Ainm, Yes, I take the skin off the bananas, break them in half and put them in a baggie. For me, when I make a full blender, I use about 1 1/2 bananas. So I will freeze them with 3 half bananas per baggie and just pop it in the blender when ready. It is a great way to save bananas before they get too ripe.

Linda with a late check-in with the Flock:
Weight down a little - 0
Exercising = 4 points
Making the Friday Check-in = 0 points
Meeting daily water intake = 7 points"Extra Credit" points - Can I get extra credit for going to biopsy and follow-up with the MO? = 1 point
Total: 12 points.
Ainm, thanks for the wishes. Was a rough week - biopsy shows recurrence, so have lots to think about. Fatigue has been really bad last couple of weeks so I haven't done the exercise, even though I know it would be the best thing for me. Will try harder this week!
Fixed peach smoothies yesterday - turned out GREAT! 5 large peaches, 1 pckg soft tofu, 2 cups plain greek yogurt, orange juice to thin it down, and cinnamon. I like the idea of freezing the bananas, and think I could probably freeze the whole thing if I didn't want to drink the same flavor 3-4 times in a row - it makes a lot! Or maybe freeze it just enough to be a sort of "frozen yogurt" type desert.
-
Oh Linda, I'm so sorry about the biopsy results
. It makes me so sad. Did you say you have more scans coming up? Bless your heart... I think "extra credit" points don't do it justice for what you have been through this week.
For the smoothies, yes, you can freeze them. Sometimes when my kids don't finish the blender, I pour the remnants into a baggie and later add that to another batch. You could have a stash and thaw them in a rotation so as to not have the some kind days on end.
I will be thinking of you and sending prayers your way. Hugs
-
Linda, sorry to hear about the results - (((Hugs)))
I also do smoothies for breakfast sometimes. I freeze the banana's in 1/2's - pealed and frozen from the freezer. I use chocolate almond milk, and raw protein from Garden of Life. Sometimes I add the greek yogurt for a change. I find blueberries on sale and freeze them whole and when other fruit is on sale I freeze and save for later. The blueberries are only in season for such a short time and I really like to use them. I've also done the same with red/black raspberries.
I also find that the DGKids love to eat the blueberries frozen. A friend slices her banana's and freezes them for snacks.
-
Linda, I am so sorry to hear. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
-
Pineapple is great frozen, too.
I'm back from vacation. Fat. Sitting here with my shorts unzipped. Fat. Fixed more food than needed because I was trying to get my 79 yo dad and wife to eat. Then had to eat leftovers to finish up food - on "deserted" island, so food verry expensive - shame to waste and all that. Hiked and kayaked (sp?) but laid around more than not. Back to the drawing board - and the gym. I'll see what I can do by next weigh-in.
Linda - our prayers are with you.

Thanks for all the hugs and support! I have been through just about every test there is this week, I swear! I spent all day last Friday and all day this Friday at the Breast Center with scans, appointments, etc. The good news is this is a local recurrence, and it is still "curable" according to my docs. They want to be more aggressive with surgery - tried the lumpectomy + chemo and thought that would be enough for me, but since it is back, I am prepared to do battle again! I tried tamoxifen after the chemo, had horrible SEs, so stopped it, but am back on it, trying to deal with it as the tumor is strongly ER+. I have had a bit of an attitude adjustment since a year ago, it has just take a long time for me to admit that I even have breast cancer (denial is very strong in me!), much less that it is a "chronic disease" but I am stronger emotionally and spiritually than I was a year ago, and am much more optimistic.
Thanks again for your support this week - it has meant a lot to me!
-
And congrats, Debbie!!! Hope you take every advantage of spoiling your grandaughter!
-
Faithie, Congrats on a new grandbaby to shower love upon!!
Linda, good job on the wt gain
and getting a "curable" diagnosis. You are strong and you will make it through this!
Bookart, good for you on scheduling that appt....I'm still putting mine off for a bit.
bcinco, exercising while sick? Take care of yourself now.
Ainm, Enjoy your DD!!
Native Mainer, I hope the tests turn out ok and I'm sure you got at least 7 points!
Patoo, great job on the walk every day! Great exercise!

Zogo, I really like your quotes, and one is especially helpful to me "You'll never know how strong you are..." Thanks!
Is this your son's first year at college? Do you have other children? Do you now have an empty nest? I know these come as mixed blessings. I don't have children, but have several neices & nephews going off to school, graduating, trying to get jobs, and a few still in grade school. It wears me out just hearing about them!
Looks to me like we are all not meeting our exercise goals, but I think it is the time of year, the crummy weather being so outrageously hot and wet, and lots of family and health issues. SO..... I think we need to spice things up a bit! This week is time for you to take stock of where you are, set a personal goal for activity and meet it.
I am starting another challenge: on the Friday check-in on Sept. 16, I will send a little prize to anyone who gets 12 points for activity for the week Sept. 9-16. OK, ready, set, GO!!!!
-
Congrats Linda on the wt. gain. Sending support your way get through whatever comes you way.
I hope all of you are doing well with the weight loss or gain battle. Many hugs and thanks to you all. I don't post often but I do read at least weekly.

Finally getting to a computer.... so Friday Check-in was a bust!
Weight down - 1 pt, Water intake 7, exercised 4 hrs = 8 pts, And, had my gyno app't that I had been putting of indefinitely = 1 pt
Total for the week. 17
NativeM sorry you had a rough week... it's all the testing that we need to go thru MRI's ultra sounds, etc... to keep checking to see if "the beast" has come back that gets to most of us. Hope this week is better for you!
-
Linda, I'm due to host a challenge, but you beat me to it. I was kind of waiting for more people to get serious and wander back after the summer was over. With the chilly weather here today, it feels like we are there! I'll post a challenge after yours, I promise. Be ready E-Labbers!
My son at college is my first baby out of the nest. Oldest of 3. His sister (16) is not fazed by his absence. The sad part is watching his brother (14) who stared blankly out the window all the way there and home. He even slept in his brother's bed the first night.
We will all adjust...it's just going to take some time.
So, I blew off my exercise for this very busy week I've had. After 10 weeks of P90X (and 3 more weeks to go) I've lost more in this week than I have any week with exercise. Not complaining AT ALL but, What's up with that?
-
Roadrunner checking in.
Maining from prior week = 1 point
Exercising = 1 point for each 30 minutes of exercise = 13 points
Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points
Meeting daily water intake = 4 pointsTotal = 21 points - over my personal challenge to stay above 20 - YAY.
Congrats Debbie. Linda - I accept your challenge because I got those 13 mostly because of the holiday weekend. I tend to get more exercise when not working (cause working puts a cramp in my lifestyle!)

Does having to job search for the first time in 25 years make me eligible for an extra credit??
Just as a point of interest and in the hopes that writing it down might make me more aware and of course any advice or suitable chastisement will be accepted - indeed welcomed!!! When I went into hospital for my recon surgery at the beginning of May I was 131 lbs I am now 148 lbs - that's a gain of 17 lbs - whaaaaat, I really must be insane to let it pile back on - what will I do - I just can't seem to get into it again - heeeeelp!!!
-
Dear Ainm, I have no advice since I am in the same place. When I first joined I was just racking up the exercise points, not eatting after 7p.m. and watching what I ate, now I just can't get back to that place, I gain and lose the same lb. or so and only once have gotten to my e-lab low once. I'll stand in line with you seeking advice. Karen
