I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

Health care is a basic human right. Why do we argue about that? It is a given in every other developed country. Taking away Medicare and giving tax breaks to corporations shows what we value and it is sad. Corporations should make profits and pay taxes on them. I'm sure GE is just one example of companies that pay little or no taxes.
It is one thing to be against a new program of health coverage for all and another to dismantle the program that covers the most vulnerable in our society. My MIL lives on Social Security. She can't pay thousands or even hundreds more for health care. Do we as a society only value people who can add to the bottom line right now and abandon those who have done so in the past? Or those who may never be able to contribute? It is really an awful commentary on some elements in our society.
What elements in our society do I honor? Those who contribute and have contributed to our national defense, those in government who are truly public servants and parents and teachers everywhere who instill in their students the truly American virtues of self sacrifice and compassion for the less fortunate.
Edited because I can't type... and there are probably still mistakes...ah, well

It is 50 now but will be 85 -90 this weekend. The lake in my backyard looks really good now. We have had so much rain that the lake is IN MY BACKYARD now but the house is on a hill and we're okay. Will be better than okay when I am floating out there on a raft or swimming or paddling my kayak. Long weekend here I come.
-
Hi Athena, missed you!
-
-
ROFLMAO. There go those pink lobsters again!
-
Oh you can tell there's a weekend coming up. Come what may I am in laid back long weekend mode. Everybody have fun and be nice
-
I have my tinfoil hat on.

In my last posts I forgot to welcome Hera. It is always good to see new posters. The fact that your very first post on a breast cancer support board is finger puppets shows that you have a unique view of the world. And the fact that you chose this thread is very interesting. I look forward to finding out more about you.
-
Everyone is welcome. Puppets, puppet masters.....U never know who it might be. Wish they hadn't deleted the other thread though. Some of my best material went poof. Such a shame.
-
You really are an Andorian??
-
I like these much better!
-
But of course I am!
-
Derek Sanderson is at the Bruins/Tampa Bay game. Are you getting nervous Barb?
-

Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right.........Here I am.......hehehehehe!
-
Blue, I can't believe you found a picture of me that was taken during chemo. I thought I'd deleted all those files.
Heck, those were just finger puppets in that other post. These are sock puppets:

You got it Blue...Sock puppets we don't need no stinkin' sock puppets.
They are cute ones though otter.
-
LOL Otter....My grandson would love those!
-
Blue: Your best lines are ahead of you my dear. Otter, glad you are joining in the fun. Barbara, Rosemary, nice to "see you"! I came very close to participating in that other thread but I was feeling too acerbic and sarcastic and decided to keep my fingers to myself.
Doesn't it drive you nuts when people write "u" instead of "you"?
-
Athena, you have been missed!
-
Athena - I'm so glad to see u. We've been missing u.
-
Well, I am joining E under her bed with Robert. WAHHH!
-
It is always good to see you Athena.
-
Hi Everyone!
Athena .. this "u" business drives me nuts! I don't text so I don't use those shortcuts .. and they are very hard to read.
Hope everyone has a great day,
Bren

I love Blue's finger puppets. When I decide it's time to morph into a puppet, I will return as Barlowe. What a cute face!! Wait, true puppets never give up their identities!! Okay. Never mind.
-
Barb, it was a GOOD game!
Bren, glad to see you back or as one would say on MSN c u back! Hope there was not too much damage.
Off to do my Saturday thing. See you all later.
-
You're right, Blue. It was an awesome game. Just didn't end the way I wanted it to. I am headed to the pool to float. Too hot to do anything else.
-
Barbara -- I know you're feeling "blue" today but the Bolts really did play a magnificent game, and Roloson was outstanding. Simply a stroke of bad luck (for Tampa) that Boston got the only goal of the game.
GO CANUCKS!
-
Barbara -
There's always room under the bed for one more! And yes, the Bolts were outstanding, much as it pains me to say that. ;-)

I teach an oral communications class, and it irks me that students use the texting abbreviations in their presentation powerpoint slides. I mourn the demise of our language as we know it...
