    Take Care Rosemary!

Beach and Janet some days are diamonds some are gold. Today I am off program! My brother is evacuating Rockport and I struggled all day to find water, I bought enough groceries for 2 big families. I think Stress is at a all time high until he is safe with us!

Dear Patti, Rosemary, Janet, Eileen, Cowgirl, Lois and all Divas: A great big "Hi" to all. What a summer it's been!!
Between Reilly's birth, two baby showers for my other daughter, Meghan, (one in Michigan, the other in Chicago), Reilly's baptism in Milwaukee, total knee replacement on August 10th and now the upcoming birth of Meghan's baby - due date October 14th but more and more looking like it will be earlier due to some high blood pressure and protein in the urine . . . Whew!!! I feel like I've been on a merry-go=round. I had physical therapy in my home for a month after the surgery and now have been going to out patient therapy for the past three weeks (3x's a week). Next week is supposed to be the last week and I think the rest I need to continue on my own. I think of you all so often but really haven't been on the computer much at all. My weight has remained pretty constant but that means it's up about 4-5 pounds from when I was going to Weight Watchers. After Meghan's baby is born and I'm back home again, I plan to get very serious about it all again. In the meantime, I'm just trying to hold my own. After therapy I am going to ask when I can go back to regular exercising again. I pray that you all have been doing well and I send my love and prayers along to each and everyone of you!!!
    God bless,
    Pat
P.S. I still don't know how to attach the pictures - sorry but take my word for it, Reilly is just a little doll. Of course, remember - I'm her Grammie!!

Pat: WELCOME BACK!! I was wondering where you've been. Glad to hear you're doing okay after the knee replacement. Two grand babies in one year-- how exciting. I don't know how to put pictures on here either so don't feel bad (although I have no exciting pictures to post). Holding your own with all you've been going through this summer is a good thing. Once you slowly start to be able to exercise again, it will come off. Take care, good luck with the other new baby. Let us know what she has. - Janet

    Hi All,

It's back to normal here in Houston. They're refilling the shelves as I type. We got to see all the devastation in LA/TX border for the first time today, it's awful for all those people and 100 degrees isn't helping them any. It's unbelievable and I feel very fortunate.

Hi Pat, it's good to see you back with us. I'm happy that the surgeries went well, you sound so good with all you've been through with rehab and all. And congrats on another Grandbaby.

Thank again all for all your well wishes.

Well the evacuees have left the area. I am still having to hunt for groceries ( that is a good thing!). Okay I know Janet knows this but I am determined to journal every stinkin bite I have, maybe just maybe I will slow down the shovel. So far every day I journal I eat less, I am down just .6 but at least it ain't up!

Pat and Patti! It is just great you are so busy! It will come off eventually!

Rosemary, I know it must be so sad there, it was so sad here to see so many with all their belongings in thier cars. The Salvation Army is doing a great job in Temple, I am amazed how much they do! Red Cross should try to keep up!

I have my own scale oddities. I keep a 5 lb weight in the bathroom and check at least once a month to see that my zero point is still true.

I am new to this web site. I am recovering from breast cancer that was diagnosed in 2004. I have already undergone breast reconstruction and am clear from any disease. I have been trying to lose weight by exercising every day and I am on LA Weight Loss. My oncologist has placed me on Aromasin. I have tried Arimidex and Femara. I have been having joint stiffness in my toes and fingers and feel like I am 100 years old. I did feel a little stiff after Cheom, but since I started taking this type drug, it has gotten worse. What is causing the stiffness? and what is the solution?

    KP,

Welcome, it's strange how some of us will get stiffness and others won't. New info out about Glucosamine/Chondroitin from the GAIT study says it works better than prescription drugs to eliminate the pain. I don't have to take it myself so I can't suggest a brand and I know that taking the right dose is important, but how much, I don't know.

Muscle pains, I know a lot about, but not too much about joints. I hope this helps. Rosemary

    Hi Gals!

I'm not around much. I lost 25# on WW Core, but DRAT I've gained back nearly 10 this summer. I need to refocus on my health by eating right and exercising. Once I have sugar I'm doomed, so I have to get off that stuff. Then I'll be OK. Wish me luck. Glad to see all of you are still around with some new people. I copied the pulled pork recipe. Sounds yummy

Sheila: I know exactly how you feel. I reached my goal on CORE but for the last 6 weeks I've been steadily gaining - not much, usually less than a lb. but I feel like I've been out of control. This week I finally lost .6 and I'm thrilled. I feel like maybe I'm finally going in the right direction again. It's so hard, even once you reach your goal weight. I still love CORE though. - Janet

Well my WI was yesterday! I lost a lb. For me I am so happy, any lb I lose is a move in the right direction.

I am reading a great book, Quit Digging Your Grave With a Fork and a Spoon by Mike Huckabee. He lost over 100 lbs. It is about a mindset about food, not a diet. Fabulous book!

Hurrah for your pound! Once you get going in the downward direction it gets easier. I think it's encouraging so you try a little harder to stick with the plan.

I saw that book at Borders this weekend. Next time I go to the library I'll see if it's in.

just wanted to check in with the divas...
I went to visit some friends this week in Baltimore, some that haven't seen me in a year...
Got two thumbs up from all, and it felt damn good.
Celebrating the BIG 28 this Tuesday, and I will allow myself to indulge.
I'm steadily dropping weight, still eating what I want- just really focusing on the exercise.
hope you are all doing well!

Beth: Happy 28th this week. Oh, to be 28! Keep up the good work with the weight loss. Exercise is definitely the key, at any age. Are you walking in the Making Strides at Jones Beach this weekend? - Janet

I'm glad to find this thread! I do WW Core as much as I can, and didn't gain weight on chemo. I've just started Tamoxifen and want to lose about 10 pounds.

Do you know why it took me so long to find this forum? I've been up on the Moving Beyond Cancer forum. The Recurrence and Metastasis Thread is below that, and I can never bring myself to even look at that title (because it scares me to death), and I never looked at any threads below it.

I can't believe I never noticed this thread. I joined WW last week for like the 50th time in the past 5 years. Each time I join though my starting weight is about 10 pounds less than the starting weight from the time before. Only I gain all the other weight back, and i usually get within 10-15 pounds of my goal and quit.

I didn't go through chemo but I've been eating nonstop since I was dx'd in July. I'm a stress eater. Honestly all this talk about Core makes me want to try it. Last week when she was going over the info, I didn't even listen to the info on Core. My son was being a bit demanding at the time. It wasn't around last time I was a "member". I just jumped into the points system. It sounds like a lot of you have lost on Core, think I'll try it starting Wednesday (after my WI).

I have about 20 pounds to lose, and I've started exercising this time. So glad this thread is here!!!

Anyone see Oprah yesterday? Dr. Oz was on again.

One of the highlights of the show was his explanation of how important it is to have a 35 inch or below waist. The extra belly fat is a big cause of plaque buildup.

I don't know which exercise to do to work on that area. I was hoping it would magically come off when the weight goes down, but it seems to need some prodding of some kind.

You can do sit-ups, but the real thing is to keep losing fat.

After my last son was born I did this Denise Austin Video for abs everyday for 3 months. I didn't lost any weight and I lost 1-2 inches off my waist. I was happy with it because my clothes fit better. That was every morning for 10-15 minutes. It's my opinion that exercise has limits for reducing your waist.

If you're a woman with a 35 inch waist that's probably at least a size 16-18? I actually like the Body Mass Index measure better because it accounts for your height. If you're tall you might wear that size and not be seriously overweight.

Okay, here I go. I will be joining weight watchers tomorrow along with my sister. I have started the plan today thinking we were going to start our meetings on Thursday. We have decided to wait until tomorrow since we love the instructor that's there on Friday. Several years ago we joined and I lost 34 pounds. I know weight watchers is a wonderful program and I can do it, I just have to stay motivated in doing so.

I have been reading this forum and it's helped motivate me tremendously. I will be checking in here weekly giving my weigh in details and I hope that some of you (Rose & Tina) will hold me to it.

Here's hoping and praying all goes well.

Carolyn - You're gonna do great!

Weight watchers should sponsor this site, it seems like that's everybodies favorite way to get back into shape.
