I had just turned 46 in March and diagnosed in May. Found lump under arm myself. After biopsy, I was told I had cancer(1 positive node). Had another mammo(last mammo was 9/04), diagnostic mammo, MRI, needle biopsy, lumpectomy, 15 more nodes removed (1 positive). Started chemo in July; finished October; had radiation and am now on Tamoxifen.
    I'm hanging in there.

My Mom was dx'd at age 43 (11 years ago, and going strong!).

I'm 27 and awaiting an excisional biopsy to remove and test a 1 cm mass.

The range of ages is just amazing, but not as amazing as the women fighting (AND WINNING!)!!!

I was 36 when I was diagnosed in July 2004. My primary care physician sent me for a mammogram (my first) to follow up on a lump that he was sure was a cyst. It turned out to be a 5cm tumor, and I finished treatment in March 2005.

Stay strong, ladies! There's lots of support here!

I was 32 and it was a week and a half before Christmas of 04. I had an itch and scratched it and thought "wow" "what is that" and well......on January 7 of 05 I was dx. It was hell for me, treatments and all, but I did it. We are so much stronger than we think!!!!!!

Love you all! Hugs and more hugs!

I was about 2 weeks shy of my 29th birthday in October 2005 when I found the lump, and it was diagnosed as IDC a few weeks later. Had a lumpectomy in November, a re-exision to get clear margins and a SNB in Early December, and then a full node dissection in mid December. I am hoping to be done with chemo in May, done with rads my mid summer, and ALL DONE by March of next year.

I went home to France for Christmas, while there had yearly mamo, I am 47. Said they needed to do another mamo, followed by ultrasound, and then to talk to my GYN and schedule biopsy. Biopsy was scheduled for 29 Dec. and GYN believed it to be nothing. She called on 4 January, very sad to tell us it was bad news. I met surgeon and oncologist on 7 and had surgery on the 11 January. Flew home to Brazil on 29 and have started physio and radiation here! Caught very early, very small, and no nodes were involved! Lot of questions about hormone therapy to follow though!! Anyone help with that?

I was dx'd at 35...9 tumors(1-1.5 cm each), 2 positive nodes....er/pr+...her2-. I have always had very lumpy. bumpy fibrous breasts and thankfully I went in for a mammo on a whim. I am nearing 38 now...and am hoping to see 83...

12 days after I turned 48. Happy Birthday! So far lumpectomy, 9mm IDC, er/pr+, her2-, no lymphatic invasion suspected but having a SNB in a few weeks to be sure. Dense cystic breasts.

I asked the surgeon today how long he thinks this thing was inside me, based on having taken it out and what he knows from my path report. He said 5-6 years! Amazing. And it was not detected in 2003 when the Fibroadenoma next to it was discovered by my very on-the-ball and thorough radiologist. Who knows if it was overlooked or simply not large enough yet then to be read in a mammo or ultrasound, and obviously since it didn't show up in those diagnostic methods an MRI, which possibly might have picked it up, was not indicated. Sort of a Catch-22 here.

And yet they are still saying this was caught early! How something that's been in me for 5-6 years before it was detected can be considered "catching it early" is anyone's guess but whatever. I wish I could turn back the hands of time. I wonder what I was doing the day it "was born" - I'm been contemplating a lot lately if this could have somehow been caused by stress (5-6 years ago coincides with a VERY stressful period of my life on many fronts) or if it's Ye Olde Basic Crapshoot O'Life.

Indeed, weird about all these birthday diagnosis. It would have been a few weeks later but I couldn't stand the suspense and made an appointment with the radiologist who could see me sooner. It still would have been a lousy birthday present, just slightly more belated.

I stopped nursing on may 28 '05, and in june saw my gp about a (?) clogged duct. Got a second opinion, and since I had been nursing for 16 mths, and was 33, we agreed to keep an eye on it. After all, it was oblong-not your typical round lump! Needless to say a lumpectomy a week after my 34th bday revealed a 5cm tumor, followed by a mastectomy to the left breast in september (2 out of 22 nodes +), 4ac,4 taxol starting late oct., and i am now starting my 4th week of radiation. I have posted on another board regarding the area; chest wall, under arm and super clav-4 areas total being treated. Funny to think i was excited to end nursing to have my smaller chest size back!
