feel so LIGHT.

So prior to BC I was 229, I loss 15 after the BMX, and now I am like 145 once swelling subsides.
