At 64 and I had mammograms every year since age 50. Showed up as microcalcifications and very fast growing. I am also surprised at the young ages. I read somewhere that the average age for detection is 64 but I wonder now if that is still the case or if what I read was accurate.

I was (and still am) 61 -- about the same age that my mother was at her first diagnosis. Like bluemerle, I had been having annual mammograms from the first time my insurer would cover them (35). My younger sister was diagnosed at around 55, had mastectomy and is doing fine 5 years later.

35, and 28 weeks pregnant. First sign was bleeding from the nipple but no one was concerned due to the pregnancy. When a lump formed a few weeks later, doctors were still unconcerned, but biopsy revealed DCIS (which later turned out to be invasive...)

I hope that I am doing this right. I have not done this before. I am just trying to answer how old were you? I am 46, and haven't been diagnosed yet, but I know it's coming. Just a gut feeling. Just what will the diagnosis be!

59 at diagnosis, but surgeon said that the cancer had probably been there for at least four years, possibly longer; now 62 - on tamoxifen only at present. No surgical procedure carried out.

I was diagnosed on April 5th, 2005 at the age of 39. A few days later I found out it was Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I had multiple lumps, skin involvement and massive node involvement. I am coming up on 41 in a few months and haven't gotten rid of it yet. I am hoping for good news soon. : )

I just received my dx on 5/24/06 at the age of 39. I had a lumpectomy and 2 nodes removed on 6/2/06. Still awaiting final results...one lymph node was clear, but they are unsure of the other and not sure if the margins are clear on the tumor (2.2 centimeters).

I was age 19 when I had a fibroadenoma removed (lumpectomy)in my left breast. Now age 49, April 2006 during mammograph found IDC, stage 2B with 1.8cm tumor removed as a lumpectomy again from the left breast 30 years later. One postive lymph node ER+,PR+,HER2-. I guess the writing was on the wall back then and I didn't realize I was at risk. I had small breasts and no family hx.
