So while you were thinking about what kind of dog to get ... the dog meant for you just popped up and into your life.  Funny how that works

Gracie...I love Coton du Tulear. My intro to them was last year on an Alaskan cruise. There was a magician on board who used their Coton du Tulear ("Indy") "In dee" show.

Alpal - glad you feel at home again. I'm ashamed to admit it, but when I first moved to an apartment in another city ages ago, I told myself that I would really feel at home when I could sleep in on a Sunday and not care. When that time came, about two months into my move, I felt secure. Nothing bespeaks home sweet home like laziness.  Your sense of home sweet home is far more productive than mine!

On the other subject - I ended up with a large bag of peas on that sore area and it helped me through the night but then again today I was hurting.  I must have pulled something but have no clue how I might have done that.

Jancie, what you have described does sound as though it might be inflammation of the sciatic nerve (especially since you didn't have an injury).  If the bag of peas helped, then perhaps you need an anti-inflammatory such as advil (extra strength!) plus more icing to reduce the inflammation.

I had a very sore shoulder a few years ago. As the dys went on and it got steadily worse, I finally went to the doc who suggested advil, which worked.  Have also had physio for another injury (hip) and that's when I learned about icing + an NSAID like advil.

BTW, I have no financial interest in the makers of advil!  It just happened to work for me.

Aren't there birds called indigo buntings? I have bunting, but my porch railing is currently obscured by an evergreen bush we call "the messy head of hair," so I think the bunting will wait until next year. We were gone all day and now it is night and stormy, so the flag will go up tomorrow.

Happy 4th all from beautiful Miami Beach! I will try to get pix of the South Beach and Bal Harbor fireworks for you. Should be a great beach day here. We are in in North Beach around 68th Street. Nice views.

Athena, the fireworks are better on TV in air conditioning with the PBS broadcast sound simulcast on WETA-FM on your stereo. Bathrooms and food right at your fingertips ... I went regularly to the Mall the first 10 years I lived here, but then I couldn't take the heat and the crowds anymore.

Not to mention Porta-Potties that have been cooking in the sun in 90+ degree heat all day in crowds. :-o. (My iPad doesn't allow BCO's emoticons to show up...)

I'm doing the laundry after an excellent Canada Day family weekend at my brother's cottage. And clearing the cherry pits off my patio after the squirrels and crows ate the cherries from my tree, dumped the pits and some of the skins. Some years the people get the cherries. This wasn't one of them.
