Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!

I hope they're happy tears.....

Hey Patti and All:
Went to weigh-in today and had only lost a pound, but I think I was lucky to have lost even that after my Saturday night dinner and some bad choices last night!!
Yes, Patti - I don't always get all of the water down. I have to hurry up and finish it along toward evening many times and then sometimes I don't even want to do it.
Well, today begins a new WW week for me, so I'll try harder this week and see if I can do better next weigh-in. I feel badly because I haven't gone to Bally's yet and I really really need to start up my exercising again - for general health as well as helping with weight loss.
Keep going gals, and we'll help each other succeed.
Blessings,
Pat -
Oh and I have found listening to audiobooks makes walks enjoyable...not like REAL excercise!
-
I ride a stationary bike - between the mp3 and a book it's a lovely break from demanding toddlers - not like work at all!
-
Hey Friends...
Denise I think you are right
Some one here suggested
sqeezing the juice of a lemon
or orange into the water..Maybe that will help?
It is so nice to see you posting here...
Carrie I love the poster
I look forward to the
day when I step on the darn thing and smile!
Mary I will have to give the audio book
a try on days when I can not get out for a walk..I find the staionary bike boring maybe this will help...
Pat that is great
A pound lost is better
than a pound gained...And you even enjoyed a nice dinner out to celebrate Valentines Day!
I go tomorrow for my weigh in...And then I will be starting on new week with you...
I am determined to do this
because I am feeling so
much better already..Not as sluggish these days
xoxo
Patti -
Hey Diva's
It is fifty seven
degrees here today
great walking weather..I am on my way out after this post
I go for my weigh in tonight
and then onto week two
A friend sent me
some great snack
and meal plan
ideas from her WW meetings
I will post them later on
this evening...Perhaps we can do some sharing here..
Every bit helps
I think variety is key
Oh well off for a walk
xoxo
Patti
I am on my way out
for a walk -
Hello Diet Divas
I am back - some of you may remember be by monke123. I was gone for awhile...too long! I had to change my log in name. So much has gone on here its hard to keep up. This was always one of my favorite threads though!
I have gained sooo much weight since being in chemopause-maybe it's menapause who knows - the Dr's don't know.
Anyway - exercise seems to be the key - right? Well, I bought balls, bars, weights, videos, diet food you name it, I probably tried it. Finally, I went out and bought a treadmill and ready for this...I actually use it! I don't hang my cloths on it or just sit and eat cookies and look at it. I used to do the latter with exercise videos..hee hee.
Anyway - I need to get a grip and loose this weight. There is a chance I may go on a cruise end of August and want to be able to feel better about myself in a bathing suit.
I know here you gals really understand how hard it is to loose this stuff - I am hoping it is possible being on tomaxifen and all.
Anyway - I am diving in with you all.....here I go!
Missed you...Diane -
Okay, I give up-this is the heaviest that I have ever been. How do I join up? Do I have to tell everyone what I weigh? (oh no!)
I have designed an anti-cancer diet for myself, but it is pretty restrictive, so when I get the chance I do overeat and have no will power at all.
I had gained 10 pounds since I was first dx'd with bi-lat bc, Stage 4. But in the past several months while I was trying to have recon, I gained another 10 because I was unable to exercise. This was also complicated by my love for goodies during the Holidays.
I'm in.
Help me.
Denise -
Denise,
The thing that has been the biggest "shock" since I joined WW is thatI didn't eat badly, I just ate too much. Their serving sizes are reasonable (sometimes more than I would take) but where I used to go for seconds just because they were there, I now don't as I don't want to use my points that way.
That and drinking water rather than Pepsi has made a difference for me - about 8 lbs so far! -
Okay I got another little tidbit of positive reinforcement for us...my husband just told me you burn as many calories stretching as exercising...well I don't know if that is n 100% true but since I have to stretch everyday since my reconstruction surgery (my arms) I now just sit on the floor while I'm watching TV and stretch my legs/sides/back anything I can for 1/2 hour...so I'm keeping up with my physical therapy AND getting in better shape.(just remember the tortoise...slow and steady wins the race...)
-
KariLynn,
I bought the WW at home plan a couple of years ago. I have to discipline myself to count everything, and it is definitely true that if I follow the points I will lose weight.
Okay, I will start again tomorrow............
Thanks,
Denise -
Hi All You Divas out there!!! It's nice to see our group growing and growing again. We now have Karilynn, Denise, Diane, Marywo, Patti and myself. Maybe some of our other 'regulars' will join us again too - NYJanet, Lois, Cowgirl, Eileen, Theresa, Rose etc. The more the merrier as the saying goes. I know we can support each other through this with staying on course and with the exercise of course too.
I finally went to Ballys on both Wednesday and Thursday and am going again in a few minutes. I have to work up to my 30 minutes on the eliptical again but I am getting there slowly but surely. I'm hoping for some more weight loss on Tuesday - so hoping the exercise will kick in as well!!
Blessings,
Pat -
OMG Diane ...Is that really you?
I have missed you so much..
So glad you are diving in with us
I need all of you to swim
along side of me to the finish line
Denise welcome aboard...It is great to have you here..I love this plan...So glad we are all here for support...
Pat Congrats on joining Ballys...I have been walking and started to work out to music this morning..
Mary thank you for reminding us about the tortoise...I tend to get a bit anxious for quick results...I will use the tortoise analogy as my mantra...
Karilynn
I am going to choose
Life is a highway as one of my work out tunes ...
OK....
I can't hold it in any longer
I got weighed in last night...
I lost three pounds my first week...YAHOO...
So Diva's have I told you how much I love this plan...It is great...
Here's to us..
the tortoise..
and Challenges...
We all know about Challenges
beacause we were hit head on
Hang on..
"Together"
WE can
do this too! -
Congrats on the three pounds!!!
I made it to the gym 3 days this week - hubby is leaving town for the weekend so that's gonna be it until next week.
I was under 200 this morning and hope to stay there at least until Monday (weigh in day) but hopefully forever! -
We went to Applebees tonight and they have a WW points menu. I really like the Confetti Chicken and tried the Chocolate/Raspberry cake and it was good. Only cost 11 points for the entire meal - not too bad (I get 26 and earned 2 extra on the bike today.)
Last time I was there had the shrimp and chicken skewers and they could have been good had they not cooked so long. -
Can I join in? I haven't read the whole post. It's so big!
I've been walking every day for three months now. I probably walk 30 minutes at a time. I don't have a scale at home. During radiation from sep through nov last year, I was gaining probably about a pound every two weeks. I've never been a dieter or a calorie counter.
In the past, increasing my activity seemed to be all that was necessary. That doesn't seem to work anymore! I seem to have stopped the upward trend. That's fine and dandy, but I'm probably around 190 lbs, and I think I'd be much better off at 170. I've resorted to reading the labels so I might examine what's doing me in. I am shocked and appalled at how many calories and sugar are in my favorite arizona tea, orange juice, crangrape juice. Serving size 8 ounces. pshaw! Hello! I live in TEXAS! Eight measly ounces my foot. Who are these people who make those labels?
Anyway, I need to consider other choices for my next favorite beverage. What do ya'll like best? -
Patti:
Congratulations on three pounds!!!! Wow, that's great. I just haven't been doing as well this time so I hope Tuesday brings good news!!
KariLynn:
I like Applebees too although I don't get there very often. I do like the fact that they have it "all figured out for you" with the WW points etc. Sure makes life a lot easier, dosen't it??
Althea:
You don't need to ask to join us - we are more than happy to welcome you!!! Regarding the beverage of choice, I know you're probably not going to like this, but WW (and really alot of other weight management plans) suggest about 64 ounces of water (gulp) a day. They also say the diet sodas are fine but to try to make them only 1/2 of your liquid input for the day. I'm sure some of the other gals will have good suggestions as well. You are doing great on the exercise!! I think the consistency is the thing.
Well, I'm off to Bally's. I took yesterday off because I ached too much and it was too cold to walk outside (7 degrees). Well, that's my excuse and I'm stickin' with it.
Blessings,
Pat -
Althea,
Water with lemon is my drink of choice. You may have to force yourself at first but eventually you start to crave it. I also drink decaf iced tea (no sugar!)
For breakfast it's skim milk or 8oz orange juice - feel a little silly getting out the measuring cup to measure my servings (and wouldn't be able to function at a restaurant yet!) but it seems to be working.
Good luck to you and good job on the walking! -
As I type I'm sipping some hot chocolate - Nestlee Carb Select fat free with calcium is ZERO points for one cup and it's pretty good. I was afraid to try it (don't like diet drinks) but it is yummy.
-
Thanks Beach, for the welcome. Okay, I will admit that I have to lose at least 20 pounds. I do eat too much but I can't exercise nearly as much as I used to because I have Plantar faciitis in my left heel. I still use my treadmill for half an hour a day plus 10 minutes of aerobics, besides my Pilates. So I know that my heel isn't going to get better with the exercise, but I have to do something! My onc doesn't want me to go to a podiatrist as all I would get would be cortisone shots. I did have two of those shots for another foot problem several years ago and got a bad reaction to them.
But I do have an appt. with a reflexologist on Tuesday, and actually my onc. says that it might help. Hey sir, while you are massaging my feet, do you think you can make my left boob come back????
Any opinions on reflexology from anyone?
As I am Stage 4 with liver mets, he will have quite a challenge with me.
Take care all,
Denise -
Denise,
I have that problem with my left heel too. I haven't been to a dr for it but my sister has the same thing and showed me some stretches to do that have helped a little. I ride a stationary bike because I pay for it when I walk too much. Wore flip-flops on the cruise quite a bit and that was also bad - do they make orthopedic sandals???
Oh well - good news, lost 3 lbs this week!!! Actually got the form reprimand from the pc for losing over 2 lbs a week for three in a row - read on and said if it was after your first three weeks to increase your food but these were my first weeks so am going to ignore it! Am 199 - YEAH!!! Under 200 was my first goal (not theirs) so am pretty excited about it. -
Great news about the 199. Try hard to stay there!
-
Thanks! I will!!
I noticed this afternoon that they lowered my points goal from 26 to 24. Man, I was just getting used to the 26. Does anyone know how low they go with those?? I like to eat so I'll have to earn a LOT of activity points. -
Congratulations Kari...
I am going strong still
it time for weigh in again
in a couple of days
Denise how did you make out with the reflexology today? It sounds so soothing...Hope it helps..I am anxious to hear all about it...
Hi Rose nice to see you pop in here
come back and visit...Do you have any good recipes?
Well I made a pizza
with WW bagel for lunch
today added a little low fat mozzarella
and left over sauce and a sprig of fresh basil..Yum...It was great!
The bagels are so light and only worth 2 points
I have a few recipes to share..When I have a moment I will post them....
Lowered your points? OH my...How long have you been doing this? I better brace myself...Thanks for the thumbs up...I will have to find ways to gain extra points then also! -
I've only been on three weeks. I'm calling them dirty names in my head as I type this! I'll be taking credit for all housework now just to get a fudge bar (the WWs are one pt and yum.)
Hope your weigh in is happy! -
Congrats to one and all on the weight lost. The weekends can be tough. Karilynn - Applebees is great for WW. My friends and I go there and really feel like we are treating ourselves with dessert and all....if you haven't tried it yet ladies - go for it!
Hey Patti - yup - it's really me - a little rounder but me. All of a sudden I have this extra packing all around. It came in handy when I fell over the winter. Kinda like a bumble (from Rudolph) - sort of bouncy. Anyway at least I didn't break anything. But it's crunch time now - I go to the Dr's in April and they wanted me to lose 10lbs. I only had 6 mths to do this - now I have 6 weeks...yikes.
But I know we can all do this - one day - one ounce - one pound at a time. Remember don't beat yourself up for a bad day....tomorrow is another day!
Denise - I used to go for reflexology years ago. In fact my cousin's ex wife went for classes before this process even had a name. She relieved some major headaches I was having at the time. Let me know what you think!
Well ladies - another day as ended at work - time to shut this computer down. Stay well - ttyl
Diane
ps
Any American Idol fans - out there? 3 nights this week! -
Hi All Divas:
Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well out there. Kari, congratulations on the 199 - that's great!!! Yes they do adjust your points as you reach new milestones. The lowest it goes is 20. I know it seems hard to stretch out the points sometimes, doesn't it??? You still get the additional 35 points per week though to go along with the weekly number.
Patti: Your pizza recipe sounded so good!! I didn't know they had WW bagels - guess I never looked for them but I will now. Good luck on your weigh-in in a few days. It sounds as though you are doing really really well!!!
Denise - hope the reflexology brought some relief today. Wow, that condition sounds painful!!
Rose, Diane, NY Janet and all other divas - we'll just "keep on keeping on" 'til we're done, right???
Blessings,
Pat -
I finally did it! I started back on the tredmill. It took me 17 months after being diagnosed. I was doing 70 mins 4 or 5 times a week before diagnosis and then gave it up. It feels so good to start. I just hope I have it in me to continue! I love ww but haven't been putting much effort into that either, but I hope to start. This is hard. Hugs to all, Mary
-
Yeah Mary - That treadmill must be in the far reaches of your house if it took 17 months for you to walk over and get on it! But now you're back.
The first step is the hardest. -
Hi ladies,
The Reflexology went well. My plantar faciitis is actually feeling better. He also showed me an exercise to do to strengthen my calf muscle which I had seen on WebMD, but he did it a bit differently.
The interesting part was a section on my right foot that was real sore when he pressed it. He said that was my liver area (I have liver mets that are currently NED), and after some deep breathing, the pain completely went away.
I did my best-I asked if there was any place that he could press on my feet to pop out a left boob-no deal, or to control my overeating-negative there too.
We did discuss a lot of nutritional ideas.
However, at $50 for an hour, I don't know how often I can see him. I might try for the $30 for a half hour.
Starting my diet again today........
Denise
