The E-LAB Project

Linda, Glad to see life is treating you well, I will pray your medical issues turn out positive in the coming weeks.
Well, I didn't quite make my goal of getting into the 170's but I truly appreciate the encouragement and I'm going to try and make it happen by next Friday. I did manage a 1/2 lb loss, so that is better than a gain I guess.

It's still Friday, right?
We hosted company all last weekend and went out for all sorts of celebratory nonsense. What a fiasco at the scale. Back to the birdie plan and I'm back to where I was before they came. One week to put in on and one week to take it back off again. Isn't that the definition of yo-yo!
Well, birdies. I have a new motivation.
A little RED dress!
It's four weeks till my husband's high school reunion.
I found a PERFECT red dress while we were at my niece's wedding weekend.
If fits just fine right now, but with four weeks to go till wearing it, I could really be swingin'.
So who wants to join me in the RED DRESS count-down?
Just how well behaved can I be for a whole month?
This week check-in 3 points.
Water 4 points.
Exercise. 9 points
Weight 1 point
Extra credit walked to yoga class up a mighty steep hill = 1 point
Total = 18 points and a little RED DRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+++++++Linda, keeping you in my prayers++++++++
-
Faithandfifty, YOU GO GIRL!!!! Love the red dress attitude... will we see a picture? Are you going to wear a purple hat with it? Or at least purple something... even underwear would count as far as I am concerned!
Thanks for all your well wishes. I am remembering to "just breathe" most of the time, making smoothies from a recipe that my sister gave me on our family trip to FL a couple weeks ago which is SOOOOO much better than any supplement you can buy ready-made, so am still working on getting good nutrition to keep the immune system working.
I need to keep the activity up as I find myself at my desk or computer all day getting ready for classes, and really looking forward to the work, just seem to prioritize that above daily activity which is good for my body.
-
I think I did it this week. I broke into the 170's!!!!! Now I'm crossing my fingers I can hang on until Friday!! Keep up the thin thoughts ladies.
Linda, thinking of you and hoping you are well.
-
Thanks, Zogo. Am headed for biopsy today, PET next week, they already scheduled me to see the BS.... some not-so-pretty pictures on MRI and US in August, but in July the mammogram and US looked "just fine." Go figure.
Am still "breathing", did yoga class last night, drinking another smoothie... anyone got any good recipes for these???? Getting bored here...
-
What goes in your smoothies now? You said your sister gave you a recipe? I'm always changing mine up based on what I have on hand.
-
Currently my smoothies consist of a package of soft tofu, a carton (2 cups) of plain greek yogurt, whatever frozen or fresh fruit I have on hand, tons of cinammon and a little ginger. And I try to add some flax seed when I remember, but it has this sticky quality that is a little annoying, worse than peanut butter when it gets stuck to the roof of my mouth!
The way I calculate it is about 20-25 grams of protein if I divide it into 4 servings, and probably about 200-300 calories, depending on the fruit and flax seed. I am continuing to lose weight instead of gain, wondered if there is anything else I can add that would help to add calories and/or protein. I am still having lots of problems with teeth and mouth sensitivity to crunchy or chewy things, so am not really enjoying food all that much, but I DO enjoy the taste of food (much better than during the taxotere debacle!). Thanks for any suggestions.
-
Linda, Your recipe sounds very healthy. And I absolutely LOVE cinnamon. We have a Penzy's spice store near our house and they have at least 5 different kinds of cinnamon. I'm working my way through the sampler pack to find the one I like the best. My best trick for smoothies is to peel bananas and break them in half and freeze them. Then they are so easy to drop in. With school starting next week (and 2 teenagers in HS) it is very easy to hand them b'fast in a glass.

Hi Meece and Others,
I removed myself from this thread because I was ashamed that, being Tamoxified, I was struggling so darn hard to take off 5 lbs. It was ridiculous. I was able to make a little dent of a couple pounds when I got my bike out for summer, and rode around at dusk (when it was only 88-90 degrees.)
Now it's two months later and I am 8 pounds lighter. I'm sure the biking helped, but I've been on Effexor for two months (for neuropathy) and it's like a diet pill for me. I'm not very hungry. Some gain weight on it, but I lost weight. I don't need to lose any more and if I do, I'll have to start chugging the protein drinks. I don't recommend this particular method involving a brain chemical altering drug, but I do recommend biking if you are able. It uses different muscles than just walking, it doesn't have the impact on your knees like jogging, and it creates a nice breeze on your face when temps are too horrible to do anything else.
Hope all are moving toward their desired weights. Chirp, chirp, chirp!
