Marybe's bucket list item!! Bruges!
-
3Jays I'll pray, I'll lite a candle...hell, I'll bite the bullet and even pour a drik so I can toast you!!! Lisa, what a cool collage, that is truly awesome.
-
Oh 3jays, I am saying my prayers for you.
H&S, cars are a PIA.....it seems the nicer the car the more they charge you to take car of it...especially foreign cars....I think they penalize us for not buying American....just kidding. They charged for changing the oil and service in my new MINI which is supposed to get everything free for the lst two years because Tim took it in in 600 miles too early for the oil change!! Now I would not think that would be a big deal and that since it is under the two year time frame they would just pay for it as long as I am not expecting them to do this every month, but Noooo.
I got my 2nd treatment and all is well. The PA said the hair will go gradually, will just thin out and I will know when it is going. won't go in clumps. She said I may not ever feel bad on this treatment some don't, but so far all their patients have had neuropathy. I went to the helthfood store and got the vitamins and supplements BarbA and Lago recommended for neuropathy.....this will be something new for me as I NEVER took vitmins....oh except for Vit C, I load up on that if I think I am getting a cold My white count was down to half of what it was last week so tomorrow I go in for a neulasta shot and they said that will probably cause bone pain....I said Great, I am working Friday AM and she said I will probably be fine Friday. So all is well with the world AND I am getting votes....thanks to all of you who are voting for me.

I had a wonderful surpirse waiting for me on the porch when I got back from dinner this evening. There was a UPS box and I assumed it was something music related for Tim, but he says it is for you, Marybe from some berry place. It said Shari's Berries on the box and said Once opened, contents may disappear immediately and I am thinking WTHeck, is this something that was supposed to go with my vitatop muffin order? So I opened it and inside were the biggest, yummiest looking, chocolate covered strawberries I have ever seen. And a little enclosure card that read Love you, Barb. The A after Barb's name stands for Angel. Just the perfect end to what was a really good day already in spite of the fact it was a chemo day. The wonderful friends I have made through cancer has made it all worth it. The box was right....will disappear very rapidly.
Ummmmmm, gooood!
PS/ SV called me and she is sounding really good....see, it really was a good day.
-
Where has Barb59 been? Or does she post on the other one?
-
Very nice Marybe
-
Awwww.....that is so sweet, Barb! Makes me smile, you are an angel!
Marybe - WOW! What a yummy surprise and makes for a nice, sweet ending to a nice day! Good to hear SV is doing well and so glad to hear you are doing well with the Halaven. Looking forward to hearing the markers are going down!
Ugh, about my car....I bit the bullet and said, "go ahead and fix it". I had really planned on keeping it just another year or two, but after this investment I'm going to have to keep it for a while. It's okay, it's fun - a black convertible. Barb, my first one was a red Saab, too. It was my favorite until one day they gave me a black convertible loaner, and then I fell in love with it. I've had this one for about 7 years - no trouble at all, I guess because in the late 90's Saab hired some guys from Volvo to fix their performance. But, it's been trouble now and it just better not let me down again!
-
3jays, you're in my prayers along with everybody else's! Hope all goes well.
Marybe, you're right, Barb is an absolute angel! Those strawberries are so beautiful I'll bet you just hate to eat them. NOT!!! It sounds like so far, so good with your treatments, and I'm glad you aren't experiencing side effects. Hopefully (prayers for you, too) that will continue to be the case. Maybe the vitamins will help prevent neuropathy, and it sure can't hurt to try.
GS is spending the night with us and my days of saying how easily he goes to bed have ended. Usually he's down by 7:30 but tonight he kept practicing getting out of the crib, got quite good at it, too. Finally went to sleep in my lap sometime after 10:00 and I'm hoping he'll sleep late in the morning!
Glad you got your car fixed, HnS!

thanks for the candles, and prayers, ladies.. had the neuro appt today, and am a happy camper. it seems he saw me years ago, when i had one of the big strokes i had.. can you say CRS??? haha anyway, he is complete agreement with the way i've been handling my ms. the drugs are too dirty for someone as sensitive to drugs, as i am.. inteferon, and the lot. He was preety impressed with the exam, and that i get cultured every month for bacterial infections, and am in PT as soon as a new problem shows up.
he also agreed that the tests the other Dr. was running were BS.. he said he didn't need ANY of them, but to route them to my GP. so i 'll do that. he gave me a new antiviral to keep me healthy, and one of the SE's is it deals with MS fatigue. if it doesn't keep me from sleeping im in like Flynn. will try it tommorrow. then, on to PT and thast was good too. had to ice for a few hrs after working out in the pool, but rome wasn't built in a day.. all seems to be going the way its' suppossed to, so i'll just go with the flow, and see...
He agreed the other dr. was trying to re invent the wheel. at 61; he feels what i got is what im gonna get, and im still walking, if a little strangely, off balance.so, im really happy with the results. thanks so much... i just keep saying God loves me, im still here, so i gotta keep on going..., im gonna look up that site. thanks GramE..
-
3jays - sounds like you've found the one! Funny you've seen him before, CRS is running rampant on these boards!
Yes, Rome wasn't built in a day - I've got to remember that, too. Little by little gets the job done.
Kathy - my car is not quite fixed, it's going to take at least 2 days. I tell ya, after I pay that bill, I'm going to splurge and get it detailed. And Monday the high will be in the low 70's so I'm going to ride around all day with that top down and my music blasting! (the top hasn't worked in a while so I'm suffering from withdrawal...) hmmm....maybe I'll scream, too. I used to like to do that at night with the top down - REALLY relieves frustration!
-
{{{3jays}}} I am so happy your new doc is not a moron!!!
HnS, I really did love my Saab. Always wanted a ragtop.
Kathy, missed you!
-
Where is everybody?
-
Well, knowing this group of ladies, they are probably out scuba-diving, or deep-sea fishing, or maybe it's time for archery practice!
-
since you mentioned it...
-
Well I have just got back from the gym. Mad old lady I say. I am exhausted to say the least.
-
We bought a pound of chocolate from this store in Bruges
-
When I was a kid, my father used to take us out for archery. He was always into something, and took us along for his sport of the week. My brother has our old target - I'm going to ask him to set it up sometime so I can try it again. Ouch - same side as my lumpectomy, though. Still, I want my son to try it, too.
EDIT: He says he's done it on his Nintendo Wii....riiiight. Kids today, sheesh!
Lisa - that is what I DREAM a chocolate shop looks like! Belgian chocolate, I can't believe it. I would be so stingy doling that out - it would last a long time here!
-
I went to the strawberry patch today and picked about 3 quart buckets of berries. That should last me until I get back from Myrtle Beach! I think I ate a quart as soon as I got home while I was washing then and taking th e stems off for some Strawberry Shortcake. Now to finish packing.
-
AmyJo, have a great trip. Lisa, what a charming chocolate shop! HnS, I love archery! My dad used to take us shooting also.
-
We have a US Olympic Training Center about five minutes away
from here...and archery is one of the sports that trains there..very interesting to watch
-
ha ha I would love to be 51 again!! Baby I had it going on! LOL
-
Where is everyone, well I am still out soliciting votes....am moving up, but know I don't have a prayer of winning, but really appreciate all your support so keep on voting. I took the choc covered strawberries to work today, Barb, and shared.....I still have three left....it said eat within 48 hrs so I am trying. Have a great trip Amy Jo. Yep, Bruges is where I am headed with my sky miles win.
Got my neulasta shot today. So far no SEs from it or from my two halaven treatments....next week is my week off and that will complete one cycle.
Pil, I agree.....51 was pretty good, but I did not realize that of course at the time.
-
Hello everybody and happy almost Friday! I've revived a little after GS's overnight stay! BTW, he appeared in our bedroom around 5:00 AM after another successful crib escape. Fortunately for me, DH got up with him then and I got a couple more hours sleep!
Barb, I went to a girls' college in Raleigh for my first two years and we were required to take PE every semester, so one semester I took archery and really liked it. Sure beat field hockey.
3jays, that's good news about your new/old doctor! It sounds like you're already doing a lot of what he recommends and I hope the new antiviral helps too.
HnS, when you get your car you drive out with the top down and scream as loud as you can!! If my Honda Civic ever gets replaced I swear I'm going to get a sporty, sexy car that'll surprise everybody I know. Sometimes I get so tired of being so sedate, reliable, dependable, etc., when I want to be wild! H*ll, I was born to be wild and the wildest I've ever been is doing a little grass in college.
Lisa, that chocolate shop is a place I'd like to go wild in!
Told DH tonight that I need another trip to Harrah's in Cherokee. He doesn't like to gamble so we'll go to Gatlinburg too and that'll make us both happy.
Kathy

Amyjo, I forgot to wish you a good trip to the beach! Have fun!
Marybe, so nice of you to take the chocolate covered strawberries to work. Come on, girl, you can get those other 3 eaten, you know you can! I voted for you, and glad to know we can vote more than once.
And Pil, 51 seems real, real good now!
Kathy
-
Marybe: I voted for you again - it let's me vote once every day - you're ranked 38 - what does it take to win???? Will you win anything with the votes you do get? Got my fingers crossed for you.
Martha
-
Take a look at this setting for the Hard Rock Cafe in Amsterdam
-
LIsa, how gorgeous! Marybe, I voted again! Kathy, waving at you!! Pil, my early 50's were great. Then I had emegency surgery for a perforated ulcer and that took a year to come back from then this cr@p. Ugh. Hope my 60's are better.
-
Lisa, can you describe how that chocolate tasted? Slowly?? Ha!
Bon Voyage to all for whom that applies.
Marybe, I missed a voting link for something - post again and tell me what it's for. I'll vote anyway, but might as well know why!!
51 sucked for me, that's when I was smack in the middle of rads and finishing tx. I like today (56) better and hope you all get to a place where you can look BACK at all your treatment and be happy for where you are on a given day.
QCA, I laughed about the wild part - I was on the fringes of the wild crowd in my teens but never quite brave enough to follow through and participate in some of their antics. When I was 40 I really wanted to get a tattoo, and was about one drink away from going, but went home instead. There are many days I wish I'd had that next drink (I wasn't driving) and gotten the tattoo.

Get 1 now! I have 5, all since age 39.
