Oh Faithie, I'm so sorry for all the difficult things happening to your loved ones. Please know that you are cared about deeply, and that you and your family are being prayed for. Sending hugs.
-
Faith, I am sending my prayers and hugs your way as well. One thing is certain in this life: everything changes. I just hope things change in a positive way for you VERY SOON. Life can be so very overwhelming at times, so take just a minute to BREATHE in LOVE, breathe out all the negative stuff, and know that you are loved.
I am checking in with the Flock:
Maintaining from prior week = 1 point
Exercising = 22 points (I only counted 1/2 of my organizing/decluttering hours as some of the time was actually sitting, but I think I still underestimated the amount of actual activity - might have earned a few more points!)
Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points
Meeting daily water intake = 5 points (bad week for this - just got distracted!)
"Extra Credit" points = 1 (went to have the NP just "check" my breast, ended up with mammogram, ultrasound, and 4 hours later the radiologist said "nothing new to be worried about" so I guess this is the "new normal" for me; also started a new tap dance class and am loving it!)
Total Points = 32
Have a great weekend everyone!
Linda

Exercising = 6 points
Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points

faithie, I am so sorry and will keep your family in my prayers.

So much to report.
All good.
Hallelujah's in order!!!!
(forgive me for copying this from an email)
Thank you all for your continued support as always. There has been much improvement in my brother's situation since I posted this last night. I have spoken to his nurse on ICU twice today and even between phone calls there has been improvement. He is no longer being kept in the coma-state and has been responsive to instruction.
HALLELUJAH.He is on a pain IV 24/7 so he is being kept comfortable. His care giver is very supportive & insightful.
Everyone in our family loop is now up-to-date so I plan to put something more public on my 'FB wall'. I didn't do that earlier as we were awaiting my sister getting the news. I have spoken w her this morning. The wedding of my niece, Kelly, is to go as planned. We will be there for those festivities later in the month.
Again. Thank you for your support thru the rough waters. I am forever grateful to know that I have a group to call upon when needed.BTW. This is my older brother, Dan. He is now breathing on his own (for the last hour) and SPEAKING!! He wants to eat but they are holding him off of that request for a while. He also wants to use the phone & they have counselled for him to be patient w that request as well.
The ICU nurse said that the next 24 hours are the "meat & potatoes" (direct quote) as to the future and his breathing/oxygen/lung-funcion etc. The nurse said he seems to be a very 'strong & determined' man.
I am still in the midst of packing all of my gear for the Vegas adventure. I am somewhat organized tho not exactly packed to walk out the door.
I will continue to call the hospital and run interferance for my parents -- giving them the reports.
xx00xx00xx00xx
Thanks again for the international prayers

Faithie,
Such a lot to cope with!! My thoughts are with you. I hope your brother will continue to improve and that your daughter is well now too. Stay strong and don't forget to look after yourself ! ((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))
-
Debbie - God's strength is yours to lean on, I know you know that. I pray that all will be well.
Sorry, Roadrunners, for missing the Friday check-in. I had a full day of work and didn't make it home until 1AM, then had to be back up at 7AM for another full day at another job. So weigh-in had to take a back seat, priority-wise. I weighed earlier in the week and was down below my E-Lab high, so I was pleased with that. But who knows what it was by Friday!
It is SO hot here in North Texas - we are melting. 100+ degrees Farenheit. Ugh. Everything is sere and burning up. Believe me, I had no problem with 7 days of full water intake.
My exercise this week consisted of walking at the lake with the dogs, framing artwork, and installing artwork - some more strenous than others; I also made it to the gym once.
so - 1 pts for checking in, period, and not flaking out entirely
7 pts for water
10 pts exercise
0 pts weight
18 pts total - hopefully, next week I can do better. (edited because I'm an artist, not a mathematician)
-
I haven't checked in for a while but I have been working like crazy weird hours. One week I worked the midnight shift to cover some training with my nursing assistants. Then I had a nursing assistant call off on the 4th of July and had to go in on 2nd shift because we can't have any overtime and all my part time people were already working since I had 2 people already on vacation. The next night I had a lady that had given me her notice (she is a nursing assistant as well) and had refused to work out 2 weeks and only gave one week, well she called off on her final night and I had to go back in on 3rd shift. Then a day later I had a nursing assistant get hurt but she had come into work even though she had a doc excuse to be off 3 days and I had to cover the floor on day shift. Sound like fun... NOT! It's been busy and bad on the body. But I have been missing all of ya'll.
Faith I hope everything is o.k. will your family. Take care
-
Hope the week is going well for everyone. So far so good for me although we had work men in today and they didn't eat all the scones I baked for them to have at their tea break - there are four scones calling to me but I'm trying to ignore them!! I may have to force feed them to my DH to remove the temptaion.
Pre booked tickets for the new Harry Potter movie today - the end of an era and the first Harry Potter movie that I'll go to without my DD - she's booked to see the mindnight showing on Thursday in Seattle!! I must remember to check in here before I head off to the city on Friday!!
-
Hi all. Signing off soon but wanted to tell Faithie that my prayers are still going up for your family.
Reminder to let me know on Friday's checkin is you made the 25 pts last week or this week. I realize it was a tough challenge (too tough maybe?).
Night all.

More good news about my brother's progress: he was moved out of ICU about 3 hours ago to a step-down unit. I was able to speak to him directly tonight, in his relocated room and there's a hint of 'human' to his gravel-sounding voice. In any case, it's huge progress!!!
I am set to fly out of Vegas tomorrow on a 6:00 a.m flight, meaning I will need to get up before 4. Ye gads who scheduled this nonsense on my behalf??
Mimi, it's always good to hear from you. Hang in there. I have such an enormous appreciation for those in health care -- as a result of my brother's story. Thank you for everything you do.
Thanks to everyone here for all of your encouragement and support -- in every way, but especially from this chapter with my brother. I know that I am going to have to begin all over again this Fri and am grateful to get a chance to start all over.
Life. It's a good thing.
Eat less.
Move more.
Rinse. Repeat.
-
faithandfifty, so glad to hear your brother is feeling so much better, that move out of the ICU is a really good sign. Sending prayers and continuing warm thoughts your way. Karen
-
faithandfifty, you and your family continue to be in my prayers and thoughts. Glad you got some good news, hoping more is coming your way.
Karen, I lived outside Rochester NY for about 8 years. Miss the area terribly! Did you go to the cancer center in Buffalo for treatment?
Linda
-
Hi n3ypb, after I discovered the lump, I saw my gyn who recommended the Wende Logan Young Breast Care Center as the best clinic in the area, they were very impressive and the care was awesome, it is in Rochester. I asked for their recommendation for my BS, who is also in Roch. at Rochester General Hospital, he works in the Breast Care Center there and works closely with my MO who is at the Lipson Cancer Center. Rochester is slightly closer to Batavia than the downtown located Roswell Cancer Institute. I was seeing a local MO but was not impressed with him or my PCP, so I kicked both of them to the curb and put together my own team, I am very satisfied with the team I have. I bet you miss some of the food items specific to WNY and with the hot weather we are having, I could stand 5 min. of snow each day, just 5 min. though to cool us off Where are you located now? Karen

Robin checking in (I figured if I don't do it now I won't have the nerve later):
Weight--I gained.......don't need to and trying to lose. Do I loose points?
Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points
Meeting daily water intake = 7 points.,I was a slug this week and just could not exercize no matter how good my intentions were. If I don't lose points it is 10 measly points.
-
bcinco, you never lose points, a wt gain is just neutral. Robins will happily take any points. I'm sure you did some moving around that would count as a few points....sluglike or not. Just reset the clock...today is the start of another week! Thanks for being the first of the day to check in!
Faithie, good news about your brother! Sounds like he's at least moving in the right direction.

Karen333, second time I heard "Batavia" this week. My pastor was up there there week seeing friends as he travelled through to Albany. I joked with him that it sounds like the hometown of Batman and Robin.

Hi Karen! Sorry for the late check-in, both my kids were away all week on a mission trip at the Navajo reservation...my DH and I decided to surprise our DD and paint her room her two favorite colors (NEON lime green and orchid purple). Up at 6am to do edge work, work a full day, paint and organize until 10 pm...Of course they got home two hours early today so no time to do the finishing touches but she is in heaven!
