cli1 I was using Minoxidil and Biotin before chemo because of some hair receding in the past. I kept up the Biotin during chemo because my onc doesn't like to change things… wants to make sure the SE is from chemo and not stopping or starting something new. I did stop the Minoxidil during chemo but restarted again. I have a lot of hair but I don't know if its the Minoxidil or would have happened anyway. I do notice that a lot of my receding from before is gone. I hope it stays that way.

I lost the lashes & brows 5 weeks after chemo (not completely) but they grew back pretty quickly. Then they thinned again. So far I think the lashes look fine but my brows are thinner than before chemo. It could be the Anastrozole but my onc said its from the chemo and they will grow back. It's been a while so I'm not so sure. I think it's the estrogen sucking drug that's doing it.

I also love my Raquel Welch wig, as it has really helped me through all this.  And I feel even better about it now as I got it trimmed.  The color is perfect and I am going to use it as a guide for my hair dresser for my future color. It had really tangled terribly, but love the slightly shorter length now.  It is much cooler in this heat that just keeps on and on.....

beccad - I had the same experience with eyeliner smudging until I tried MAC's "Blacktrack".  Inexpensive and stays on all day.

So has anyone seen any real results with Rogaine and is it true that you have to continue using it always?

Survivor11 I did see results with Minoxidil when my hair receded a bit. It didn't all grow back but I did get some growth. That's why I was using it in the first place. Yes you do need to continue using it but that's if it's actually having an effect. It can take 3-6 months to see results from Minoxidil so I'm not so sure the hair growth I got was because of it. I'm using it because I don't want to lose this new growth in the places that chemo fixed. Hope that makes sense.

cli thanks. Not sure which image you're looking at. Are you talking about my transition photo link? My picture on facebook? If you are talking about my avatar that's actually me in my wig 2 weeks after my 4th chemo.

cli1 my avatar is 2 weeks after my 4th tx. I leave it up so those just starting chemo will know that not everyone looks bad or feels horrible on chemo… at least not the entire time. I used to joke with my onc. She would come in and tell me how terrific I looked when doing chemo. I would tell her once I stop I'll end up looking like shit. Seriously the steroids filled out my face a little. Smoothed out all wrinkles and made me look a little younger Tongue out

Thanks for the info lago. I to was told over and over again how good I looked during chemo. Actually got a little tired of it, cause I thought, "I just felt like death yesterday, now your saying I look like I haven't been through anything?" I know it was stupid, but you know how sensitive you can be on chemo sometimes.

You did look great by the way.

I need some input and I know you gals will have the best advice.  My DS is getting married in 2 weeks and I need hair,  Nice hair.  I have 3 wigs but I am so done with them..  Local wig boutiques  are very expensive and I have been looking on line.  Actually I have seen a huge selection with nice styles. However, I am a little nervous about buying without trying.

Has anyone purchased a wig online?  If so, how was it, and any favorites out there. I am considering the brand "Henry Margu".  Please feel free and give me your thoughts.  This is a very special occasion and I need to feel comfortable.  I was not ever comfortable in any of the other wigs.  I am so overly sensitive regarding my hair. And now I will be a nervous wreck as well.

Thanks for listening and all advice is appreciated.

Survivor I heard that so many times! It used to make me mad! Many would say "I'm so glad to see you. You look so good. It makes me feel so much better". I'd always think that I'm so glad I made them feel better when I felt like death! A wig, fake eyelashes and painted on eyebrows ... Anyone can look good! Ha ha

PSU222 - I have 8 wigs because I could never get one that felt right.  When I was going back to work, I went to a wig store and found one that I was really comfortable in and that would last me awhile.  It was expensive, but it is worth it.  I figure I'll probably be wearing it for 6 more month.  I did buy 2 wigs on the TLC website.  They are cheap and they were my second favorites, but they seem to wear out faster.  I think I'd be a little scared to buy online if you don't have time to return it and get another one if you don't like it.

PSU... I bought 2 wigs from a boutique that great... I also bought a cheap one ($50) from TLC and returned it... My good wigs were ($550 and $450), but were/are super.

I noticed today my hair is starting to wave, which means it must be long enough to wave... About an inch+... i normally have a wave, but i can tell this is a WAVE.

My good wig was also about $550, but it is worth it.  My hair was pretty straight before but now it is about 3/4 inch long and soooo wavy and curly.  It is wild and pokes up funny curls all over the place.  I think it's going to be a long time before I go without a wig!

I purchased my wig online from Paula Young, I am happy with it, but I hate wearing it.

My wig is a Rachel Welch and really rpretty and I really do look like my old self in it, but like so many of yyou, I hate wearing it. I feel totally fake, feel more real in the scarves. Crazy I know, but this is who I am now, or atleast for the temporary now.

shevawn- the majority of us lost it the day of or a day before Round 2. You will wake up to a sort of pain-like feeling - like a too-tight ponytail. When you feel that, then you will know it is coming. Glad you are prepared!

Ok here I am 9 months PFC and I have given birth to a wacky new hairdo and don't know what to do with it. I want to grow it long, the way it was before, and go blonde. But for now this is what I am dealing with. It grew  a lot in the last month it seems. My avatar and the last row on my hairchart are from a month ago, seems a lot longer now. I did not add these new photos to the hairchart.

Carrol2, thank you; you are an inspiration. I am 17 weeks pfc and probably just a bit behind you at the same stage. You give me great hope that I will have a good head of hair by Christmas.

I want to investigate hair extensions. If anyone can advise me on this I would really appreciate it.

Stay patient Carrol!!  I still think it looks good - lots of texture to work with for sure, did you have that much wave before?  I can't believe how fast your hair is growing - wow!

You can maybe trim the back up a bit and wait for the sides to catch up if it's really bugging you, but don't cut it too much or you'll be unhappy because you are still wanting your long hair back! Regardless, you look fantastic Kiss

PSU222 - You might be able to try on some wigs in the store and then order same style, color, etc. online for less $.  I found my same wig online for about $100 less - but I was so freaked out at that point (just before chemo) that I didn't really care, and my insurance paid for it anyway.  Mine is a Racquel Welch Versafiber.

Carol,  I LOVE your hair.  The color looks beautiful with your skin.  It looks like a really, really expensive hair cut that you style.  You won the hair re-growth lottery girlfriend :)

Carrol I think your hair looks great too but I totally understand. I think if my hair were longer it might start doing the same thing. When you are used to having very straight hair this is weird. Part of the reason why mine is staying short till it gets back to normal. I think I have 12 more months before the old hair comes back.

Here are a couple of photos of me at the cape last week with old friends

Hi Ladies! You were SO right. My post-taxol white hair is now being caught up with lots of dark sprouts. YAY! My eyebrows are filling in fast, so eyelashes can't be too far behind. I will definitely keep my hair short, as I love it!

charlottesmama - yay for new hair!  You may notice a texture difference between the longer white part and the new dark part too.  I just noticed new baby eyelashes last week (12 weeks PFC), so excited!

SpecialK -  Great advice regarding the wigs.  Hopefully I will find one this week.  I just need to bite the bullet and pay good money for another one.  At the rate of my hair growth I am sure I will be using it for quite some time.  9 weeks PFC and this is just ridiculous!!

Bdavis - Hope you are doing well and getting your strength back asap.

Ladies,  I really appreciated everyone's input on this wig thing.  At least we can all agree on the fact that no one likes wearing them.  They are so fake and that justifies why we all feel so fake wearing them.  And then what about comfort??

Carol your hair is so thick, wavy and beautiful.  That is a style I am dreaming about.
