Congrats Beth,
That's good news. I'll bet people are already noticing the new you. When you get those last 10 off, let me know how you did it. -
Beth - Congratulations on the great weight loss. You should be extremely proud of yourself, it's so hard. Are you still exercising too? I find that the most helpful. Keep up the good work. I've been "off" the past few weeks and now that the summer is "over" its time to get back on track again. - Janet
-
HI Diva's....
Beth you did it!
You should be proud of yourself ...
It is not easy ...
Janet glad I have someone to follow after...
I am still plugging along..
I had a few setbacks
but think that I am finally onto something ..
For the past
three weeks
I have been following
a low glycemic diet....
A great balance of all the food groups
with emphasis on
keeping blood sugar levels
steady and even...
veggies and proteins
loaded with fiber
My husband has been following it with me..
I must say that I feel really satisfied
and do not feel like I am on a"diet"
I have lost six pounds to date and was able to control myself over the labor day weekend...
I started walking again and hope to make it to goal
"this time around"
My "tubby" tummy is starting to go down...
That is where I carry most of my weight....
Lets get each other going again here...
I have some recipes to share....
I will post them later on....
Has anyone heard from Pat? Has she had surgery yet? Pat if you are out there I hope all is well...Miss you..
Rosemary you will be happy to know that
I have added lots of fiber to my diet!
Come out come out where ever you are....
xoox,

My friend found this recipe online...
It is great !
Blueberry Vinaigrette Recipe Blueberry Vinaigrette
½ cup olive oil
¼ cup red wine or cider vinegar
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 clove garlic minced
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
½ cup Blueberries fresh or frozen (thawed)
Combine all ingredients except Blueberries in a jar and shake until thoroughly blended. Or whisk thoroughly in a bowl. Add Blueberries. Store in refrigerator. Makes 1 ½ cups
/b]
This is great over spinach or arugala salad...
Feeling edgy and stressed today...
Why do we get hungry under pressure?
I am going to take my morning walk...
When I come back I will have a piece of fruit!!
Does anyone have any recipes to share?
xoxo,
Patti -
Patti,
You sound really motivated. The summer has made me lethargic and I have to force myself into the pool. I'm happy to hear about all that fiber your getting in. I did a cholesterol test last week and the numbers are picture perfect for the first time. That keeps me motivated to keep up the high fiber diet. It works. Thanks for the blueberry recipe and the motivation. -
Thanks Rosemary...
I am trying
I am going to make a recipe that you might be interested in tonight...It is my mother in laws recipe for escarole and beans....
3-4 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 med bunch of escarole
and one med bunch of swiss chard
1 pinch salt
1/2 to 1 cup of chicken stock of your choice-unsalted or salted
15 ounces of fresh or canned cannellini beans, drained and rinsed reserve 1/4 cup of juice from beans
parmesan cheese, (grated fresh)
In a large heavy pot over medium temperature, heat the olive oil then add the garlic and sauté about 15 seconds or so
Tear escarole and swiss chard and add to pot
sauté and stir it until it has wilted, about 2 minutes; add a pinch of salt.
Stir in the broth, liquid from beans and beans,
then cover and let simmer for 5 minutes.
Season with parmsean cheese and freshly ground pepper to taste...
Bon appetite! -
I am getting ready to take a nice walk
It is a beautiful day here
perfect for walking...
Hey Rosemary
I am glad to hear your cholesterol numbers were perfect!
That is what I am striving for...
If numbers for cholesterol and sugar don't come down soon I will have to go on meds...
I'm trying to avoid that at all cost...
I have been walking and working out at home
I find that helps me when I have a " weak moment...
My husband has been sticking to this
with me
so it makes it easier to follow
I find variety is the key....
What works for you all when you are having a weak moment?
I have another new recipe to try out this weekend...It comes straight from prevention magazine...
Scallops in 15 minutes
by Heather Ramsdell
16 sea scallops (about 1 lb)
1/4 tsp kosher salt
2 Tbsp liquid egg substitute
1/3 c sesame seeds
1 Tbsp peanut oil
1 1/2 lb baby bok choy (4 to 6 heads), quartered lengthwise
1. Pat scallops dry and sprinkle both sides with salt. Crust each scallop on one side by dipping into egg substitute and placing onto plate spread with sesame seeds.
2. Heat oil in 12" skillet over medium heat. Arrange scallops sesame side down, with space between them. Cook 3 to 4 minutes until seeds are golden. Flip each scallop over carefully without removing sesame-seed crust, and cook 6 minutes longer or until just cooked through.
3. Meanwhile, put bok choy into steamer basket over boiling water. Cover and steam 6 minutes or until just tender. Serve scallops nestled among bok choy quarters.
Makes 4 Servings
Per Serving: 224 cal, 24 g pro, 9 g carb, 10.9 g fat, 1.6 g sat fat, 38 mg chol, 3 g fiber, 411 mg sodium
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Patti,
I hate to hear that you may have to go on meds for cholesterol. Any chance you'll try my tried and true way of eating first? You won't be hungry, guaranteed.
That's a good recipe. I forgot all about escarole. I went shopping this morn and checked to see if the store carried it..they do. My MIL always made it as a side dish, boiling up the escarole lightly with olive oil and garlic. They served it in the juice and it was very good. I like the bean part of your recipe. I'll make it next week. Thanks -
I am doing WW Core Program and this is a good and simple recipe I have made several times.
Core pulled pork BBQ
1 cup ketchup
1 can Diet Coke
1 onion, diced
garlic salt and pepper to taste
1 boneless pork tenderloin
Mix all ingredients except tenderloin. Place tenderloin in bottom of crock pot and pour mixture over it. Double the mixture if you have an especially large tenderloin; the tenderloin should be nearly covered or completely submerged.
Cook on low for 8-10 hours. Shred with a fork.
** I cook for 8 hours to avoid dryness. I also use low carb or no-sugar-added ketchup. -
Thanks AAlice...
I am going to try this...My husband loves pulled pork...
Keep sending recipes when you can...
Rosemary I have been adding lots more fiber to my diet..I am going to send you a pm...Maybe you can help me...
NY Janet where are you?
Divas where are you?

I'm here. Just been busy at work lately. I'm getting back on track this week after a few weeks of being "off." It's amazing that if you have the "good" stuff in the house it's so easier to be on program. I think we've all taken a nice little vacation and now it's time to get back to reality. Patti the recipes you've been posting sound delicious and I'm going to try them. I finally convinced my hubby to start dieting with me. He needs to lose about 25 lbs. (don't know how since he eats what I cook for us for ww). Like Patti says, where are you divas? Have a great weekend everyone. - Janet
-
Janet so glad you are back...
My hubby has joined me in my "quest" too!
I have to weigh in over the weekend...
Keep your fingers crossed ladies!
xoxo,
Patti
Pat we miss you! I hope you will be up and around to posting soon...I hope each day finds you stronger... -
Weighed in this week
I was so good following my plan
and yet I only lost a half of a pound!
I am trying not to get discouraged!
I do not want to "blow it"!
Maybe I will have better results
next week
A friend sent this recipe to me today..
A nice fall recipe packed with fiber....xoxo,
Patti

GI RATING: LOW -
Please dont give up, onWW there were weeks i only lost .8 lbs but i am now a life time member it does work... just keep doing the plan...and take an extra walk for good luck...
mb -
Just think of it as a half pound lost and not a half pound gained. Remember, you probably gained it a quarter pound or half pound a week and it added up, didn't it? Be patient and keep up the good work. I lost .6 this week. I'm happy, but will try to walk a little further. Judy
-
Patti: The recipe sounds great. I had a reality check this week. Gained another 1.2 lbs, total gain of 3.2 lbs. in the last 3 weeks. (Not stressing though because I'm still a little below goal - a good thing). I'm back on track now and fully stocked with all my fruits and veggies. We are in this together and for the long haul. Where are you other divas? - Janet

Hi Divas,
Dropping in to say hello. I've been good with my exercising--but the eating is another story! I was AWOL from WW's for about 7 weeks (partly because of my DIEP surgery--mostly because I didn't want to face the scales )
I went last Sat. and I did gain a few pounds during my hiatis , so I did CORE for the first time and had two good days (Sat and Sun--even with eating out with friends) then Monday came and I fell off the wagon HARD! Help!
I'm trying hard to get my head back into WW's mode--but it's just not happening this week. Here comes the excuse--my whole family is sick with a cold/sore throat and I'm not sleepiing and soooo tired....which adds up to eating anything and everythings that's lying around !
You all seem to be doing well, any words of encouragement, inspiration are welcome and needed!
Patti--thanks for all the recipes, I'm going to copy them down and try them!
Hope you all have a good weekend ladies.
Eileen -
Hey Patti! I know how it feels to fall off the wagon. There are days I just want to be on the SeeFood Diet.
Rose had a good suggestion, don't keep those food around the house that make you go off your diet.
For instance, my son asked for Fritos. I got them for him, but who is eating them? Him? No, me. Not a lot all at once, but once they are gone, they are gone! I could be eating the pretzels, but I'd rather have the fritos.
I feel off the wagon and set a date to get back on. It's like a horse. If you fall off, get back on!
Good luck.
--Theresa -
Ladies thanks for all of the encouragement...
I really needed it...
I was about to go on a binge
I am hanging on
and hoping to have better results next
week..................
Judy and Purple you are right..
I will step up my walking ...
I have been slacking off here and there... And thanks for reminding me that a pound lost is better than a pound gained...
Janet you are right we are in this together...
Do you have any new recipes to share with us
Theresa I am going to get rid of all of the trigger foods...
Eileen great to have you back...WE missed you ...
Does anyone have any recipes or tips?
xoxo,
Patti -
OKay I am back. I have decided to join online and try to do it at the house. It is such a long drive to a meeting and my kids take all my time up at night.
So far I am only back about 3 days and I am soooo hungry, but it will pass eventually. -
I finally lost weight!
I've been watching my diet since early to mid July, but it didn't seem like I was seeing much result. I wasn't gaining any weight which was good. But, despite limiting my calories, I didn't appear to be losing any either.
About two weeks after my last taxotere (late July), my feet, especially the right one, started swelling. Quite large if I wasn't careful. Then, about a week ago, it just seemed to go away. Apparently, it wasn't the only thing swollen. Most of my body must have been swollen, because I just went from a 10 to a size 8 in about a week.
The good news is I was a 10 before the swelling started. I even tried on a 6 over the weekend. The pants were too small, but I could zip them up!
I'm so excited! And it's about time. So, if you are trying, but you don't see any progress, keep on keeping on. You never now when you will finally see progress!
--Theresa -
Hi girls! Sorry its been a while... between working my butt off (LITERALLY) and my brothers wedding, the added stress is helping to shed the weight too.
I'm really struggling at this point, because I am back to work, and no longer in the gym.
I am on my feet at work all day, and I go up and down steps about 30 times a day, which still gives me the cardio I need, but I am losing out on the weight training.
I am going to get some free weights to start lifting at home.
I've been eating whatever I want lately, a little icecream here, and lots of french toast for breakfast, but being on my feet for 45 hours a week is keeping the weight off. I have 5 more pounds to go to get to my pre cancer weight.
I know I look better than I have in a while, but if I dont start lifting weights soon, I will lose all the muscle tone I worked so hard to get over the last three months.
Looking back on the last year, and my life long weight struggle as a whole, I can honestly say that the key to a trim figure is exercise.
You can cut out and cut back on everything you want... but to tone your body, and convert fat to muscle, you have to work out.
I always shyed away from a good sweaty workout, and once I got into the routine, I saw the difference, and had so much more energy to get through the day.
I'll check back in soon....
beth -
Beth - I definitely agree with you about the exercise. I know after working out at the gym (and walking) for over 3 years now I'm definitely in way better shape pushing 50 than I was at 40. Keep up the good work. Don't get discouraged if the last 5 lbs. are slow. They always tend to be the hardest. - Janet
-
Patti you can go to the WW web site and go to the Discussion Boards link. The Core tip exchange has many recipes posted and many people have recipes in their url under their name. You do not have to be a member to go there. Just can't access alot of other information. I am reallyi enjoying the Core Program and I think eliminating sugar and processed foods eliminated alot of cravings.
-
I lost a pound! I know it ain't much but before I was back OP I was slowly gaining!
-
Congratulations. A lb. lost is better than a lb. gained. I hope I lose a lb. today at weigh-in. - Janet
-
Alice thanks for the recipe lead....I am going there as soon as I log off....
Cowgirl congrats...I am stuck this week...No loss.... But no gain either...
TheresaW sounds like you are doing great...You should be so proud of yourself...I am trying hard myself....
Beth we missed you...You are doing great..I am jealous...You are almost there..And you worked hard at it..I have been slipping on and off..I need to step up on my exercise...I like to walk...
Janet good luck at weigh in... Glad to have you back...
xoxo
Patti
no weight loss this week... but no gain either....even though I slipped and had a few cheats over the weekend... -
Hi, I'm a newbie and so glad I found this board. I was feeling like something was really wrong with me because I have gained weight with and after chemo. Here I thought you always lost weight with chemo so was thinking I'm probably the only person in the world to gain weight on chemo and really feeling depressed about the whole thing. I guess I still don't understand the whole process of the weight gain. I've been done with chemo and rads. for 6 mo. now and thought my energy level would improve but it hasn't much. One day I feel great and can really get things done and then the next day I just drag around. Anyone else feeling this way?
-
Hi All,
Just a note to let you know that we are in the path of Rita, and I won't be onboard for awhile after it hits.
The storm may have taken a slight turn to our relief, so the winds might not be as strong as first predicted.
Houston is in total gridlock since yesterday. People sitting in sweltering cars going nowhere. They haven't opened the inbound lanes coming into town yet to be outbound which is pretty outrageous. So far everyone is behaving on the stalled freeways. Only a few are jumping over to the inbound freeways. No designated shelters either for people in small houses to go to in their neighborhoods. The Mayor said well...they should have evacuated...to where, the freeway only to look at empty lanes coming into town??
My house is strong enough if this turn the storm took is holding. No large trees around me, so we'll be fine. Plus, we aren't in a flood area. So, lots of good stuff for me to dwell on. I'll talk with you all after this is over. -
Rosemary - As I said in the other post, you will be in my prayers as Rita approaches. My parents survived Charlie last year in Punta Gorda. Hopefuly it won't be too bad where you are. Stay safe. - Janet
