Who cares? I know there are people who still believe in Bigfoot even though the chief instigator of that myth confessed to the elaborate hoax on his deathbed.

    Morning girls :)

The baby sitting went well - not a peep out of the precious. They were very late getting back - after midnight.

DH has still got the cough from that flu he caught. Now I've got a new cold - bummer dude. I can infect all of the people on the flight back - payback to the one who infected me on the flight from Paris. Just joking, I probably won't be infectious by then.

    Good morning, all!

Wait...Bigfoot is ashamed to be seen with Obama?  Now I'm all confused.  ;-)

Susieq - Glad you enjoyed your grandbaby!  I've really enjoyed reading your travelogue and wish you a safe flight back home.  Take something for your cold so that your ears don't explode on the plane!

I'm loving this weather, hockey season is on the way, and I'm traveling to Colombia next month!  Things are looking up!

How did I manage before my surgery and before Ray of Sunshine.  I'm always on  the go now, on weekends!  Another busy day for me!

Bigfoot loves jerks err I mean jerky!

    Hi Everybody!

You are not going to believe what happened last night.

We got up to the Red Lobster in Roanoke about 5:30 and met KK and Craig. Well about 6 pm when they served the salad and bread something happened to Tim's jaw. It got painful and swelled up by the ear. He thought he was having a stroke and started having a panic attack. So we left in the middle of dinner and rushed to the ER in Roanoke. We were there for 3 1/2 hours. They ran all kinds of tests and it wasn't a heart attack or stroke.

They thought it might be a parotid blockage or something like that in the salivary gland. At any rate, everything else was normal. Except his blood pressure was initially in the 220's. With no diagnosis, the doc finally said we could leave.

So we finally get out of there about 10:30 p.m. and go to get in the car. Well .. I had left the car lights on and the battery was dead! We had to park a ways away from the emergency room in this little dark lot, as there was no parking nearby. Then we had to hike up this steep hill to get to the ER ... and this was in 4 inch heels. arghh.  That's probably what spiked Tim's blood pressure.

Anyway .. we called my sis to come and help us out with the battery, but before they could get back, a man pulled up beside us and helped us out.

I was not happy that I didn't get to eat my b-day dinner and that I spent all that time in the ER.

So we get out of there around 11 p.m. and about halfway home I wanted to stop at the DQ and get a blizzard. I was hungry and thirsty. So at 11:30 I got my blizzard and Tim got a Moolatte. Well lo and behold his sucking on that straw caused the swelling and pain to start draining from his ear/jaw region.

Got home about midnight. Winston (my old dog) really had to pee and was so happy to see us. I'm a little tired today, as Tim had to get up early and he kept hitting the snooze button. It was driving me nuts. I finally had to push him out of bed and threaten to kill the freakin' clock if he didn't stop it.

So .. that was my birthday dinner. Tim seems to be okay today, but still has some swelling and pressure.

I'm just glad he didn't have a stroke or a heart attack. He was really scared. And I couldn't believe this part ... the docs offered him morphine for the pain and he said NO. Hello .. I asked if they could give it to me instead. I needed some right about then.

Anyway .. other than that ... it was a great birthday.  And I did look fabulous in my new shoes and jeans!  Tim kept telling everyone in the ER it was my birthday.  Too bad they didn't supply the cake and ice cream!!

I would really like some of those malted milk balls with my coffee this morning.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

    Bren

Thanks guys!  We're okay and a nap during football sounds pretty good today!  At least the docs didn't decide to run a bunch of scans.  We're still paying for the scans from his last ER visit six months ago!

Glad to have the insurance, but Blue Cross sucks.

Talk about feeling old ... the ER resident looked about twelve.  Tim asked him where he went to medical school.  I thought that was a funny question to ask the guy .. but whatever.  Turns out the cute 12 year-old resident studied in the Caribbean.

Cindy ... so happy to hear you are done with treatment.  Happy Birthday to your DH .. and I hope you plan a great celebration for being done with the Herceptin!

Susie .. glad to hear you are enjoying the baby.  What a wonderful way to end your great vacation!

Barbara ... I'm so excited about your next interview.  Will it be on the phone or is this one in person?  We'll be cheering you on and you'll do a fabulous job, I'm sure!

    hugs,

    Bren

Bren - I'm glad that Tim is OK - what a birthday.

We had lunch with our son, DIL and baby today - I hugged him to my chest and cried - I might never see him again. We are going there for dinner tonight, I just wish Mark would move back home, it's so expensive here. Her parents now both live in Western Australia, it's not fair we have to go so far to see him. He likes his Nana - got lots of smiles today. DH got a big one too.

Hair calming down a bit as the water is harder here - can't wait for the cut next Wednesday!!! I tell bubby I'm his woolly coo nana and he likes that.

(((Bren))) so sorry abvout your truncated celebration. Rather worrisome that they never found out what was actually wrong with Mr. Tim. Maybe something he ate caused an allergic reaction or got into the gums or something? Anyway, glad today is better.

Susie, I really hope your fear proves wrong and that you get to see the baby again throughout his life. Glad your hair is calming down!

Oh Bren - didn't I tell you to be careful?  So sorry about your birthday and Mr. Tim - I think he should have a doc look at his ear and surrounding area this week - he may have an infection incubating - wonder why they didn't at least suggest that - I don't like that "they couldn't find anything wrong" it's probably something that could be easily treated and NOT with pain meds - thinking more along the lines of an anti-biotic or decongestant or both - ER's scare me.

Hope you get a "do over" on your dinner - you deserve it - you've had a rough week.

E - ah yes, hockey season is about to erupt - how do you go to Colombia and miss part of the season - does your sister tweet you the score or haven't you figured out how this is going to work - how many games are you going to miss?  Is this the year my Canadien's are getting the cup back to where it rightfully belongs???

Thanks Athena - I'll try to be more optimistic but it sort of ties in with a premonition I had when I was diagnosed. I really fell for the little guy - I want to see him all the time. DH and I could do a working thing here but I heard they won't hire older Aussies since the whole EU thing happened - they used to love Aussie IT people because we have such good work ethics. I do see ads for programmers over here for the software I'm an expert in.

Oh Sandy...I didn't even THINK about the hockey I'll miss!  I hope I can find the games on cable or the interwebs or something.

And no, the Canadiens will not win the Cup this year.  :-P

(((Sue)))  I, too, hope you get to see your little guy throughout his life.  He needs his woolly coo nana!

Bren - sorry you had such an "eventful" birthday.  That experience is terrifying - hope Mr. Tim is fine, and it never happens again.  Just an anomaly?  Hope so.

SusieQ - can't imagine how difficult it will be for you  to leave the little fellow.  I'm a little tempted to wish things don't go well in the UK, and ALL your family wants to go home to Aussie land.  Seems a much better choice now, given what's happening in the UK.  Fingers crossed it all works out well for you.

Having a bit of a giggle - seems we are "not" supportive of other women on this site, and at the same time are constantly going to other threads - ah, confuzzled. Seems taking a thread off the "active list" & the "ignore" policy give some deluded people the illusion of credence in what we all know is a lie.  Alas, not in our hands.

Gorgeous day in New England.  Expect many not resident of MA have heard the wonderful news Elizabeth Warren is competing to be the Democratic candidate for the late Ted Kennedy's Senate seat.  LOTS of excitement.

Miss Daisy Eliabeth above. She is so sweet. We left here Friday, stayed overnight and came back yesterday so we could be at baby Anna's baptism this morning. The trip went well except DH thought I had walked away from the back of the Outback and shut the back hatch on my head. I have a headache.

We stopped at a winery and bought vodka made from grapes. It was intriguing. It it pretty good.
