Mary - Uncle Bill's is a place that Marybe's Uncle Bill has in the Ozarks. Some of us have been planning for almost a year to meet there in September. Sorry, I though everyone knew about it by now. Fingers crossed that your new round of tests come back with all good news.
The onco thinks I have a staff infection from digging in the yard with my bare hands, pulling weeds and planting flowers. He told me to stay out of the yard with all the weeds and ants and other bugs and to keep taking the Rxs that he gave me on Friday. He will see me again on the 2nd and we will see where things are then. That is when I was already scheduled to get my next Aredia IV and my next round of blood works. The labs from 2 weeks ago did not show any signs of an infection so he will be sure to watch my white and red blood cell counts with the next round.

hey ladies.. short version.. the thing i did not want to hear; but it now makes sense..."they've got to WATCH it till sept..
gonna give me synthyroid till then, then test again. step 2; if thats not successful, is to take the radiation pill; which should kill it off. Surgeon said with all the infections, he wants to avoid surgery untill i've had time to get stronger.. i hope and pray this is the answer.. i feel im in good hands, they both cked me, and LISTENED, thats' all i wanted!!
we have a plan in place, and i always feel better with a plan. they also told me in over 20 yrs of practice; they've NEVER seen bc met. to the thyroid.. more like chemo got me again... im really ok.. and, if the synthyroid works, i'll be good to go toMecca!!
Amy JO; MARYBE... wear gloves in the garden. theres' too many bacterial agentds in soil!!!PLEASE>>>>>>
what anti b's did they give you, AJ? and did they culture???..3jays
-
3jays - That sounds very promising.
-
(((3jays))) So happy they are finally getting somewhere with this! AJ, you better put those gloves on, girl! Mary, I wish the timing was different.
-
Oh Marybe ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
-
What BarbA said. ((( all )))
-
OK, I am staying out of the yard, at least for a while. It is too hot to be out there anyway. I think I may put on rubber boots and gloves and go dig in the pond. I have some aquatic plants that are too big for the little water garden I have on the back porch. I can just throw them at the edge of the pond and they will plant themselves, but it is more fun to dig in the mud.
They have me on cephalexin, I am allergic to so many things and fortunately I respond well to small doses of the ones I can take. Last time they gave me 250 mg 2x a day and this round it is 300 mg 3x a day. It is already a whole lot better, unless I get too hot or stay on my feet too long. No more all day shopping trips.
I still have 7 more days to go then we will see if this has done the trick. Promise no more digging or pulling weeds without gloves. Still don't know how that caused my feet and ankles to swell so much and cause a rash. So no more running through the grass barefoot.
Marybe - lots of prayers and hugs my dear friend.
-
i'm glad to read your'e feeling better (on another thread) . make sure you take them ALL!!! next time, if there is, ask them to culture it. they may not be getting to the root of the problem and it might bc chronic... always culture, its way more specific.. and wear gloves!!!love ya, AJ im gonna stop being a mothe rhen now hahah
yeah, me too, ladies. id love to get a good life going, and pray that little pill will be the start. it'll take awhile, he says..but im all in..........3jays

Sending healing hugs to AJ and 3jays. Anxiously awaiting mecca in the Ozarks!

Goooooood Morning Ladies.....Remember Robin Williams in that movie where he was the radio DJ. So what is everyone's agenda for today? I don't have to be at work til 10 so that is nice. I tell you the more time I have off,the more I think I could do this....it's nice being home and thinking hmmm, I sort of feel like a nap and then actually being able to take one.....but normally I get distracted on the way to the bedroom. My DR table and the rest of the house are a mess, but I really don't care.....I have places to go and things to do and miles to go before I sleep ( someone has that quote in their bio) ....and cleaning takes too much time.
Thanks for all the good wishes, thoughts and prayers about my liver....as usual I have adjusted to the news and life goes on. I am going to tell my onco here I want to try Xeloda since that is what the onco at MDA recommends and has been recommending for about a year now. I am also going to plan another trip to go back there since I have met my out of pocket and really was impressed with no only the doctor, but the entire operation.
Yesterday I got a cortisone shot in my shoulder that has been bothering me (it is my largest area of mets, next to my sternum) and it is feeling much better.
Have a good day everyone.
-
'Morning ladies;
best wishes to all for a good day, in some way.
BarbA, when you go to Uncle Bill's (or have an outdoor afternoon party) -- take balsa airplanes. What a hoot they are! (I can't post this on the 'more sense' thread, they'd have to ban me....)
I took a flyer and ordered a case of 30 small balsa planes for my bday party for favors. We have a relatively big yard - and it was such fun to see so many serious grownups just letting go and having a good time. Guests included doctors, nurses, lawyers, scientists, engineers, loggers, treetoppers, teachers, musicians; and ages ranged from 5 to 90. Everyone got in on the air show. I wore the tiara my SIL gave me last Christmas, all day. So many musicians in the group that "happy birthday" sounded like the Tabernacle Choir - I think it's the first time I've ever heard it sung on-key!! It was a perfect day.
I'm still catching up on laundry.
-
L_C what a cool idea! I think while I am at it, I will get some bubbles. I loved blowing bubbles.
So glad the party was fun and not a chore for you! Happy belated BDAY!!
-
Bubbles: Walmart $1 toy aisle has bubbles in long colored/clear plastic tubes - about 12" long, with a long slender bubble wand inside. These were voted best ever by several moms & grandmas at the party -- some iridescent factor in their recipe -- well worth $1. Besides the planes, we had bubbles, noise sticks, and a putty called Flarp that looks like play-doh or silly putty but instead makes totally disgusting noises. It also was a hit (not as much participation as the airplanes, but tears in eyes laughter by most all ) -- DH was totally surprised by that but I wasn't.
All from the same $1 toy aisle.
Edited to add, DH went out into the woods and picked me a huge bouquet of Tiger Lilies.
-
Awww, L_C, romance lives in the high country!
-
Romance + Ridiculous = Celebrate!
-
L_C - sounds like you had a blast. So glad you had a good time and everyone enjoyed the party with lots of laughter.
Barb - the bubbles might need to wait until we get to Branson - you know how airlines are about liquids.
-
Right, I can stop on the way from the airport. I'm sure there's a Wally World. Chrissy said she wanted to go to one.
-
Barb - there are at least 2 Walmarts in Branson.
-
Walmart!!! Good grief. they are everywhere!! Bentonville,AK is the home of Sam Walton you know and Shell Knob is Southern MO.....very southern, almost AK.
-
We don't have them here. We do have something called The Warehouse which is a smaller version.
-
Marybe, Robin Williams ... Good Morning VietNammmmmm
All tests done Wednesday were good
Thanks to all who offered up prayers for our silliness in worrying each and every year. I'll take them every time.
Hugs
-
Mary, you down the shore this weekend? Stay cool!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
-
Way to go Mary..
-
Mary - glad all the test came back good.
-
Barbara, yes, we're at the shore. Too hot to do much outside though ... this heat (over 100) wipes me out if I'm outside for more than 5 or 10 minutes so I spent most of the day indoors reading on the couch in the air conditioning. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday anyway you look at it
Hoping to go to the beach tomorrow morning before it gets too brutal. Fingers crossed
-
Mary - hope tomorrow is a lot cooler for you so you can enjoy at least a little time on the beach while you are there. In any case get lots of rest and drink lots of water and most of all have some fun.
-
Amy, I'm very lucky that it takes little to make me happy ... if I can't make the beach, another couch day works just fine. I work my butt off 5 days a week so I feel no guilt about lazy weekends. Of course, beach is always better
Not predicted to be much cooler so right now the plan is to get up early (meaning I should head to bed soon!!) and do the beach before the worst heat of the day. I'll let you know how that plan works out.
-
I think today is a pool day followed by a sampling of microbrews at the local tap house. That'll work.
-
The heat here is unbearble. I go outside for 5 minutes, feel sick, come inside cool off a little then throw up then cool off and take a nap. I don't know if the heat or the higher strength pain patch that is making me sick, or if it is a combination of the two. I really would like to be able to go outside to sit on the back porch for longer than 5 minutes.
-
Well, it was warmer here today at the ocean than it was at home in Philly!! So we stayed here, we're not fools who just go to the beach for sake of going. Turns out we got storms that shut down power, so we took naps! Woke up, still no power, but luckily a few degrees cooler outside so we sat out, ate ice cream from freezer so it wouldn't melt to nothing, then poof...4 hours after it went off, it came back - wooo hooo!!!! Wasn't feeling too spirited or too lively at that point
