I'm really starting to see a noticeable difference in hair growth in the past few weeks-much thicker and filling in...

DivineMrsM  That's funny-I have a colleague who has always called me "Dharma" from Jenna Elfman's old sitcom:)

Dragonfly - you look very pretty with short short hair! LOL and yes, you do look like Jenna Elfman.

I wanted to get my hair trimmed today, but I ended up in the waiting room at my cancer centre for 6 hours before I saw my onc.  Man was I pissed off!!!  Haircut rescheduled to tomorrow!

dragonfly - your hair is awesome!  You look so cute (and I agree, like Jenna Elfman!)  What do you think about it being dark?  I wish mine was - mucho salt, little pepper for me!  I may actually have more hair than I think but because it is so gray it is hard to tell.

marial - awesome hair growth - I am right behind you time wise but nowhere near as much hair.  You should be very excited!

My DD took a picture but it hasn't moved from her memory card to my computer yet, and now the picture is a couple of weeks old.  I need her to take another one because she says my hair looks different already.

SpecialK I'm sticking with the dark hair for now because it's such a great opportunity to go back to my original color. People at work will be shocked when I finally go topless because I've worked there 6 years and they've only seen me as a heavily highlighted blonde...

Dragonfly1, you have a beautiful smile. I also think you look much younger with the short hair (I saw your 'before' pic).

Like you, I was previously blond highlighted and have been thinking of trying my natural colour, maybe with just a few highlights for a sun-kissed look. You could wear a trendy style with your youthful look and big smile.

Ladym13, thanks for the warning about extensions. I will investigate carefully.

Sewingnut I'm already topless on my weekends (when I'm not likely to see anyone I know and can build up my courage) but I still wear the wig to work-don't know when I'll finally get my nerve up to go topless full-time

That first time going topless was really scary....but it felt SO good.  I never went back although now when I see pictures, I think "Oh my....I thought I had more hair than that!!!"

I'm convinced the sun helped it grow too....just like my tomato plants, LOL.

Dragonfly, you look fantastic!  I still think of your picture (distorted effect) and laugh.  I am 4 months PFC and only have as much hair as you.  Mine is dark and I like my little cow licks LOL.

Racy, you had TAC if I remember correctly, how is your hair doing??

Dragonfly I love your look with the dark hair. Really nice contrast with your eye color. Very unusual. But I've always been partial to brunettes Tongue out

Marjie I know what you mean. My hair was pretty short when I first went topless too. I think it really took about 5+ months before it really started to look good although not to bad at 4 months.

SpecialK Lost electricity briefly during the hurricane but very grateful for nothing worse. Only a few blocks away I have a neighbor with a tree through his house and his car crushed. We also have telephone poles down and roads closed all around me due to downed trees/power lines. Many of my friends are still without electricity. The cleanup will take a long time and I feel really bad for those who are also dealing with terrible flooding.

Hello, I finished chemo 13 weeks ago.  My hair started to 'appear' about 3 to 4 weeks pfc.  I now have a full covering but the thickness isn't there yet.  How long should I wait before putting a colour in?  I've always coloured my own hair with a L'Oreal product that contains no ammonia.  I'm not sure that will do now as there's quite a bit of grey.

I had mine professionally colored at 3 months when I went topless. My onc said I could color it when ever I wanted.

This is a public service announcement...

Bald women have power. During treatment I accomplished all sorts of things merely by showing up bald. NO ONE says no to a bald woman. I was in cahoots with a mother of a leukemia patient and I had his school wrapped around my finger. Nobody says no to a cancer mom speaking on behalf of a cancer kid!!! If you have the energy you can wield you power for good.

Brandy - LOVE IT!  The reverse is also true - if you get all made up in your fake eyebrows and eyelashes, put on make up and a wig - you get NO pity at all.  Everyone thinks you look good so you must feel good!  HA!  Just good at faking it!  Glad to be almost done with Rads here and actually feeling pretty good!

Kymn - I feel ya!  I look like a bowling pin - little naked head with round cheeks gradually getting bigger and bigger at the bottom!  I cannot rock the no hair thing at all - it is not a good look for me!  The only good thing is that this all can change!  The hair will come back, and if I get off my big bowling pin behind and stop eating things I shouldn't the rest of it will get better too!  You are not alone!

WOW  I think you girls are way too hard on yourselves....but I know how you feel.  My DH told me last night that I look like my mother....just what I needed to hear to boost my self esteem.  My hair is coming in nicely, but still short, kinda like a helmet head or an old ladies hairstyle.  My small head just makes my body look even bigger. It WILL grow and we will get our mojo back...just gotta have some patience.

It gets better Kymn!!!  I never even looked in a mirror, much less took pictures when I had that bloated chemo face. It's just such a long wait - we're so happy to be done treatment but the full recovery takes so long.

I asked my DH the other day...."do you think cancer has made me ugly?"  Kinda like asking "Do I look fat???".  He told me my appearance had really changed while I was sick - really aged, but he says now "you look like you....just short hair now".  You're right carberry - we are too hard on ourselves!!

Kymn, I know how you feel.  I keep thinking that I have sooo much hair now (at least it feels thick compared how it used to feel) and then I see myself in a picture and realize I'm still looking kinda freaky.  Today I was feeling like I was looking really normal, and this homeless guy in a wheelchair was asking me for change...as I was giving him some money, he looked at me all concerned, and asked if I was ok.   Sigh.

But fully going topless now.  I had one new biz pitch last week that I wore the wig to so I wouldn't scare the crap out of them, but now I think it's going into retirement.  I just can't deal.   But it's hard, as that means i'm officially walking away from having long, girly hair.   Guess I just need to start wearing lipstick more often and try to get my girly-on some other way.

Dragonfly you look awesome in short hair. And I agree, the brown makes your eyes pop...they look giant.  I actually think the short hair can make some of our features look more striking.

My husband brags to his friends that I change looks so often that it's like he constantly has a new girlfriend. He says all the girlfriends have looked so different, but funnily enough, they all have the same bitchy personality!!!! LOL!!! He's hysterical!
