Linda, checking in with the Flock. This has been my best week ever as I am on vacation, have been doing very healthy things for myself.
Gaining from prior week for those who need to gain = 2 points (eating lots, increasing protein intake)
Exercising = 31 points! I have been doing yoga and hiking trails daily this week!Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points
Water = 7 points1 "Extra Credit" point: One day I finally woke up and gave thanks that I woke up (first time since my diagnosis - mostly I have been waking up thinking ugh, I'm still here... would have been easier to just not wake up). This is a tremendous change for me, and I have accomplished my mission: Survive to Enjoy Life! Thank you all for helping me see opportunities for baby steps toward healing.
Total: 44 points! (an all-time high, not likely to be repeated!) So put me in the contest this week, Ainm! Thanks!!!

Here is the reason for my success this week:
-
Oh Linda, The photos are breathtaking. What a lovely forest! Congratulations on gaining weight AND on gaining a change in attitude. I'm so happy for you.
Checking in for Rockin' Robins:
Friday 3 pts
Water 7 pts
Wt same 1 pt
Exercise 9 pts
Ex Cred 1 pt.
I have been thinking about it for some time and finally bit the bullet...I started P90X on Monday. I can't do all the ab work b/c of my diep tummy incision, and I can't do push ups or pull ups (yet, maybe by day 90). But, I have followed the videos for 4 days now (and not lost an ounce) and I do feel like I have more energy. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has tried this...
Total 21 pts

I am frustrated!

***Congrats for weight losses and doctor's smiles in recognition of making good choices.
***Big wonderful hugs for re-claiming 'life' in the midst-of-it-all!!!!!
-
PatMom, I feel your pain as I've been frustrated for several weeks as well. I'm getting ready to introduce more strength training and hopefully that will jump start my metabolism again. But we have to remember what our bodies are dealing with, me it's the Arimidex, which is making it an uphill battle. I keep reminding myself that although it's about keeping off the weight and losing, the bigger picture is my overall health. HUGS

Friday check in = 3 points
Water = 7 points
Exercise = 8 points
Weight = up .2# - does this count as 1 point for Maintaining or 0 points for gaining?????
Extra credit = 1 point - still taking my lunch to work (2 days this week) and didn't eat any chocolate covered macadamia nuts!
Total = 19 or 20 points depending on weight
Didn't make my 1 point increase from last week. I don't get in the hat!
Wow! 44 points! Go, go,go, go!
-
Roadrunner checking in:
3 pts for Friday check-in - just made it on the actual day!
2 pts for weight loss! I am still over my elab high point, dang it, but down from the all-time ever high. Won't say how much that was. I'll let you know when I get under 211 again. Sigh.
7 pts for water - drinking it up!
6 pts for exercise
1 pt for finishing PT - I'm healthy as I'm likely to get as far as joint, ligament and muscles go. Doing my exercises and stretches at home and at gym on my own now. Hopefully that will help with the weight loss - it's been awhile since I've been healthy enough to really do anything other than walk a little.
19 pts - I think I qualify, Ainm - put my name in your hat!
Also, not that I'm any kind of expert, as my weight struggles show, but Patmom - what about trying intervals? This means to change the pace of your walk - start slow for 5-10 minutes, increase your pace for 5 - 8 minutes, slow back down for another 10, etc. Some people say that it boosts metabolism, which burns more calories. Also weight training, even a little, can increase metabolism as even resting muscle burns more calories.
Have a good week, everyone!
-
OK - so far the following appear eligible for the mini challenge
don23
n3ypb
zogo

If I've left anyone out let me know - I'll probably 'pull the name out of the hat' about this time tomorrow so that I'll have it sorted before I head into hospital on Wednesday for a bone scan, blood tests etc - I imagine I'll be out again on Thursday but I don't know how long I'll have to wait for results - I seem to be comfort eating for ever!! LOL
-
Ainm, I will be sending positive thoughts your way! Let us know how you do. - Linda
-
Good Luck Ainm on your scans!!!
-
I will keep good thoughts Aninm!

Sending calming thoughts your way, may all the scans be clear. Karen

-
((AINM)) - clear scans, clear scans, clear scans! Sometimes comfort eating is all that is between us and a world-class heeby-jeeby freak-out. So cut yourself some slack.
-
Good luck to Ainm on your scans.
